A tribute pearl is an offering/annual gift to the emperor.

Based on what's revealed so far, (well, what I've watched so far) we don't know yet why they are offering tribute pearls to the emperor. We just know the political situation is unstable and pearls are a high commodity across the world.

For this show, it could be either of the above definitions or both. I guess we will learn more once the story unravels. Hope this helps 😓

Why would they even compare the two? They are not age mates, nor are they peers. If any comparison is needed (I don't think it is, just making a point) Zhao Lusi should be compared to her peers like Bi Lu, esther yu, Zhou Ye, Wang Chu Ran, etc. Basically people around her age that entered the industry around the same time as her.

Lusi was eight years old when Zhao Li ying started acting. Their career trajectory are so vastly different, it's unfair to pit Lusi against her. I think it's disrespectful to both actors to try and do that.

I liked her the first time I saw her in WRTW. She was so charismatic and looked very different (look wise) from the typical c-drama actress. (This was when she still had more of her baby-fat on her face. Very round plump face).😭 I thought she was so beautiful. And I really enjoyed her "cheeky" acting in WRTW. I liked her even more in LLTG.

Yea same. Lol. I just don't don't see how the romance will play out yet. So far, I'm not even interested in that yet. I'm just excited to see how she will survive to become the best jewelry maker of her time!!! Her story is so interesting and fascinating that I don't think it needs romance to hold it up. Romance might enhance it, but it's not really needed.

Also, I appreciate how the leads stories are interesting separately. They each have their own story that can sustain their character without needing the other. Good writing all around so far!

Yea, I understand where you are coming from. But just because he "might" have loved her secretly does not mean they were "lovers. " She was A CHILD when they first met, so even if he "loved" her, I don't think it's necessary to label them as lovers.

All their relationship shown so far was one of guardianship and protector. "Lovers" is a really strong word to describe that kind of relationship.

I think, now in the present, if their relationship forms past "protector" then we can call them lovers.

Wheew... finally caught up... I have been slowly watching this cause the beginning didn't really grab me. But the story was interesting enough for me keep watching... And I'm glad I persisted, cause I'm really enjoying it now. Lol I guess the style (tragedy/instant comedy in a scene) took some getting used to.

I gotta say though, Hou MingHao really really suprised me. He is amazing in his role as a 30 thousand year old demon. He brings a certain magnetic aura to the character that's amazing to watch. You totally believe that he's lived for that long. Based on his previous works (that I have seen) I didn't know he could pull off such a character. He's doing an amazing job!!!

I am loving all the interactions with the characters. They all have a good dynamic going on, especially the bromance between ML and ZYC. They have a really good chemistry together. I like how their story is written so far. I'm excited to see how the writers will explore that relationship further. I hope it's not destroyed by some stupid love triangle...

Pei Seng is such a weak minded character. Lol she falls for everything🫠... But knowing what we know about her, I wonder how her story will unfold...Anyways, I'm really enjoying the overall story so far. Hopefully it stays with the same momentum throughout.

I like your comment and I agree with your analysis. Not every drama needs exaggerated kiss scenes just to prove chemistry. So far in this drama, they are doing it slowly. And that's fine

However, I am one of those that actually think the FL and ML don't have any chemistry. (yet) I have been slowly watching this show and this is my first time making this comment (don't know what others have said before me). Maybe the chemistry will develop later on as the show progress. But as of now, there's really none there.

I only notice this because the ML has such amazing chemistry with ZYC. See, you don't need romance to have a good chemistry that radiates on screen. Personally, I don't need "kiss" scenes to know if characters have chemistry or not. I go off based on their interactions. And so far, for me, ML and FL interactions has been underwhelming.

I think it's because there's a tension in the story between ML and ZYC that's creating that chemistry. And so far, the story of the ML and FL has no tension. (their story is very flat so far) So maybe that's why the chemistry is not apparent yet. But I'm looking forward to more of their story!

Lol please note, I am not a hater of FL cause I don't really know her work.(I have seen others called haters cause they say something abt FL). I have no dog in this fight... other than ML, I am not really familiar with the rest of the cast. So this is a first impression of everyone.
