I want to give this version a chance.. but with how pitiful the female lead is ( i mean she doesnt even know the history..like namopanik mentioned earlier "It takes all the irony of knowing others fate and lavirating around it masterfully but not knowing hers away").
I'm thinking of rewatching the original Scarlet heart just to wash off the memory of this one. Still considering though. I sincerely hope this get better.

I get why you hesitate to ship hae soo with 8th prince. because their attraction is rushed and forced. In the original Scarlet heart, even though 8th have 2 wives, their love felt natural and justified with the situation. and it happened over a period of time. they get to know each other before falling in love.

I had high hope for korean version. I thought they could atleast compete (if not surpass) with the original Scarlet heart with how they hyped it up. but it fell flat. Although the casts are eye candy, the costumes, scenery, cinematography all beautiful, it cant even reach BBJX's level in terms of strong female lead, multilayered/dynamic side characters, story development and the angst that came with it..

I am soo agree with you two.. i was hoping for a scene where she stop trying to return to her time at the beginning and accept her fate, the memorable scene in which 4th prince advised her to make the best out of her situation. And then she moved on and lived by motto.
Instead, we get "locked in the room starving and worrying other people". After 8th talked her out, she went back to the pool? just to meet 4th i guess... ugh i dont get the reason....


Also, how did you managed to get drown in a waist-deep steamy pool btw? lol

4th prince is like WTF.. he suppose to be hiding his true intention, waiting for the right moment to strike, hes intelligent and calm. im dissapointed with the 4th's character so far

Scarlet heart was my first c-drama with half bald guys in it and it still hooked me up because of the strong and intelligent female lead, equally strong and dynamic side characters as well as amazing plot. i can forgive the not-up-to-par CGI works cus of how good everything else were.

I feel the same way.. Isnt this series supposed to be based on the novel? How come it deviates so much? Sigh..

Omg Kim Yoo Jung is soo talented. I first knew her from Dong yi and was very impressed by her acting portraying the younger female lead. She grew up fine and her acting improved tremendously. It felt natural.

The series is an adaptation based on the novel Bu Bu Jing Xin by Tong Hua. After reading a couple of chapters, i must say Scarlet heart follows closely to the novel than this one.

Someone made a review before saying "Palace's producer copied Bu Bu Jing Xin's (aka Scarlet heart) premise and rushed the production to get aired first. BBJX is an once in a life time experience.: superbly written, acted, and directed with unforgettable characters."

I completely agree. even after multiple rewatches, Scarlet heart still give me the feelsss..

The Lock Heart Jade has the exact same plot but the genre leans more towards comedy than BBJX and gives this series a completely different feel.

If you want stellar writing, brilliant performances, and an unforgettable story full of love and betrayals... watch BBJX.

Wheres Rouxi's sister, Rou lan? she had an amazing relationship with her sister. Also, Rou lan (8th prince's second wife), supposed to be indifferent toward her husband cus of something major that happened in the past between them. Where's the 8th Prince's first wife Ming Hui and her sister Ming Yu? They play major parts in the story progression, no? Also, why is 14th prince so immature? 4th prince in here isnt anything resemble reserved and patient lol.

I chuckle when the theme song plays everytime the main leads appear together like it soo obvious. I feel like sometimes it doesnt fit the scene.

I have high hope for this series. i hope it doesnt disappoint.

The plot is more interesting and dynamic than Doctors.

The original version of Scarlet Heart is my all time favorite. i dont know how many times i have watched it. After seeing the trailer, i'm doubtful that this version can live up to my expectation. i feel like it will just be another eye-candy starred drama. i hope im wrong though. cus ive been anticipating a korean version for a while now
