In my opinion, the tunnel symbolizes Byung-soo's travel to the afterlife; he meets Tae-joo because they're both dead, but he wants to remember Tae-joo as the serial murderer, even until the final moment of his life. Despite that, he's still reminding himself not to trust his own memories.
So...to summarize, he's still having Alzheimer's even in his death, but I like how the movie lets us draw our own conclusion; did everything happened inside Byung-soo's head, or was Tae-joo really a serial killer?
Just finished watching episode 8. Lovely, very lovely! I love the lovely characters and hate the hateful characters! The drama is more character-driven rather than plot-driven and probably that's why it's easier to root for the amazing characters. Can't wait for episode 9!
