I have Disney+, which doesn't have JOL in my region, and Viki, which does, but I do appreciate that Viki puts a lot of effort (or the volunteer translators do) in their subtitles. (I teach translation studies at graduate level so I know how much effort goes into creating good translations.) So I watch the episode earlier with subtitles that still need work (mostly machine translated) and then rewatch them on Viki a couple of days later with good subtitles. I've even watched episodes raw, but I only got about 10-15% of the meaning (partly because the images helped), since it was all due to watching Chinese dramas. Still, it wasn't too bad since I've never studied Chinese.
The only reason I watch this drama is emperor, his super beautiful futures of acting is undeniable beautiful.…
he is unusual for an emperor. I still remember the shock of seeing him appear in deshabille and with his disorderly hair in S1 and loved, loved, loved the scene when his experiment with gunpowder is successful in S2 🤣🤣🤣. I'll also add it's a rare emperor who seems to focus on his hobbies and yet still pull all the strings. He's one of the emperors who is not controlled by his courtiers and officials. He does the controlling - ultimate puppetmaster. But his hobbies are quite telling. Making arrows and shooting them (my favourite scene is the one in which he reveals his powerful Qi to the empress in s2) these hobbies spell something quite clearly. His ambitions are all about conquering other nations and the might of his empire.
I feel kind of sad for her. It really was not a good move to take over this role. She's really not a bad actress, but she really doesn't fit the role. But the bashing she's getting... yowza
I don’t understand the elaborate assignation plot to remove the Ye family. I must’ve missed it somewhere.…
there's another reason if we think about it carefully. Chengze is going to marry Ye Linger. If the Ye family retains its power in the capital, Chengze has too much backing... the balance of power between him and CP would go awry...

from Dongyi, the one from Northern Qi is Ku He...the one who invited RuoRuo to be his last disciple after Haitang Duo Duo... oh look their names even rhyme, that might be why RuoRuo is heading north. LOL
