Finally finished it after dropping it for months. Gonna be honest with how I feel about it, don't care if yall…
I understand where you are coming from re: the activist side. I still don't understand just how what they did was supposed to actually do anything (or the connection b/w some of the protest/rally supporters, their cause & Tawi). That said, I appreciate what they tried to do with this series. Don't agree with all of the reasoning and rationale, don't fully understand a fair bit but at least they tried.
Watching for the umpteenth time and need two seconds to have a quick rant:
In what universe does a vet have so much time that s/he can go all over the place stalking and murdering people, teach and volunteer? Especially when it looks like he is the only vet in the practice. The vets I know of are so busy they can barely scratch themselves.
Ok, rant over. Will get back to the penultimate episode.
I don't know why I like this show. It has just about every single soap opera trope there is. Even the house decor, clothes and makeup fits a daytime soap. It is hilarious and frustrating and I want to watch it till the end.
Some fluff then some serious. Well done once again Ji Chang Wook for choosing a role that highlights how great an actor you are and one that kept me guessing (well kinda, I just chose to believe that he would be a good guy in the end). Loved watching him in those different magicians outfits. They looked really good on him. The rest of the cast did a great job as well. Hope to seem them in future dramas.
I found this show to be a different way of commentating on societal pressures to be 'normal', to fit within the scope of the accepted realities and norms. Admittedly its primary focus was on coming of age, career decisions and respected 'achievements' but for a 6 ep. drama it did well. I think this true due to other dramas also highlighting the pressure students are under to get into a 'good' company for a stable job that will keep them for life. See Navillera (drama also on Netflix) for an excellent end of life view of this same issue.
I have stood outside of the madness of society and been condemned as being selfish and not doing my duty to society. I still stand outside of society, not to judge but to avoid the inevitable end that is coming. Even now, as I type this I know that people will think I am mad.
A few quotes to attempt an explanation:
“Don’t link up with a wicked person and give corrupt testimony. Don’t go along with the crowd in doing evil and don’t mess up your testimony in a case just to please the crowd. And just because someone is poor, don’t show favoritism in a dispute." Exodus 23:2 & 3.
“Go in through the narrow gate. The gate that leads to destruction is broad and the road wide, so many people enter through it. But the gate that leads to life is narrow and the road difficult, so few people find it." Matthew 7:13 & 14.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3: 5 & 6
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
I have finished one of his and am half-way through two others of his. You can also go to the community forums under Thailand and look at other's requests for recommendations (or just click on recommendations at the top of this page).
I watched him first in Love in Twilight so I am really having a hard time seeing him as a bad guy in the roles I am seeing him play in two other Lakorns I'm watching.
Another most excellent article. Brought back lots of memories. While I loved Healer & K2, Bong Soon and the others in your article (that I've seen), for me the most memorable is My Shy Boss and the reason he started wearing his hoodie in the first place.
Btw, you really need to stop using Jung Hae In as click bait, :p. Gets me every time.
Rewatching. I really want to jump into this drama and scream at the characters to stop throwing in English words…
Rewatching for the 3rd or 4th time. I don't mind the bits of English thrown in. Filipino dramas do it, the odd Thai drama does it, even some cdramas do it. If a concept is better explained by a word in another language then I use it, if I know it. That and I'm admittedly a bit of a show off so I'll use a word in another language just because :) Plus, English uses lots of French, Greek, Italian and Latin words so why can't Cantonese speakers use English? Just sayin.
That said, I would have like if they'd included a few scenes of the FL getting the hang of being a vampire, etc. The outtakes at the end were pretty good.

And just in case someone wants to have a go at me, the following I know to be true for myself as well:
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23 for "there is none that doeth good, no, not one." Psalm 14:3b

Edit: Does this guy get any good guy ML roles?
Looking forward to the next one.
