I guess they just ended the story in theost conservative way, to make audiances happy. As long as they could get a happy end after so much sadness, I am happy

Technically, at this time, they could have killed Goongtan and things would nicely ended. Why they couldn't keep Ban? If touching WMH could bring back the gem together, why they didn't use this method to create the barrier and keep him?
