I never thought CSS’s mom was that bad. I think people who aren’t used to Asian parents really hated her, but you can tell she feels guilty for abandoning CSS as a baby and the way she’s treating CSS with tough love is a (misguided) reflection of that. At the end of the day she still wants what’s best for CSS and is looking out for her interests.

At this point I don't think she really knows what romantic love is, but I think she's feeling really sad when she breaks up with LY because she saw him as her opportunity to finally have a good and carefree life away from the abuses she endured as a child. LY is super sweet and would do anything for her and also let her do anything she wants, so she was mourning this lost opportunity at freedom. She kind of had the "why me" mindset because she had been met with mistreatment her whole life and was finally going to get out.

So refreshing for a historical drama, especially after the emperor in WRTW lol

LBY is right after LY, but they will be separated for a while and she gets engaged to YS during that time, and then finally she’ll be back with LBY after he returns.

Is the one more thing what happens with the He family?

Xianxia is my least favorite genre. The only one I've been able to get through is Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (Eternal Love).

From what I heard, the girl that LY was originally engaged to (from the He family) ended up having no one because her entire family gets killed, so CSS made the mature decision and broke off their engagement so LY can marry the original girl to help her out.

And I like that her mom seems a LBY supporter (at least from the previews for the next few episodes)

I know the actor for LY is the same age as ZLS but I can’t take him seriously because he looks 16

I agree with this so much. I watched ADOS and had to fast forward so much and I haven’t done that with LLTG. ADOS is overrated imo due to the lead cast.

Thank you for the explanation. Do you know why CSS accepted YS’s proposal in the first place even though she only loved LBY?

I doubt it. It’s actually very common for there to be kissing scenes in historical dramas these days before marriage (see A Dream of Splendor and WRTW). I heard it’s been relatively close to the book so far so they most likely wouldn’t make such a big deviation.

I skipped a lot in the second half until I got to the last 2 episodes, which were relatively satisfying and tied up the story nicely. I would fast forward if you plan to finish it because it was pretty draggy and melodramatic.

ADOS was great until it wasn’t. The first half was wonderful but the second half was draggy and cliched in all the bad ways, and people need to be able to recognize that. We don’t know how LLTG will go but comparing the 2 is silly because there are almost no similarities aside from both having romance elements.

Looking at the previews for next week, it actually seems like FL’s mom is a LBY supporter, so I’m very interested to see how that plays out.

I enjoy her content but she’s seriously so biased. She basically hates any drama with popular/idol actors. She was obsessed with A Dream of Splendor because LYF and CX aren’t your typical idol actors but that drama fell apart in the middle (after a very promising start) and had so many issues in the second half, and she still gave it a high rating.
