Douban is notoriously harsh with their ratings, especially when dramas involve "liulang" (traffic)/idol actors. The Long Ballad (highly rated on MDL) only has a 5.8 on Douban while A Dream of Splendor has a 8.2, and I don't think the quality in the 2 dramas is that far apart, especially considering the second half of ADoS significantly fell off compared to the first half imo.

It's not a classic cdrama if the story doesn't fall apart in the middle. There were signs it was going to happen as it had 40 episodes and they were already fully together before episode 20. After that point, I basically skipped through the rest until the last couple of episodes and still felt underwhelmed by the ending, but at least it was happy.

The way he changes his gaze when looking at her is so subtle yet effective.

Him completely ignoring the princess was chef's kiss and so satisfying.

Part of me wishes I can just binge but the other part of me knows I will skip through a lot of scenes if I binged and wouldn't appreciate the small details as much.

I was honestly shocked he didn't sing the title song as he has done that for so many recent dramas, including ADoS, Heroes, and WRTW.

CSS reminds me of Wei Yingluo from the Story of Yanxi Palace - mistreated by others but extremely cunning with amazing survival instincts. This was my most anticipated drama of the year and it's living up to its hype for me so far.

Love like the Galaxy is highly anticipated (personally the drama I've been most excited about this year) and rumored to be airing eminently.

She is quite biased, but I've generally always really enjoyed dramas she praised highly. It's the ones where she gives low ratings that I take with a grain of salt (for example the Long Ballad and WRTW, both of which I loved despite their flaws).

Looking at the trailers for the next few episodes, I'm a little scared that since things seem to be progressing very quickly on the romance front, and there are still 20 episodes left, that our leads are going to go through a lot of trial and tribulations in the second half. Ultimately I hope we get a really good happy ending that's more satisfying than WRTW.

I actually love their previews because I get to know which episodes I'll be able to see some sweet moments, but I also understand people who want to be completely surprised.

The other one is "Liu Fen Ban" Tang (hall), which literally means Six and a Half Hall lol (it doesn't even sound good in Chinese).

The names of the sects do sound ridiculous when translated lol, but in Chinese they sound a lot better. For example, Sunset Drizzle House is Jin Feng Xi Yu which actually sounds quite pretty (the translation is also closer to "Gold Wind Drizzle/Light Rain" which I know isn’t too much better).

I can totally see a little bit of Huang Rong in Wen Rou, though from what I've seen so far, she's a lot more whiny and less cunning than HR. I do hope she'll improve though.

I’ve been thinking about this a bit more and I do think it’ll be hard to come by a FL near BFX’s level any time soon. Even some of my all time favorite historical/wuxia strong FLs (Li Changge, Huang Rong, Zhao Min, etc) would pale in comparison to BFX, who is not only thoughtful and smart, but physically as strong as any male character.
