I wish we had a clear reason. It makes it hard that we don’t, buuuut it looks like our leads may not have any…
Aw you are so welcome! I am happy to hear that my interpretation of the scene helped you to navigate that <3
I so agree with you - I also hope we get a good scene of him explaining himself to her, and all the reasons why he hid his true identity from her for this long!! He owes her that, alongside a very very good apology.

Yes, he was angry because she risked her life for the wrist guards. But then he wanted to see how she felt about the person who gave them to her (aka him) if she risked her life for them....but then she responded "a friend", and so he got upset that she pretty much called him a friend and not her husband. He doesn't want to be called a friend. He wants her to like him like he likes her, and still consider Yan Zheng (him) her husband.
Apparently, in the novel - she said "ex-husband" during this cliff scene but I think that's because before he left, they finalized the divorce but in the drama, they haven't finalized. So, you can see why he may have gotten offended if she said "ex-husband" right? So yea, but in this case, he got friendzoned. Not good either way for him haha.
I think he let her go because he doesn't want to reveal his true identity to her yet. He is conflicted. I answered the mask question in another comment I believe!

I think he still wore a mask for a few reasons.
First, he probably did not have time to change into his Yan Zheng clothes before running for his life to save her before she fell off that cliff, and so in that moment, the easiest thing for him to use to conceal his identity was a mask.
Secondly, and the most important reason was that he is not yet ready to reveal his true identity to her, because he is scared of her reaction specifically how betrayed she might feel. Let's not forget she held a small ceremony for the Marquis after finding out that he "died"...(haha but he was right beside her through it). Also, I think he enjoys that she treats him like a regular person, and once she learns his true identity, she might act differently towards him. Remember how she praised him and said that her dad said the Marquis Wu'an was an incredible person. She idealizes him and so I think he is afraid to also maybe disappoint if he doesn't live up to her expectations?
Thirdly, he might think by concealing his true identity to her, she might be safe from his enemy. But we know that the Chancellor (aka his uncle) will become aware of her (as his wife and weakness) very very soon. So, who knows maybe that might lead him to reveal his identity soon.
And to answer your question about why he said "Forget it, at least she's alive" - haha he said that because when he asked her who gave her those wrist/arm guards, she said a "friend". He got offended that his own wife friendzoned him (Yan Zheng). He was trying to gauge her feelings and to see if she has real feelings for Yan Zheng...especially since they left on a bitter note, and because she risked her life to save those wrist guards. I hope that answers some of your questions!

He is mad that she risked her life to save the leather wrist/arm guards that he made. His rationality is that her life is the most valuable thing, and that arm guard he made/gave her means nothing if she is not alive and well. He just didn't want her to die just for those wrist guards, because he loves her.
It is actually pre good! I didn't have any expectations going into this drama but I am pleasantly surprised - I think the two main leads are doing an excellent job. I just wish the episodes were longer because 15 mins is just too little!!
1 episode daily is cruel.
