Yoo Shi Jin aka Big Boss: A master piece among drama characters in K-drama history.
I have watched more than 200 K-drama and what I have always noticed is lead character (especially male character) suffering from variety of syndromes. For example: Being very rude and arrogant, Having evil parents, Egoist, Inconsiderate, Not to know when/how to express his feelings, Having a nice and kind close friend/brother who also loves the same female lead, Carrying an old/current/childhood trauma, Blindfolded with revenge, An irresponsible playboy, Rich-spoiled brat, etc…etc….
He takes first 6 or 7 episodes to fall in love or to realize he is in love and he needs minimum 6 more episodes to confess because of any one or few or more above said illness… Not only in the perspective of romance in all other aspects also we can notice so many flaws, sometimes they look really stupid. Plot becomes draggy after 10 episodes because of their so called personality problems…
Thanks and to writer Kim Eun Sook for creating a character Capt Yoo, who is beyond perfect… he is a great soldier, adorable boyfriend, respectable team leader, amazing friend. He is perfect in everything. He clearly knows what he want, how to express and how to make decisions in critical situations.. He can approach a girl in his first meeting with an attractive and decent way. He can leave her in the middle of a date to carry out his duties without any hesitation, but can risk his life and carrier to save her. He believes in fallowing rules but can break those rules to keep his principles. He expressed his love directly, hold on to her so that she can get know him, allowed her to move on when she decided to leave and can accept her without any hesitation when she came back. Throughout the journey of DOTS all the decisions Capt Yoo made, are the best decisions for that moment. I never came across a character like Big boss throughout my drama watching experience. Hats off to both writer Kim Eun Sook and Song Joong Ki for portraying this role.
These are some precious lines said bye Capt Yoo in DOTS (of course those are Kim Eun Sook lines):-
• I am a soldier, soldiers follow orders, the reason we do, what we do is because it must be done. I fight for my family and I, you and your family, persons we treasure and to protect peace and freedom of the country we live on.
• Soldiers always live with a shroud on. When you die in a nameless land for the sake of your country, the place of your death becomes your grave and your uniform becomes your shroud. If you put uniform with this mindset, be honorable at every moment, no reason to fall short.
• For me Patriotism is the faith that I have to protect people, the belief that I wouldn’t change even in front of the gun, the honor of the soldier I save that way.

I wavered between 9.5 and 10.0. The 0.5 mainly because of the terrible English of most actors/bad foreign actors.…

Way better than the trash that Descendants of the Sun is.
that's why people around the world are going crazy over DOTS??? don't call it as trash...DOTS serving the purpose of entertainment to its fullest. Cast, acting, dialogues, visuals , ost everything is epic…

another over-rated drama without even a proper story
Is there any rule that a drama should tell a single story? Why can’t it be a bunch of incidences in relation with specific, time, place and individuals? DOTS serving the purpose of entertainment to its fullest. Cast, acting, dialogues, visuals , osts everything is epic… I was really tired watching revenge, birth secret, rich boy-poor girl etc... so called ‘story’ plots… this one is really refreshing.

i think it is a pretty good drama. but they should have chosen a different time slot for this.. now people started to calling Wednesday and Thursdays as DOTS days, fans are going crazy over it... its not a wise decision to go head-over fight... with a different time slot it could have got good viewer-ship ratings..

HI, everyone, there are many viewers who think DOTS is an overrated drama (but still they don’t stop watching, I don’t know why?). I can rally say that the plot is bit thin, but I don’t agree with people who are saying that it has no story at all... DOTS is all about the romance between two individuals, who works in a disaster environment. So it contains all the aliments which are necessary to bring loyalty to its genre. Don’t forget DOTS contains everything an entertaining drama should have, a super-hot, super cute hero with amazing acting skills!! (yes of course with his killer smile!!!!!), a beautiful talented heroin, amazing second leads and supportive characters, super cool visuals, heart fluttering dialogues, epic OST. It’s a full package of entertainment... There are so many other dramas having stronger plots but do you know why DOTS has such a high ratings and popularity? That’s because already life itself is tiring for most of people and they want something refreshing from the entertainment industry. They need something that makes them smile, makes their heart flutter, and fills their night with sweet dreams. There is no rule that a drama should tell a single story. Why can’t it be a bunch of incidences, in relation with specific, time, place and individuals? DOTS serving the purpose of entertainment to its fullest and deserves this success…
