This is 5/10 for me. It's definitely not 10/10 < see how stupid it sounds? It's both 10/10 and 5/10 coz people view things differently, like different thing, have less or more tolerance about certain flaws, like certain strengths more. You're not wrong rating it 10, and no one who rated it 5 is wrong either.

That's why I said even trauma bonding does not really fit since FX was hiding how awful he is, the abuse happened after SL fell in love.

he still acted like himself < he partially acted like himself, but he was hiding A HUGE part of who he is. And he is abusive, manipulative, emotionally unstable, obsessive. It is who he is. But now they will act as if it is not who he is by giving us few months time jump. If you hide all your flaws, no the person does not fall in love with you, but with the fake image of you. The love is not real, because the person they love is not real.

That's what's so frustrating tbh. Not that he was toxic and abusive, but how it;s not... an issue. We moved on coz time jump and we are told he changed. You don't change from being this level of fucked up. FX by all means raped SL countlessly. But now he is this poor puppy with sad eyes and it's all good? And people feel bad for him? If this was presented as him still being manipulative, just changing tactics, and they did not try to whitewash him, I would be far more fine with the story. But whatever "redemption" he apparently had behind the scenes does not match the abuse, trauma, pain, harm he caused. I honestly think I'm more frustrated with the audience reaction than the drama itself tbh 🤡 I am still frustrated with how awfully it progressed and was presented, but the "FX poor baby omg I love him I want him to be happy" I see as reaction is just 🙂

it's over exaggeration obviously. But it is a fact he bonded with his abuser and in healthy state of mind he would never even consider being int he same room with FX. I used it mostly because that's how people understand Stockholm Syndrome - bonding with your abuser. I used it the same way we use "psychopath" to describe toxic behavior, even if it does not get even close to actual diagnostic criteria.

People in comment use the term "trauma bonding" which I would agree, but I am not sure most people use it correctly. IT's not two people bonding because of their similar traumas. When it's forming bond and attachment to your abuser. But even that is not fully fitting, because FX initially was manipulating SL to fall for him and was hiding how fucked up he is.

One way or another, FX never loved SL, he was obsessed with him. SL loved whatever persona was presented to him, not the real FX. One way or another this love was not quite real.

At least some people want to see this story as a bad guy turn good for the man he loves. But it's not. It's a bad fucked up man staying fucked up, ending up with his victim who is too broken to move on.

it seems common to forgive a person without that person really doing anything to earn forgiveness. < especially prevalent with parents. The number of abusive parents that were forgiven "because they are parents and they did all the abuse out of love" is crazy.

Oh I get why he will forgive him. Shulang is so mentally and emotionally fucked up by FX there is literally no coming back from it, especially since like in ay other BL - mental health is literally not a topic of discussion 🤣

But I remember back in the earlier episodes when FX started to piss me off people kept telling me how I will change my mind later, and here we are and I still want that psychotic bitch dead 🤡 It's more the comment on that.

I have no issue with the "they are both fucked up, it is what it is, they will end up together", but the pity party for FX as if he became a saint and he deserve any love from anyone is just laughable for me. There is a difference between enjoying twisted romance and pretending the romance ain't that twisted and acting like the psychopath is just a confused hurt puppy 🤣

He got Shulang out of the rut where he was thinking of self harm by creating a scenario where Shulang has to go work for his dream job and get paid a good salary instead of peanuts if he started working himself in the same field. < he was self harming because of him in the first place. He started to live again mostly coz FX was staying away from him so he felt like he can breath again. He said it himself. The work was just a way to distract himself. Just leaving FX would have the same effect, because it was his presence not the lack of work that made him self-harm in the first place. This is not a redemption arc, this is the bare minimum he should do.

It’s a debt that Shulang owed which Fan Xiao paid without letting him know < oh you mean he yet again acted behind SLs back and acted on his won without discussing anything and then told SL she is in fact dead. Such a angel really.

he also sent himself to jail in the process in order to atone for his sins. < ah yes, he just had to last time assault him in the process 🤡 "in order to atone for his sins" no, he was being legally punished for his illegal crimes. Nothing to do with SL. He made this whole ass theatre last moment playing victim "sending himself to jail for SL". He is not a victim.

You failed to see what was the most abusive about FX - his complete control. The way he was planning SL's life behind his back and making sure SL ends where he wants him to end. And after it make to light... what does he do? The same shit. In this context his intentions now do not matter, because the action is what broke SL and he keeps doing the same action.

Don't know what happened in the novel, but in the drama while he technically stayed away from him, he still stalked him so it's hardly a redemption. Like... what exactly did he do? The standard for redemption must be really low is this is the best ever 🙂

I believe no one could do better in the FL role, because the writing was just that bad. There is no saving it no matter the acting skills. Ahn Eun Jin is an amazing actress but you cannot save poorly written character with just acting alone.

I forgot about her, because the writers and characters also forgot about her lol She was so insignificant to the plot it was not even worth writing about her in the review hahah

Such a beautiful message and executed in a very simple and concise manner. < this. It could have turn preachy so fast if the writing was not good. But they managed to deliver nice message in a more uplifting manner,

They sneak on you with this one 🤣 I liked episode 1, but around episode 2 is when it truly made me love it.
But I have to say, I am very satisfied with the romance and how it all complements Kano’s growth. < this. I love how it all feels like a part of one story, rather than two completely separate storyline parallel to each other.

As for the intimate scene, the only reason I was 100% fine with it was the silly twist to it. Like... it was not all "hot and serious" but rather light in the tone.

Anyway, great review! 🔥I do agree that for 6 episodes they did the best job they could have. I do appreciate how last episode had different POV, because without it I for sure would feel like something is missing,

Truth to be told, I did not expect to like this show so much. I thought it will be decent mediocre watch, but something I was able to relate to the characters and for only 6 episodes they managed to present rather well structured story 🔥

I see alot of people who might just come in for romance, might be disappointed lol < yep, this is also what worries me, coz they show is so good, and the romance is in fact really nice it;s not end all be all 🙂

I totally agree that 2 more episodes would be ideal. But even with just 6 they did quite a good job to make it cohesive and easy to follow, understand and feel.

but it was refreshing to see a plot where you are not rewarded for enduring but rather noticing yourself and prioritizing. < omg yes. the whole drama was about taking accountability and going after what you want instead of waiting for it to be delivered to you. Because if you get what you did not earn, you won't be satisfied anyway, the same way ML was not in this "perfect" world.

Moving to romance, I would say this is not a drama you solely watch for romance. It is definitely present but it is not loud < bitch, we are one and the same 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Some reflection scenes work well, but a few felt very fast-paced. < funny enough I think they delivered Ogami's side of that romance a lot better and I understood how he started to have feelings for Kano. With Kano I kind of get it, but I don't fully feel it.
