Can someone explain to me, Why Li Zan has short screentime. Is it same in the novel? Is the drama really about Li…
I do have a small complaint about this—not only due to Li Zan's limited screen-time but also because the drama doesn't seem to give enough insight or perspective from his side. In the recent episodes, the focus has been almost entirely on Song Ran's pain and suffering, when, in reality, Li Zan is the one who’s enduring the most. The lack of exploration into his struggles feels like a missed chance to give his character the attention and complexity he deserves, especially considering how much he’s been through. ☹️
I'm on Ep 12 and I'm PISSED.WHY THE F can't Asian dramas show women who are TIRED of the parental bullsh!t?WHY…
Insufferable culture, I know. But compared to a certain family-themed drama from last year, Song Ran's mother is relatively tame. Besides, she will be a better mother to Song Ran later on.

The epilogue was presented as a book written by their children, retelling their parents’ memories years later. A Zan battled survivor’s guilt and PTSD for a decade before ultimately taking his own life. Years later, Song Ran returned to a war zone—only to be killed by a stray bullet while saving a child.
Quick question for those who have been following the production. Did they change the ML character's occupation?…
In the book, he was still a volunteer. The only major change I remember is his nationality—the drama makes him of Chinese descent, he’s not actually Chinese by nationality. I think they changed it because of a part in the epilogue
this is good. but why she had to cry after her colleague claimed him as her boyfriend? she must be taken aback…
In a recent episode, Shen Bei told Song Ran that she had never lost to anyone since childhood and that she definitely wasn’t going to lose to her now. Honestly, that’s a pretty pathetic excuse coming from a grown woman. 😶

Been so long but too bad you still haven’t grown up. But hey, you do you. Arguing with you is giving me a headache—maybe try using proper punctuation and all those next time when you type.

Who’s “we”? Are you speaking for the fans here or the Chinese fans—who, to be honest, do a lot more to support him than you ever will? Just speak for yourself. Dragging other fans into this only makes him look bad.

Definitely more than you. I’m a fan too, but fortunately I’m not shallow like you. Maybe you’re just new to the fandom scene, which would explain the toddler-level behavior. Grow tf up.

Even if they’re fans of Zheyuan, that doesn’t mean they have to blindly love all his projects. Constructive criticism is normal—as long as it’s delivered respectfully.
From the previews, the next two episodes are leading into the return-to-home-country arc, where the angst will slowly start building up. I really hope it picks up from there because I’ve been waiting for this drama for so long—with pretty high expectations. 😔
I generally am of the mind that leaving negative comments on shows you don’t enjoy is counterproductive but…
Song Ran as a character feels… inconsistent to me. I get that people react differently depending on the situation or who they’re interacting with, but the more I watch (just finished Episode 10), the more she feels off. Like, at times, she doesn’t even seem like the same person—if that makes sense. I don’t remember her being like this in the book. Not sure if it’s the execution, her expressions, or something else.
On the epilogue: both leads. 😔
