it doesn't matter, audience cannot distinguish. they think the leads are doing the martial arts and are loving the choreography and all. The fl is a professional dancer from Beijing dance academy. She has beautiful form and very graceful.
If you want to see his best work in acting, you should definitely try Ancient love poetry because, in my opinion,…
yes, I was able to distinguish between Bai Jue and Qing Mu very clearly even though they looked exactly the same. I was so sad Qing Mu and Shanggu did not even get a year (or thousand years) together because she was exiled. Their love for each other tugs at your heart and his love letter he left her at his memorial is truly sweet and heartbreaking and if you don't cry for them, are you even human? I'll never forget Qing Mu said to Bai Jue, "don't hurt her" (Xu Kai expression) as he basically died and merged back into Bai Jue. Zhou Dong Yu is an amazing passionate actress. The second ml was amazing too, so much chemistry between the three of them.
i am watching ep 32 tf xu kai acting keeps leaving me breathless and empty minded. he’s just TOO GOOD. i mean…
His acting is a reflection of his innermost being. It reveals the depth of emotions that he possesses and the passion that drives him. To act with such intensity, one must be unafraid to be vulnerable and true to oneself.
It just goes to show different audiences perceptions of female leads are subjective. Some can't stand Ying because she resorts to tricks (how dare she be so tricky), because she was mad at Li Ni for too long (when she was grieving for loss of brother, hurt that Li Ni of all people did not believe her, sadness, anger, guilt, confusion - having a breakdown and being confined does not help, and beautiful depiction of humanity of Li Ni emotional intelligence being empathetic, compassionate, supportive, thoughtful, sensitive, understanding, and considerate, truly amazing how he helped her get out of her emotional wreck), or that Ying is too pushy because she wants LI Ni to be crown prince so he can fight back, and aggressive, so many negative perceptions of her, yet overlooking her many good qualities. Ying is who she is: ambitious, independent (never wanted to marry anyone until Li Ni showed up, happy to live a single life and stay in army to protect people), determined, resolute, tenacious, assertive, confident, etc.
However, some audiences seem to love female lead in Journey to Love because she is "heartless and ruthless" but also "caring" (so it's okay to be bad if you are caring too? but isn't Ying also a kind person too?). JTL fl "pesters" ml, "tricks him to sleep with her" to have a baby out of wedlock, constantly "seducing him" and making him uncomfortable, yet she is a character to love and admire.
I wonder why one tricky and pestering fl can be dislike, yet another pestering and tricky fl can be liked? Could it be that audience loved Li Ni character so much more that Ying bothers them? Or is it that if you like the actress, you only see the good and overlook the bad, and vice versa. Or maybe one fl has more charisma than the other?
someone wrote elegantly: Seventeen Lang is the idealistic soil in everyone's heart... He has a more concept of spiritual symbols. It is a manifestation of Confucian culture that values righteousness over profit.

Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it for Xu Kai to put so much effort into fighting scenes. I know he does it because he loves doing it, but can the audience appreciate it or tell the difference? It carries a risk of injury to the actor. I recall a bts of Dance of the Sky Empire and Xu Kai was actually climbing down a slippery hill (loose rocks) off a cliff hanging onto a rope. There are a lot of people around him so he's safe but why don't he just use a stunt man? I wonder if it hurts in WoL when he bent that bow across his back with enough force that the bow bounces quite a distance behind him. It must hurt to keep practicing that until he could do the stunt. It looked like a real bow, not a prop.
Xu Kai is a master at conveying emotions through his body language, especially his face and his large, bright eyes. He has the ability to summon intense emotions and reflect them in a captivating gaze. By using subtle changes in expression, such as the way he moves his face and mouth, he is able to project his emotions outwardly with great intensity and visibility. Pupil dilation and blinking are also important aspects of body language that can provide clues about a person’s emotional state. When a person experiences intense emotions such as excitement, fear, or anger, their pupils may dilate, while anxiety or nervousness can cause more blinking. Xu Kai’s long arms and legs, agility, imposing figure, and graceful movements also contribute to his ability to convey emotions through his body language.
Ep 1 flashback: Li Ni: I tried to rescue a wild cat, but it scratched me. I fell into the well by accident. Bao: It's a wild and ungrateful creature, why did you try to save it? Li Ni: Yes, it's indeed wild, untamable, and cunning. Bao: Cunning?

I'm only at episode 26. I wish I have watched the entire movie because I know later on, the relationship, emotions and chemistry are going to get even more intense like a roller coaster. This movie is definitely one that people who get the connections will rewatch certain scenes between them. Their chemistry really draws you in and makes you feel for them. I think the reason there is chemistry is because in real life the actors are quite comfortable with each other.
one of the best dramas in 2023..if anyone didn't connect with main leads they won't like it..if connected then…
The FL character was not well-received by some of the audience, which could have ruined the chemistry for them.
Understanding the characters helps me better perceive the chemistry between them. The way they dealt with their emotions towards each other was charged with chemistry. They had that initial date at the Hut where they cooked together, shared their dreams and childhood memories, later on battlefield, exchanged love letters, they would reminisce and shared their deepest thoughts and feelings, and later they would always connect with each other at Wonderland, their special place. Intense moments of conflict and confusion arose between them too, but their efforts to make up and help each other were also charged with chemistry. Their connection was so intense that it felt like two souls had melted into one - true soul mates.
While some of these scenes may seem boring if you don’t see the connection, for me, they were natural and sweet moments between the characters. The acting was very natural and low-key, which is how it is in real-life when you are sentimental and opening up your heart to someone about your deepest feelings. The actors did a great job of making boring conversation very sentimental and sweet. Even during times of conflict, their chemistry was palpable, and you could feel their pain.
The Cui family/army was never a threat to the throne as they had always stayed in their prefecture prior to the rebellion (I'm guessing) until since they marched to the capital to kill Sun Jing and seize the crown, as stated in episode 1. They then had occupied the eastern capital, Luoyang, and would not give it back. This made them a threat and force to be deal with and Cui family became a target. This is why the idea of a marriage alliance to Cui Lin came about. Li Ni and Cui Lin had a long and excruciatingly painful discussion that neither will be able to persuade the other and left it at that. But then the crafty brother brought up to emperor he wanted to have Cui Lin.

The human emotions in this drama series are quite complex, and the show does an excellent job of portraying them. Episode 16 is particularly noteworthy because of Li Ni’s character. He is an amazing human being who helps Ying come out of her emotional crisis or depression in the sweetest, most caring, patient, and understanding way. He has a deep understanding of her emotions and feelings. I really love how episodes 15 and 16 deal with grief, guilt, and pain.
Ying never really blamed Li Ni. In episode 15, she said to Taozi before the ambush, “It’s our army’s fault to let them lose the pass and more than half their men. I wouldn’t have kept calm either if I were in his shoes, but I’d believed he would trust me.” Later, after she felt better, she said to Taozi at the end of episode 16, “I know he wants to apologize, and I shouldn’t be mad at him. If it were someone else, I wouldn’t be so mad, but he is not just anyone else.”
Li Ni was content to hear that Ying did not blame him and was willing to forgive him. Also, Ying was detained by Li Ni so she had nowhere to go to deal with her emotions.
This movie shows how the strongest of us are only human.
I'm on ep 15 and the FL annoys me! will she get better?
she's unwavering so she's not going to change. she will only become more determined. She's on a mission to save an entire people from the grasp of tyrants and bad rulers.
Douban is China audience only, so they have different taste and requirements. They probably don't like the whole…
I've watched FIYS and loved it. 3.2 out of 10 is joke to me. Xu Kai looks and acts the part of a nerd albeit a rich and not so introverted nerd but still a nerd. The entire cast had amazing chemistry. I don't anyone who could have played the role the way Xu Kai did. Similar to AMA, Xu Kai put his distinctive mark on the character. Any other actor the movie would turn out completely different feeling.
I really loved this drama ,this is my best Chinese drama for this year after this is Hidden Love and best couple…
"it took the useless father 40 episodes to realize what a filial son he had" Every time I think of the father, I can't help but laugh, good actor. in ep. 26, he said to his son Jun, "you think I'm a fool?" For once, he was not stupid and believed Li Ni had the evidence to incriminate his brother. For once, he was not duped. For once, he believed Li Ni instead of his brother. I was waiting for something stupid from the father. It shocked me.
i am casually checking douban app and what i found is that FIYS has rating of 3.2 out of 10 , and then i understand…
Douban is China audience only, so they have different taste and requirements. They probably don't like the whole gaming thing. I read somewhere that if the movie is dubbed, points will be deducted. You have to be "young at heart" to watch FIYS.
when will the SML will give up on her and not be a problem?
SML is a character with a complex and troubled past. His childhood was marked by constant sickness, living as a shadow for Ying, and a delusional state of mind, fueled by his unrequited love for Ying. The arrival of Li Ni shattered his already fragile emotional state, and he was disowned by the Cui family, leaving him with no past or future identity. As an adult, SML has become increasingly unstable, dangerous, and violent. His mental illness has made him deranged, delusional, and obsessive. It is unlikely that he can be cured easily.
Unlike Li Ni’s father and brothers’ comical roles, SML’s role is serious and pivotal to the plot. His character creates twists and turns that keep the audience engaged and guessing. This kind of role has the potential to be an award-winning performance, but Gao Han’s portrayal of the character falls short of its potential.
