I am so glad I gave this another chance after being put off by some poor reviews。it starts off rather wooden but develops nicely: I love the tender moments and sensitive artistic touches that make up for limitations in production values、 so I view it as more an impressionistic drama and the MLs have very good chemistry。 unusual to see such open displays of affection in Chinese drama。 the low rating is really undeserved and a travesty❤️🌈
a truly great drama series and although long with long episodes it never dragged for me〜I liked nearly all the characters and the interwoven stories were skillfully put together and above all kudos for including the story of a gay couple in a big traditional Korean family❤️🌟🌈 watch out for thee trademark falls!
after the disappointment of political censorship of same sex drama in China I was hoping other countries would take up the dramas they foolishly discriminated as I am sure there is much demand〜 I love to see back Chinese style drama with men in beautiful costume flowing hair and elegant style of ancient times and no prejudice for same sex themes the story is amusing though seems rather thin but I hope more productions like this or more serious follow
krist perawat is quite expressive but Fluke Gawin is pretty wooden and 、from two episodes where is the gay romance ?all it seems is a non congruent triangular rotation
Episode 4 the most complex story but I reject the premise spelled out by the partner at the end of the film who gave up his partner so that partner could fulfill his mother's wish to marry and have a child " I would do the same if I had to do it again" : this is not a noble act of self-sacrifice but maybe a self-hating projection 。the fact is the story reflects homophobic bullying of a different kind 、emotional blackmail by the mother to satisfy her selfish desire to have a grandchild and also fit in with prejudiced society's expectations and we see the consequences when a marriage built on a lie breaks down。so a thoughtful story though a bitter one
personally I thought the end focused on Tao Xe's wedding was a mistake though I understand they may have wished to bring out Xu Zhengxi's lingering regret
this was very good story within the limitations of production and obviously a lot of love and thought went into it、 in a way the weaknesses made it some more real and I am interested to see it was based on a real story。❤️🌈 It was also interesting to see glimpses of gay life in China in 2015and that this was even made at all in 2015、 though I wonder if it is even the same as this now as China has gone backward by censoring gay culture
what is the rationale to have 20 x 10 minute episodes each week day rather than say 4 x 50 minute or 5 x 40 minute. ? is this some great artistic message or just for short attention span audience
love transcends all boundaries、 ep.1 Against the world ; mostly short series of impressions of two boys facing down bullying ep.2 promise you a city:trying to start and keep alive relationship but maybe after all a dog is a man's best friend🐶 ep.3 Beijing very touching❤️🌈 ep.4 The Mistress maybe the most complex story but the saddest also they put a lot in a short drama nice try and brave for China but this was some years ago I see and things have gone backward
