unremittingly dark and depressing 〜my final perception of this film is that what starts as a scenario just barely plausible as real presents through increasingly destructive imagery a metaphorical descent into madness reflected in the surreal final twists。as film it was well done with the lighting and camera work conveying the dark and claustrophobic atmosphere (?the enclosed space of the mind within which it takes place) I can not give it top score because though I recognise its merit at an intellectual level for me this film is devoid of anything uplifting: why do we(or maybe better why do we have to)produce such films?
I watched the Korean version first and it was excellent and well made. however this is much darker ーliterally even to the dark filming almost film noirーand the physical and emotional violence is serious and all pervasive : be prepared for shocking scenes of bullying by students、violence and mental abuse、 wife-beating, beatings of children by parents and even by teachers: it was often very difficult to endure。but it is a necessary background to understanding the death of the Kashiwagi which sets the train of events in motion。 it is also more realistic in the sense the students really are middle school age so the presentation is more amateurish than the Korean but all the more believable for that。
well it is the end! I loved this show but was very sad about the tragic ending、 I admit I was not expecting so many tragic ends even if I half-expected the final scene with Yue Lou, Yu Zhi and Zhan Jun Bai 〜〜I really wanted them to live together happily with the cat and Keying but I guess the censor won out。 I confess I cried。 the final snow scene is how I imagine them together meeting for the first time in the next world〜
I have not finished watching so will not read replies but I still see these plot lines as absurd but can suspend reality still to enjoy the drama〜 ah I know well it was to clear Jiang of suspicion and for greater cause and also Yuzhi may be willing to risk his life for that and out of love but I still say Jiang as friend〜lover would not have put to him that choice
I love this drama for the reasons in my last comment but I see in episode 30 the two great plot holes ar 1〜Zhan is too smart ever to have trusted Jiang Yuelou and they have great problems with this plot line they have to keep the character of Zhan as very smart and ruthless so the story sees him try many tests of Jiang's loyalty but this is all unconvincing as the drama shows he never trusts Jiang anyway;and 2〜 Jiang as Chen Yuzhi's closest friend (really lover as we know) would never agree actually to ”shoot but miss the heart” out of crude selfishness to pursue his plan to destroy San Ye and Jinma Hall、this is really an absurd plot twist but I suppose we have to suspend reality to enjoy the characters who for me are really more important than how the plot develops。
another adult back to school drama but more inventive and not only comedy I think. this follows stories of several characers so not clear why summary only about sorata:his relationship with his daughter fades to background。not sure if to laugh or cry as this has serious and light parts but for me gets better as it goes on。 best part is the bond that develops between the characters supporting each other and them and mizuno。 I will hide comments on surprise ending
like this as a story but also as an original metaphor for finding identity as a minority sexual orientation in and overcoming alienation from a repressive societyーprobe brings full spectrum of color to mono's half life and mono allows probe to unmask his real self beautiful music also〜for my taste this was perfect even if we know nothing is ever really perfect in this world 〜but it is a perfect fantasy at least
Money. I don't think it's really a question of giving air time since the Korean BLs are only web dramas... but…
it is a limited audience I know and they did some good lgbt kdrama but really now I have an impression they are even more scared of the subject than was in Japan where attitude to it has improved a lot
as it is I find this drama attractive and amusing but just as it gets interesting it stops〜it is difficult to understand why it is only in short episodes〜 it needs more space for the characters to have real time to develop are Korean producers still afraid of giving too much time to LGBT themed dramas?
Lovely show, well produced, The background story of opium smuggling and corruption is not so original、 what makes it come alive for me is to see how the friendship of Jiang and Chen develops、actually it is a story with two GL interests and very little female romance. also nice touches such as the cat and Chinese opera and the reconstruction of 1920s surroundings. I look forward to it every day.
For me what stood out about this was the hi school section in what was otherwise another rather predictable but very well done spy thriller. It did nothing to boost the North Korean travel industry however.
