I think Mr Xu created the virtual reality project. His goal was to allow people to discover a new life in VR, and also to heal. Let's just say that a man never managed to make peace with his father and his father died. He never recovered from feeling guilty. In a VR conceived for his problem, he could live a life where he would make peace with his father, healing his soul and making him able to go back to his reality knowing that somehow, even in a VR, he did the right thing with his father. He missed his chance in real life, always wondering "what if", and the VR would answer that question.

But Mr Xu needed funds for his project and that's where the brain company (I don't remember the exact name) comes in, with that woman in charge. I think they betrayed Mr Xu, their goal was never creating a VR game/life, but to explore brains working in that environment and creating people they could manipulate once out of the VR.

I was wondering, when the FL is leaving the hospital, is that the Light house logo we see for a second, on the bed sheet?

Yeah, that's one hell of a coincidence. On top of that, I'm a bit shocked that we never saw the FL's parents in the so-called 2025 universe and we never see the ML's parents in the 2018 universe. There's being busy and there's being completly absent, that's very different.

It makes me wonder if this absence is because they are linked to the experiment and the discovery, for the ML, that his mother is part of it, would bring such angst, shock, on top of drama, and a twist in the story. I could be wrong, though.

Okay, I'm all caught up and pffff, that's getting complicated. It's strange, I want HBY's version to be the real one because it would mean that there are three worlds: the 2018 and 2025 ones (which would be virtual ones), and the real one we haven't seen yet, only in a flashback of the FL and HBY about to enter the capsules.

But I don't think it's the real story. I still think that 2018 is the real world, that Mr Xu invented the Virtual Reality game/capsules so that people could live a different life or fix mistakes and that he had a partnership with the neurobrain company which betrayed him and used his game for their own experiments. Maybe he vanished to protect his own life and the neurobrain company erased his identity?

That part of the story is what is confusing me. How could he vanish so m ysteriously from the 2018 world without anyone remembering him apart from the ML, and land in the 2025 world???

Who convinced HBY that he was stuck in his own game, that he had to accomplish tasks to get out of the game and that the ML was a virus? What was the experiment, to see if it was possible to completly brainwash people into forgetting their real lives and believing the fake lives, in less than a week? Or to follow orders to the point of insanity, for HBY?

So maybe HBY and JXY are the ones in the capsules, started to get to live their own fake lives but either the game was hacked by the company or it malfunctioned. I lean towards it was hacked.

Sigh, I still think that Mr Xu and the ML have a strange relationship in this story. I can't put my finger on it. Maybe because the ML is the only one remembering him from the 2018 era and the FL the only one to remember him from the 2025 era? Is he the real conceptor of the hacked virtual game trying to save the FL and he is using the ML for that? I hope the ML is a real person but now I'm starting to doubt it.

What if he was sent by Mr Xu to save the FL since he was in love with her in the past but he also forgot about his real identity???

That's soooo complicated.

Also, I'm wary of Jiang Bo. Once again, I can't explain why. Maybe the timing? HBY is out of the picture and the mysterious woman was in contact with someone, maybe Jiang Bo? Since he already knows her and has her trust, he can start working on whatever the experiment is about, with the FL.

Whoever that woman is, she wants HBY gone

I don't know why, I keep thinking about the scene where the ML's friend falls from the building and I wondered, what if this scene IS in fact the ML falling, then coma, but somehow in his coma, he switched the events to his friend?

I don't know, maybe I'm complicating things and the drama will end up being simpler than that, and it simply being an experiment the FL is part of.

Maybe there are two teams in that conspiration? the ML's mother and Mr Xu on one side, and the ex-boyfriend and his bosses on another side?

Or the ML's mother vs Mr Xu, who knows?

But I'm practically sure that even if the ML's mother is involved, it's not about her son being in a coma (even though I would love that twist) but some kind of Matrix experiment the FL agreed to participate in, to pay for her grandmother's medical bills.

It's the more logical explanation.

Or more likely, to be present in the same room as people who use drugs while not using them themselves. After all, the actress didn't do the cabaret.

Still, it's annoying that we might not see this drama just because the actress just went to a cabaret. It's not as if she killed someone, beat someone, or didn't pay her taxes.

I feel like producers and actors must pay astromicals amount of money to their insurance companies in case their work get cancelled because of one actor's actions.

Some posters here posted about having seen previews of future episodes where the FL is walking hand in hand with JB so maybe they are dating in 2025? But if he is in 2025, IMO, he is a suspect in the conspiration.

Yes, I noticed that in 2025, the FL keeps talking about her dad but even when she is in trouble and calls him, he doesn't answer and her calls reach directly Mr Xu. Strange, isn't it?

Apparently, the ML's parents were also absent from his life (aka always working) and his mother works in a laboratory. Could she be the woman we have seen only from behind?

I love my theory about the ML being in a coma but I think there's only a 10% possibility of it being true. It's more probable that everything is about the FL.

I don't have the time to watch the episodes until this week-end, but from what some said, Jian Bo is dating the FL in 2025? I'm starting to be wary about him. People who are in both worlds, minus the FL, are suspect: her ex-boyfriend, her ex-best friend, Mr Xu, and now Jiang Bo...

I would love a twist where the ML is in a coma and his mother created this Matrix world, sending people to push her son out of the fake world/coma: first a best friend, then a girl he used to love.

But somehow, the experiment went wrong, her son is still in a coma, Mr Xu rebelled, and the FL was kicked out by Mr Xu, maybe because the experiment is illegal and the ML's mother is ready to kill whoever she believes is a threat.

It's probably not that but it's nice to theorize.

Considering how everything is about the FL's jobs, friends and career, it's more likely that it's about her and not the ML.

Even though I would prefer the time-travel/parallel world theory, considering China's censorship of this kind of drama, it's unlikely to be the real story.

So a VR experiment or as I call it "A Matrix world" has been created and yeah, my opinion is that 2025 is the Matrix world because of Mr Xu's strange questions in the first episode and how he sent her the exact coordinates for the accident, which sent her directly to 2018 and to QL.

QL is, IMO, the derailment the title alludes to. It's because of him that the FL will remember her real past and that will derail the experiment. For scientists like the ones doing that experiment, he IS a virus.

I like your second theory, though. It would be nice to have a twist.

She chooses to believe the guy who cheated on her with her best friend rather than the man who is a best friend to the "original XY" and who has been helping her again and again and again, even if they don't always get along and fight.

She even attacks him. Yeah, nice. The way I see it, she is going to attack the ML, her ex will finish the job, and he will bring her back not to "her world" but to the experiment and the ML will have to save her.

Can you link where the previews are posted? Or can you post in a spoiler tag what happens, please? Never mind, oh damn it! I wonder if the fans posting here will go from hating the ML to hating the FL? Because, damn.

Good theory. It's a complex drama, I'm loving it so far. I just wish it had more balance between the mystery and the FL's career.

That's my theory as well. Whatever experiment is going on, whether the FL was on board or not, the ML is derailing the experiment. Meaning that within the organisation in charge of the experiment, there's a mole, or a traitor, maybe Mr Xu? He sent her... to the ML, after all (the ML's strange phone activated when the FL landed in 2018). Maybe he wanted to save her?

It's an interesting theory. But in episode 1, Mr Xu asks the FL:

- if she likes herself in "this world" (the 2025 one)

- If she likes to live in "this world",

- to think, when she has free time, about why she came to this world the first time for a visit,

That seems to indicate that this world, 2025, is the Matrix one. Also, in 2025, she mentions her father more than once, she calls him, texts him but we never see him. And her texts when her frenemy vanishes? Mr Xu is the one receiving them, not her father. So she calls and texts her father's phone, but Mr Xu is the one receiving them.

Is there a father in this 2025 world? Maybe the FL has been programed to believe her father is alive but busy and indifferent and that's why she never sees him.

What if Mr Xu is the one who kicked her out of the Matrix? After all, he sent her at the right place, the right time, to have that accident that sent her to the 2018 world. Is Mr Xu the virus, or the ML? Maybe the ML is an innocent accomplice of virus Mr Xu?

Of course, there could be a twist and it's the ML who is in a coma, not the FL. But coma is probably involved because it's a Cdrama and when there's time travel, there's almost always a coma story involved.

He was scary in "The bionic life", obsessional and uncaring about people or colleagues. Not a nice character in that drama.

If there is really time travel/parallel world travel, it's possible that the ML's friend is not from the ML's universe. If he is from another universe and stayed for a few months, it explains why the ML and his friends can't find anything about him, pics, school records, college records, police records... nothing.

After all, it's possible that in this world, Mr Xu (the ML's friend who disappeared) was from World A, but there was no Mr Xu in World B (the ML's world).

Just a theory. I tend to think it's an experiment more than real travels between universes. But we'll see.

Ouch, this is getting complicated. Yes, as some said, the exes are back. BUT... It looks like they are part of the experiment. At least, the FL's ex-boyfriend is. Wait and see until the next episode for the ex-best friend.

The ex-boyfriend's mission is to bring the FL back. Where? in her technological coffin?

If so, did she escape? Or was there an accident, like... the car accident was in fact the coffin with the FL inside transported to another place, there was an accident, the truck containing her fell off the bridge and she survived that accident but her brain was damaged and she couldn't remember being part of the experiment?

Now the company doing that Matrix experiment wants her back. Why don't they abduct her? It's not as if they don't know where she is. She is living under her own identity, she is doing make up ads on social medias, it's easy to find her.

Interesting that the ML is described twice as a virus. Meaning, IMO, that he is not part of the experiment but is derailing it.

Time travel in a Cdrama? Huh huh. The only drama I have watched where it was actually time travel was "Love in time" (https://kisskh.at/707133-my-secret-roommate) and even then, it was more on the magical side than the scientific side and there was the FL from the future in a coma.

The simulation theory is one theory. The other is the parallel world/time travel one but China generally doesn't like those dramas so writers usually try to avoid censorship by having their dramas NOT being about time travel/parallel world, in the end.

I think if the simulation theory is the real one, once the FL realizes that, she will have accomplished so much on her own that it will be easier for her to accept that the Matrix world where she was rich was never her real world.

Because in this real world, she made friends, maybe found love, started from having no money once she woke up, to being a cleaner, then a hair stylist, then a make up artist and who knows where she will stop? Maybe she'll end up a succesful business woman on her own.
