I LOVED that, to be honest, Song Kang is RIPPED and I was NO expecting that. LET'S GO.
After watching Sweet home, I've totally been interested in Song Kang. I knew OF him but was never really interested in him as an actor but man I'm excited for this. I'm hoping that it doesn't take a nose dive and that the comedy doesn't take away from the thriller/action side but I'm really excited. As someone who is late to the party on Song Kang, he seems to have grown a lot from Sweet home since I only watched Sweet home recently after the hype and he's grown! Fingers crossed this ends up being a hidden gem or at least something enjoyable! Who knew a 4 day wait was this hard :P
I JUST finished watching season 1 yesterday; I waited till all the hype was gone since I thought the show was overrated which is why I'm so late to the game but season 2 trailer pushed me to watch season 1 and I'M SO GLAD I watched it even though I HATE survival horror, but man was I wrong. I haven't read the webtoon but I did some digging on the webtoon and characters and I have to say I like the drama better (speaking from only watching drama so that's probably why so please don't hate on me for liking the drama better). Though I do have to admit that some characters lacked a bit of development and OG characters were added (not that I minded it much). I personally am glad this is expanded OUTSIDE the complex however the impact of the song "sweet home" and title of the drama will be less now than compared to the webtoon now that the drama is straying from the webtoon. I personally LOVE the change however I do have to admit that some characters having their background changed or killed off made me SUPER sad, especially Katana man (we love you TT^TT) and Lee Wook's character possibly dying and becoming possessed. Either way CGI looks WAY better in the trailer and I do hope it is better than season 1 since some monsters (the one WITHOUT much CGI) looked super good whereas the protein monsters (BIG GUYS) really were.. just off and goofy because of the "bad" CGI it really lessened the impact of danger and scariness of SOME of the creatures. But gotta admit the weird blind monster (lotus root monster as referred in webtoon with it's head half cut off) WAS EPIC and I'm hoping the season 2 has more actors with a bit of CGI in them rather than full BLOWN CGI since THOSE monsters are more impactful if you ask me.
Season 1 music SLAPPED and my god the acting was AMAZING. Is it weird that I DON'T like the pairing between Ji Su's character and Cha Hyun (as it was hinted at in the webtoon) in the drama? I think it's because they changed Ji Su as a character and how she's more hostile towards him and hardly interacted with him and just seemed older than him and was more "romantically" involved with katana man so if they go the webtoon route with their "romance" it would be weird? I personally liked him with Eun yoo since she seemed to like him more. Plus their hand sign scene was adorable.
Side note I REALLY hope they bring Cha Hyun's fully transformed monster out from the webtoon (black knight) but I REALLY liked his new design (wings) which are giving me Tokyo Ghoul vibes. Either way I'm gonna have to rewatch season 1 again. But I'm VERY happy and glad I watched this only 2 weeks before season 2 release rather than super early. To all those who waited patiently for 3 years... BLESS YOUR SOULS :(
Also can someone PLEASE explain to me what REALLY happened to the mom who turned into a baby or something? Like she did something weird in the bathroom and I don't get it. She lost her baby which I get but was she trying to have another baby as a monster? Also firefighter lady is an OG character I think so her baby will be a hybrid but I don't think she'll be able to survive child birth (as we see in the first trailer she's on the ice field and writhing in pain and bones are breaking so she's probably not gonna make it.. which is giving me Walking dead season 1 Rick's wife vibes).
Either way everyone waiting for season 2 it ITCHING for more and so am I. I CAN'T WAIT.
Definitely should give it a go. Though we are not 100% sure how the ending would go, I have a strong feeling they…
If there's some similarity to 18 again I might give it a go. I don't mind bittersweet endings but I'm really hoping for a HE or bittersweet one worst case.
I've been meaning to give this a watch since I saw some of the trailers but I'm afraid of a Sad ending. I'm skimming through the comment section and now I'm worried. Is it worth the watch? There's only 1 episode left and I'm really interested in this since it gives me "18 Again" vibes but I'm concerned. Also I don't mind SMALL spoilers but do father and son find out about each other? Ratings seems good but I'm still wondering if I should give this a go.
Personally, after sifting through this scary comments section, I was actually one of the few people who enjoyed it? Like sure the acting was a bit stiff but learning that these guys are NEW and that they're a KPOP idol group OnlyOneOf was VERY nice to hear about. The fact they weren't that scared to GO THERE was a pleasant surprise. "A Shoulder to cry on" did the same thing so I appreciate kpop Idols for that far. I'm also a small fan of OnlyOneOf and it was sad to hear one member leave a while ago so it was a wonderful surprise to find out they acted in this. Overall I was very happy that a Kiss scene was even included and wasn't expecting it at all but I do admit that the short length of the series and cramped story telling and rushed ending fell flat for me. Overall I've seen MUCH worse in terms of acting, chemistry, and story telling but as everyone else has stated, there's room for improvement.
It's super sad to see that Korea is STILL homophobic after THIS long considering how, when Korea wants to, they can make some BANGER BL if enough time and investment is given. Like OnlyOneOf is one of the few groups that I know of that support in LGBTQ stuff so WHY THE HATE. We should be proud of these boys and in all honestly GOOD FOR THEM! Here's to hoping for more acting opportunities for these guys!
This was a pleasant surprise. To be honest this came out of nowhere for me since I only watch a few THAI BLs as they're mostly not my thing and instead I enjoy KBL, but man this was a nice start. I'm assuming it's based off the Korean webtoon (I never read that one) but I've been seeing as of late where Thai BL actors are acting in Korean BL or based off of Korean BL which is a nice surprise! I wasn't expecting to like this much as, for me, most THAI BL have either annoying characters or just feel... off? But I really enjoyed this one! I liked the acting and chemistry and I enjoyed a new fresh plot in comparison to the MANY Cliche Thai BL I used to see. I'm hoping this will go places and I'm excited.
PS. can we all agree that the bar scene with Tew texting as Yuri was hilarious? LIKE MAN WAS SO SMITTEN he was texting while fighting and it was hilarious.
Gotta admit.. when I first saw the first episode I was like nahh pass but then my mom was like WATCH IT and I was sitting thinking ... I'm bored might as well, and BOY AM I GLAD I DID. Although it is cliche, cringe worthy and dorky, I LOVE IT. I'm a sap for romance so this was honestly something nice to watch when you're bored and just want to watch beautiful people in a romance setting act lovey dovey and Jesus I love it. I've seen my fare share of mini-series and this one is pretty good for something so short. The problem with mini-series is that they don't drive the plot or the acting is woodblock but this one manages to avoid both problems. Although there are some plot holes and cliche tropes, I love the atmosphere between the lead couple and HOLY HOT DAMN this is my first time seeing Dai Gao Zheng as an actor but man he plays his role well. The sizzling tension between them is what is carrying the series I think for a lot of people and I CAN'T THINK WHEN DAI GAO is there. Man is handsome and knows it but his switch from cold to hot is wonderful to see and their awkward tension is well scripted.
I recommend this for the tension and main couple. The pacing is actually not bad and although the script is cliche, the acting is pretty solid. Great way to pass the time and squeal with joy when Dai Gao Zheng is on screen. Also Chen Fang acting blind... pretty darn good! I'm not sure how the actors don't blink and it makes it believable so she did a wonderful job. Honestly acting blind isn't easy so props to her.
The waiting for each episode for the next week is gonna be painful :P
Gotta say this one is interesting! I like the blend of mystery/supernatural and comedy romance. Although people didn't like the combo I'm down for it! This is one of those dramas that you can just watch for fun and I appreciate it for what it is. I gotta say I love that Rowoon in a different role this time round. I've seen him play the cute, puppy happy ML so many times so this is refreshing. Nice call backs to his drama Tomorrow which I loved. Personally I think that the "hand" is a ghost/vengeful spirit that he might have accidentally gotten the person killed during his court trials; either through a decision he made, (like he did on the construction worker's wife by twisting the story to fit the narrative for his client) or a family member, which is why the ghost likes him. I think the ghost is either trying to possess him or hurting him causing his disease since it was caressing the side of face and head where the disease is so I wouldn't be shocked if it was slowly killing him.
I think the "shrine" and his grandma are possibly Shamans and that Jo Bo's character, Lee Hong, is a descendant of a shaman. It would explain why his grandma was acting weird and talking about a box and why Lee Hong was having a prediction dream of the youtuber dying at the shrine. Not to mention in ep. 2 preview, there were scrolls and shaman items in the box so most likely she's a descendant of a shaman.
Another, far reaching theory I have is that, both Rowoon Jo Bo An's character's are connected to the shrine since they both had a dream about it. Far fetched, but maybe they were reincarnated and Jo Bo was a priestess/shaman in the past and Rowoon was a lord in possession of the land and something happened to make the curse pass on his family since his grandpa (blind guy) was saying he was the only one who lived to his 70s.. weird predictions but the story is interesting enough so far to keep me watching.
what do you mean? the subber has hardsubs in his carrd
which twitter account? Can you please direct me? Sorry but which subber since drama-otaku is the only one that just has the link to their website. I don't see hardsubs :(
