Finally able to fully process my thoughts and feeling about the ending.imo, it wasn’t a BE but rather a Hopeful…
1. The upbeat background music and LSS smiling while talking to her daughter at Mohe River 2. TTJ isn’t completely lost, a fragment of his soul is in the Heart Guarding Scale, and that fragment of soul is also smiling contently 3. The drama purposely choose to flash forward to 500 years instead of 1000 years like in the novel. Going by this LSS would still be in the process of collecting his souls, so it made sense at this point in time TTJ hadn’t reincarnated yet!
imo the the choice of timing and the bgm and the smile made my heart feel less heavy, that “yes some things will take time but it’s ok we’ll get there eventually”
Turns out they’re just strangers who only met few days prior, know next to nothing about each other (she doesn’t…
Thanks for the info! You’re right that would’ve made a lot more sense!
Hmm wonder why they changed that? Probably because they don’t wanna dive into why Min Hui wanted to suicide bc that would’ve opened a whole nother pandora box of sub-plots. But if they wanna cut that part out at least they should’ve made them close/old friends or something because that would’ve provided a stronger anchor/motivation for the subsequent events.
Need to talk about Min Hui and Su Tian’s friendship in EP17:
Turns out they’re just strangers who only met few days prior, know next to nothing about each other (she doesn’t even knew Su Tian grew up in an orphanage), and just happen to sit side-by-side in the bus on the incident day???
Like.. am I the only one who thought they were best friends or long time friends prior to that flashback?
And how did Min Hui just happen to conveniently have that childhood photo of Su Tian and her brother during the rainy scene with Jiajun at Shian Town? You can’t tell me she keeps that photo in a wallet or something and bring it with her everywhere just for nostalgic reasons, it’s a childhood photo of someone else and it wasn’t even her best friend or someone she felt indebted to (all Su Tian did was try to cheer her up when she’s sad, not save her from a life threatening situation or something).
A question, if I skip the dream arc, will I miss any important plot points? Not really interested in the side…
The first 2 episodes of the dream arc might feel a bit boring as if nothing important is really happening, but it will get really interesting starting EP14 onwards. Everything that happens in the dream arc will play a major clue for the last 12 episodes of the series (immortal realm arc).
The author has a few more web novels, but none of them have been made into movies or dramas. https://www.novelupdates.com/nauthor/teng-luo-wei-zhi/?sort=6&order=2&status=1
Thanks for this list! :)
Hmm interesting, looks like TTEOTM is the only novel she wrote in xianxia setting, the others all seems to be modern.
One hundred years ago, Xuanyi Demon Lord entered the imperial tomb alone. He changed into white clothes,…
fuck i know i’m gonna cry reading this, but i UNDERESTIMATED how much i would cry. now i can’t even imagine when this scene comes out in the drama how much of a wreck i’d be.
Maybe only at special gatherings?I glanced over a few scenes, and she didn't wear heels in any of them.
Saying she wear heels all the time is an exaggeration on my part haha, but what I meant to say is she was already seen wearing heels MANY TIMES before (not just for special gatherings but also for work) e.g. EP1 with the white suits, EP2 with the cream suits, EP3/4 with the brown suits, EP7 - again with the brown suits, and maybe a couple more times since that. Though it does seems she only wear heels when she’s wearing proper suits (mostly on days where she has important meetings or presentations), and prefers sneakers/loafers on days she pairs her office blazers with jeans/skirts/shorts.
I feel like that line would’ve worked better if she said “I don’t really wear heels this fancy” rather than “I don’t really wear heels”, bc the heels she wears to work are only plain ones rather than something with a big bow.
if the story itself is quite happy, perhaps it’s worth giving it a try even if the ending is OE! I just need something less sad to distract me rn from the final 5 ep of TTEOTM. Thanks for the rec.
Oh that’s so rare to have a healthy relationship couple in xianxia/wuxia dramaland! ok fine i think i will give it a try since i need distraction from TTEOTM. Thanks!
EP35 is such a happy place! Even the little torture scene at the start of ep was ok because it showed how Immortal Zhaoyou & Chief Qu believed in CJM, and LSS protecting CJM. I bet he feels warm and loved inside despite the pain! And LSS finally being open and honest with her feeling for CJM/TTJ, no pretenses or ulterior motives.
Should I just stop watching at EP35, then wait until EP40 for one of yall to spoil the ending here whether BE or HE and only then decide whether to continue watching?? I really don’t wanna move on from this episode, wanna be like Ming Ye trap in the Bo’re Life except my Bo’re Life is EP35!

Kinda curious and wanna check them out while waiting till Ep40
