For the first time, I was actually cheering for Xiao Yuanyi AND CSS! I'm so glad they were able to work together to deal with the nasty Lou women, but like someone else said, CSS disappointed me when she hesitated after being asked to become a concubine. I know she wanted to hear directly from LY so she would know if she should keep fighting, but I don't believe that was the right moment. I can't see how she plans to still marry into that family after the slaps and the humiliation between the families. This is why LBY asked her to calm down and be patient even if she was going to marry LY. She's so desperate to escape her family situation that she's willing to do anything which will of course lead to more conflict with her mother.

I don't really understand LBY's backstory or what exactly caused his mother to break, so although I know he got revenge by killing that man, it wasn't particularly satisfying to me since I don't know why. I'm glad he's getting his revenge though.

Honestly, there's no explanation they could've given for him killing her that would make him redeemable. The old…
I truly cannot say at this point because he seems to only be using ML to further his own agenda. Maybe his agenda is going to be on the good side in the end, but the way he achieves it is definitely not good.

That's it ? really? that was the reason he was ordered to kill the grandmother and he went ahead and did it? this…
Honestly, there's no explanation they could've given for him killing her that would make him redeemable. The old man is such a dirty bastard and I hope he's suffering wherever he is now.

Title Insider Spoiler
I was hesitant to start this drama but once I got in, I was hooked. In fact, I became so invested that I felt the same level of betrayal as Yo Han when his grandmother's killer was revealed. By ep 12 it looks like everything is going the way Yo Han wants, but I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. When will he suddenly lose his footing and become desperate again? It may/may not happen but I'm too much of a pessimist to believe that this drama will end with him getting his way until the end.

It also looks like Soo Yeon and Yo Han are starting to drift apart in their objectives so maybe that's where his problems will start. I'm not really sure what's going on with MJH and Director Jin cos it felt like MJH was the loose cannon that would ruin everything at first, but now it seems he's right where Yo Han wants him to be. Not to mention a rogue Sun Oh! I don't know what that crazy, desperate, man is going to do especially now that he's lost his puppet master. I'm excited for the conclusion of this show.

Just want to remind everyone, we have entered a new chapter and era for the show. We see Mudeok hairstyle to be…
Exactly. I don't agree with the complaints about slow pacing because there are still 11 episodes to go. If everything suddenly came to a head in ep 15 then what next? I'm enjoying the pacing so far, cos it's taking us on the journey along with the characters. I'm looking forward to what comes next.

Because Janguk don't know how he was born. Even though he will know he has king star and won't show interest in…
That's my point though. He doesn't know, and he wouldn't want it even if he suddenly found out. And if they had just moved on no one would know. But they keep doing things in anticipation of someone coming to fight them for the throne so eventually someone will.

Title Alchemy of Souls Spoiler
I'm wondering where this new thief is going to take things because Mu-deok will definitely not remember her, and she will be mistaken for the lost Jin daughter because she has Mu-deok's branded cloth. Things keep getting more and more complicated for Mu-deok and she doesn't even know it 😂

It was sad seeing Yul get that Mu-deok and Jang Uk have a strong, albeit strange bond that exists to the exclusion of everyone else. I get the feeling he's only ever been put out by emotions twice in his life and both times by Naksu. As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment with the Crown Prince, but my fave was him counting down to Mu-deok's arrival 😂 their interactions are the best and I hope they spend more time together. I actually want the CP to become king and Uk to be the best mage, and the two of them to be best friends who keep the nation safe. They have amazing bff potential, if only they would realize it.

Another excellent episode. I'm losing my patience with the Songrim leader cos if the preview is to be believed, he's up to no good, yet again. If he won't teach Uk like he's supposed to, then he really needs to get out of the way and let the young man flourish.

Also, it's so funny and stupid that the queen and everyone else are so obsessed with the King Star but no one cares that Jang Uk is completely uninterested in being a leader in any way. In a way it's the self fulfilling prophecy of Oedipus. If Jang Gang had simply raised his son to be his son, maybe there wouldn't be people scheming to murder Uk now. Same goes for the queen and her cohorts. No one is trying to take the throne from them but they're so busy scheming that they'll scheme their way out of the palace in a minute.

This was a fun time! I wasn't expecting much but I actually enjoyed myself all through this. It's not deep or heavy, and it is quite over the top in some aspects, but it knows what it is and it delivers on all its promises. I'd give this a solid 8/10.

Title Why Her?
I think I would've liked this a lot more if there was no romance at all and it was just about OSJ taking down the people that wronged her and helping her clients along the way. I enjoy all the parts with the corporate politics and the ways she has to stay ahead of the sly old chairman at the law firm. Even now (at ep 12), I'm not certain she's staying ahead of him cos he seems to have everything set up. I'm staying with this to see how it all plays out in the end.

The three men having feelings for CSS is all well and good, but only Lou Yao has actually confessed and asked for her hand in marriage. I can understand why she doesn't even consider anyone else, since they haven't indicated any interest and she still has those voices in her head telling her that she's not worthy.

And also the fact that she was repeatedly told that no one would want to marry a girl like her
This in particular! She's been told over and over that she's unworthy of love and she's the wrong sort since she was born, and even her mother who's supposed to love her can't seem to show that she even likes her. Of course she's going to pick the path that's the most comfortable and logical for what she think she deserves.

It continues to frustrate me that Xiao Yuanyi cannot find it within herself to even approach CSS as anything more than a stubborn child that needs to be scolded 24/7. She doesn't acknowledge any of the hard work CSS put into rebuilding the county, or helping the people, and then even when she has valid points about the marriage, she just screams at CSS instead of actually talking to her (or anyone for that matter). She's right about CSS getting married too soon, but I don't understand why she has to attack CSS every time when the poor girl just wants a mother. The truth is CSS doesn't know what it means to be in love and she could probably be convinced to delay the marriage for a while if only her mother wasn't a complete idiot.

Also, I didn't expect the emperor to be so loveable so that was a pleasant surprise.

Title Alchemy of Souls Spoiler
Seems like several theories were proven right with ep 7. Naksu's father was a soul shifter gone wild, and it was all because of that blasted king star. We're still left wondering about Mu-deok because in the mirror, it was mentioned that she's the stone all the dark magic comes from, and I noticed that in the story that was told about the stone, one of the mages who performed the ritual was a blind woman (who kinda looked like Mu-deok). If she's that mage, it would make her ancient and it seems that they couldn't fully destroy the stone so they divided it's power instead and locked it away inside of her. If she really was the missing Jin daughter, her mother would've recognized her, I think. (Also maybe the pull of the magic in her was strong enough to disrupt the soul transfer Naksu originally had in mind)

Also, the cliffhanger at the end of 7! I wonder if Mu-deok will do something to mess up this soul transfer again.

It's really sad that CSS and her mother have so much in common but they can't see it because her mother is too hard-headed to take advice or just simply talk to CSS the way she should. I was so proud of CSS for being so calm in the face of danger. She clearly takes after her parents and she'll need that toughness going forward. Her third uncle is a constant source of laughter and I love him competing with CSS for the aunt's attention. I'm looking forward to the coming adventure.

Yuanyi seems to forget that she is not at war anymore and that Shaoshang isn't one of her soldiers tbh to me it…
Exactly. She acts like she hates Shaoshang because even when someone else is being nice to CSS, she gets upset. Why would you be mad about someone else just being good to your own daughter? She keeps making very obvious mistakes and she isn't willing to learn or listen to anyone else. I will also be dissatisfied with her character development no matter what, at this point.

I wonder if CSS's mother thinks that this kind of approach is what made Yangyang into the girl she is now. She loves pointing out how wonderful YY is compared to CSS, but she didn't raise YY and she's not treating CSS the way YY was treated by the aunt who raised her. She claims CSS is a horrible child but won't admit that she's a horrible mother so where do they even start?

The bridge thing was hilarious but also very risky cos someone could've been seriously hurt, so CSS deserved some punishment. However, as usual, her mother takes it to the extreme because she can't compromise or back down once her hackles are up. I'm glad CSS is leaving now and I hope she finally gets to experience a regular life without the constant fear of punishment.

she may be just satisfying her ego enjoying being a good person with the title of treating other people's child…
Honestly, when the aunt said that I was hoping she would listen, but instead she just justified her own wrongdoing and kept doing the wrong thing. I can't stand her.

CSS's analogy of giving bread to a starving person or a half-full person was so moving and so dead-on, made me…
It was very obvious that her mother knew CSS was right but for whatever stupid reason, she keeps opting to put CSS down in favour of everyone else. She doesn't even defend her behind her back so we can say maybe she's just harsh to CSS in person but she actually cares about her. At this point, I find it hard to believe she even wants CSS as a child.

It's so funny how CSS's mother can't seem to see anything beyond her own nose. She criticises anyone who gives CSS a gift cos they didn't also get something for Yangyang, but then goes on a shopping spree for YY without so much as a glance in CSS's direction. She's a complete hypocrite and everyone tells her this but she just doesn't seem to get it. Her sister-in-law told her everything everyone in this comment section has said about her behaviour (more or less), and her response was oh but YY is such a good girl. If CSS was a lesser person, this treatment would've made her hate Yangyang for no reason. Luckily CSS is sensible and now she has her brothers and her good aunt to look out for her. It was really sad that the first time anyone stood up for CSS it was her brothers defending her from their mother's stupidity.
