Three Stars

It's the conclusion to the first round of the games! So naturally everything's going crazy!

Unfortunately for me, this version isn't keeping my attention as much as the Japanese version does and isn't the dark, corrupted, mysterious games that it can be - yet! But I'm quite sure this version will quickly bring me what I want!

As for the characters and actors; I am liking this version of Akiyama/Cha Woo Jin and I am loving Shin Sung Rok's performance through and through!

The upside to this version being a TV Game, is showing how corrupt this TV station can be (I'm not pointing fingers at RL TV stations nor saying there are stations like that) and as we saw at the end; is loving exploiting it's contestants.

I will carry on watching but hope for thing to really spice up! Also; WHY U ONLY 12 EPISODES?! xD

Liar Game - Episode 2

I have given up comparing this adaption to the original, because alone, this adaption is actually quite intriguing. Nevertheless, for the sake of a fair review, I will compare this adaption to the original Japanese version (but not the manga).

This episode picks up the pace, a little bit. There's much more going on now, and we finally get into the details of the characters and the nitty gritty of the actual Liar Game show within the drama. One good thing about this adaption is that it goes into the reasons for the game, the selection process, and the background of the characters much faster than the Japanese version (which took two seasons to get everything out), granted, there are still things that are a mystery, but I feel that the pacing of this drama is nice and steady (and I actually think it's matching the pace of the original Japanese version very well with all of the added plot lines and what not)

Lee Sang Yoon still doesn't feel like an Akiyama, but I can tell he is doing his best and I'm satisfied with the character he is bringing to the table (but again, he is no Matsuda Shota). Shin Sung Rok is also doing surprisingly well with his character, and his casting doesn't feel so regrettable anymore.
Overall, the adaption is doing a good job of carrying the story line and presenting things in a new light rather than just a copy of the original series. There is a lot of potential here, though there is still ten episodes left and plenty of room to anger Liar Game fans. Fingers crossed that they keep up this momentum and make us beg for more.

But I think the only way a Liar Games fan will be able to enjoy this show is if they stay objective and don't compare and contrast the two, because really, I'm enjoying this series quite well so far and I'm excited for more.
