Discomfort due to the lack of respect

This guy must be a hater of the original story. Since when does Kim Dokja hate TWSA and act like a hero? Since when is Sangah a healer? That role belonged to Seolhwa! Where are my four crazy constellation girls from the beginning?

The result of this adaptation is clearly a lack of respect toward those who came to watch it—whether for the novel or for the actors. They made both sides fight and criticize each other, when the real problem is the director.

If you're a fan of either side and truly support the actors or the original work, stop watching this or giving it a good rating. Otherwise, you're just showing that your story or your favorite actor is something that can be stepped on like it's worthless.

A DISAPPOINTMENT IN KOREANS MANWHA'S AND NOVELS

Just like what this guys said that I found in one of the reviews "This movie has changed and disrespected the original source material to the point where it's completely unrecognizable, from the little details to the overall messages and symbolism that ORV tried to convey, everything had been completely butchered. As an adaptation, it fails in every aspect. As a movie, the cinematography is amateurish, the script sounds AI generated, the CGI is a joke, and some actors with major supporting roles are just completely sidelined for no particular reason; it's underwhelming, to say the least.

This isn't a matter of an "accurate adaptation" anymore. This is setting a precedence for future adaptations to completely mess up a beloved story by removing all the aspects that make it good in the first place. ORV isn't loved because it's a generic male power fantasy, it's loved because the story subverts this. By stripping away everything to adhere to the general audience's expectations, there won't be anything left to love. There is genuinely so many things wrong with this movie from the erasure of Korean history to even misogyny (which wouldn't be noticed if viewers don't know the original story).

ORV is a love letter for its readers, but this movie spat on it, tore it with a paper shredder, stomped on it repeatedly, burned it, and threw the ashes into the ocean."

Honestly it would also be a DISAPPOINTMENT to us reader of manwha's and novels, what even is the whole point of making the la - live adaptation, on this manwha. If their gonna change the whole purpose or plot of the story they should've just changed the title too. It’s a total disaster

As a longtime fan of Omniscient Reader, I had hopes for this movie, but it really let me down. This movie was honestly painful to sit through. It completely disrespects the source material — major plot changes, wrong character portrayals, and decisions that make absolutely no sense if you know the original story. The creators clearly cared more about using big-name actors for hype than staying true to what made the novel great.

The pacing is chaotic, with too many plot holes and zero emotional buildup. It feels more like a cash-grab than a real adaptation. If you haven’t read the novel, you’ll be confused. If you have, you’ll just be angry. Nothing about this feels faithful, and calling it “creative liberty” is a joke.

Visually, it might look okay, but that’s about the only thing going for it. Everything else? A disaster.

do better

If you’re thinking of watching the Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint live action… Please don’t. Like seriously, just read the novel or the manhwa instead. It’s so much better. The live action barely even feels like the same story.

I haven’t even watched the full thing myself tbh but from everything I’ve seen and what people have been saying, I can confidently say it’s just Not it. The changes they made?? Wild. And if you actually care about the original, it’s kinda painful hearing what they did to it.

First of all WHY are they saying Dokja hated Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse (TWSA)??? No he didn’t. He literally LOVED it. He was the only reader left by the end, like he stayed with it from chapter 1 to the end. The author wouldn’t have even been able to keep writing without him. That story meant everything to Dokja—it was literally his reason to live.

And then they’re saying he was a bully?? What??? Dokja was the one getting bullied. He was quiet, alone, and barely holding it together. The novel was his escape, it was all he had. Flipping his whole backstory like that just completely messes up his character.

The casting too 😭 I’m not tryna be mean or anything but the actors just don’t feel like the characters. It’s not just about appearance either, they just don’t give off the same energy at all. The whole thing feels super disconnected.

Also Yoo Sangah being a healer now?? Since when. She had thread-based abilities and she was strong in such a calm quiet way. They really just took that and tossed it. For what.

Heewon using a gun instead of a sword is crazy too. Like her whole constellation was tied to justice and the sword was such a big part of that. Also she wasn’t even supposed to be in the story until Dokja entered TWSA and changed the plot. But in the live action they made her the protagonist?? That’s not how any of this goes.

Joonghyuk was the actual protagonist of TWSA. In the novel, Dokja spent years reading about him and admiring him from behind a screen. It wasn’t a bond or anything like that, not at first—Dokja just idolized him. He was obsessed with watching his journey and surviving alongside him from the outside. That whole dynamic was super important and they barely even touch it in the adaptation.

Idk. It just sucks seeing a story that meant so much get turned into something that barely feels like ORV. It doesn’t have the emotion, the depth, or the weight of the original. It’s just not the same at all.

If this is your first time hearing about ORV please please read the novel or the manhwa first. That’s the real story. This live action ain’t it. ORV deserved so much better.

To whoever directed this please do better and actually take criticism.

DON'T WATCH THIS SHI

If you're in for the story just read the novel or webtoon instead because this shi changed everything from the original story to the point it's not recognizable anymore. The CGI is bad, the lines are bad, the very "ADAPTATION" is bad. They butchered my favorite novel and I refuse to acknowledge this as "Omniscient Reader" blergh. I gave 2 stars out of respect for the actors but that's it, just read the novel instead. CLEARING THINGS UP

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY.

i was never the type to write reviews to simply hate, i never even write reviews even to movies i like but there's been tension going around involving the orv readers and to those who just wants to watch the movie bcs your favorite actors are playing the roles.

well, the readers arent just hating on the movie for reasons you think it is. we are just expressing our disappointment, we know live actions to most manhwas cannot really be perfect but changing the whole plot? that's a different story.

let's start with the title, "Omniscient Reader; the Prophecy" is already wrong, Kim Dokja, the main protagonist in the story isnt a prophet in anyway, if you've read the novel or the manhwa you'll know he never claimed himself to be a prophet or to be called as one.

next is the weapons, they're using guns, which aside from gong pildu's tanks and sht arent in the movie. they use swords, which is significant considering the minor constellations being significant ancient korean characters.

and the plot? the skills, the backstories? completely changed which is also obviously very significant to the story. yoo sangah, a woman who doesnt want to be seen as weak just because she's a woman is suddenly turned into a healer instead of a powerful fighter sponsored by the entire olympus nebula, a group of powerful greek gods. and kim dokja turned into a literal murderer, which contradicts to the real story, the real reason why he started reading twsa like WTF?!

and really guys, blinks? jisoo's supporters? we know you just want to see your idol in a movie but dont yall get it? they're only using her to promote the LA (if you dont believe me, look at the first movie poster, then the new one with jisoo in the front.) im not hating on your idol, infact i also like a few of her songs and follow her on social medias too. but y'all gotta wake up, we ain't hating on your idol. let's also talk about how her character, lee jihye is shipped to yoo joonghyuk, lee minho's character.

the relationship between two is purely a master and a student, lee jihye idolizes yoo joonghyuk for his skills in fighting and wants to be like him. lee jihye is a highschool student while lee joonghyuk is 28 when the scenarios started (in three ways of survival) it's just so wrong.

there are alot fo characters I'd like to talk about but then it will only make this very long. so i suggest yall start reading the novel, or atleast the manhwa to get a gist of what really happens in the story.

WE HATE THE DIRECTOR FOR CHANGING THE ENTIRE STORY that probably also helped alot of people. it might sound cliche but i know there are alot of people who resonated with kim dokja.

did y'all think that if this story wasnt well written alot of its fans would be so mad by the DRASTIC changes it made in the LA? if you only knew how excited everyone was when it was revealed that ORV was getting a LA but as the progressed it only seemed to get worse since the trailer was released.

Changed EVERYTHING in the og novel.

Trash. Don't even bother watching this adapted version, and instead just read the original novel or webtoon. Its leagues better than what this movie is. It's insulting to the og readers seeing all the weird and uneeded changes the director made in this movie and it completely feels like a plagiarized version of ORV instead of an actual adaptation. They could've listened to the complaints and criticism online and make changes that were desperately needed but noooo, they insisted on making Sangah a healer, KDJ hating twsa (the novel that LITERALLY saved his life), YJH being a side character (which is so STUPID??), heewon being the mc instead which, again, she wasnt even an important character in the og, AND kdj is a bully in the movie??? That's honestly crazy disrespectful to his character and backstory.

Final review: Trash. They could've made this a standalone movie and it would've done well, but the fact is based off of ORV? It deserves the hate. And the only people that would watch and enjoy this are the fans of the actors... Don't watch.

Never direct again bro because what the hell is this? First it was the labubu bihyoung, then the guns, then now Kim Dokja’s entire character, trauma, motivations, what kept him ALIVE is ruined. There was much potential to make a good live action, but you decided to make this instead. A disappointment, soulless, Ai generated like script that you shove into our faces and think we’d like? The only people who give 10 stars are bots, kdrama fans and blinks. No sensible person who has read one chapter of orv would like this. Honestly I’m so glad that this is flopping. VERY INACCURATE, HORRIBLE PORTRAYAL

As someone who read and loved Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, watching Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy was a deeply frustrating experience. The movie takes the complex, layered narrative of the novel and reduces it to a simplified, commercial action flick that barely resembles the source material.

First and foremost, the characters are completely mishandled. Kim Dokja’s depth — his psychological struggle, inner monologues, and slow evolution — is lost entirely. In the film, he’s portrayed as a generic hero with none of the quiet intensity or existential weight that makes him compelling in the novel. Yoo Joonghyuk is similarly mischaracterized, coming off as one-dimensional and overly emotional instead of the cold, calculating regressor fans know. Ts is garbage

It's not even the actors that are the problem here (idk any of them and its my first time here lol)

The changes are too much, and it sucks ass. Nothing is salvaging this flop adaptation. I've heard about all the changes they made to the movie, and it's enough for me to know that it's THAT bad.

First of all, they made KDJ too OOC, He's not some goody two shoes that wants to save the world. In the early chapters of ORV, it was established that KDJ wants to get the ending that he wants. He does not give a fuck about saving anyone that he doesn't know or care about. I was told that he just hates the novel TWSA, you mean the literal novel he's been reading for 13 years? the novel that literally save his life?? what the fuck. They changed the TWSA novel's protag from YJH to JHW, I love my girl JHW but she wasn't even in the novel, KDJ didn't even know who she was and also the movie removed her trauma as a SA victim?? wow way to silence SA survivors LA ORV. YSA was changed to be a healer when she literally does anything but healing?? Talk about misogyny, just because she's a woman, she's supposed to be the healer?.
Don't even get me started with LSK, she was changed and got turned into a sick mother who's getting taken care of by her son when she's supposed to be in prison for standing up for herself and killing her abusive husband. What the fuck happened to that?! Absolute Trash
