Storyline seems to be a combo/ copy of movies "My Fault" and "Fast and Furious" "

This storyline is not very original as it appears to be a copy from the very popular drama "My Fault" in which, mother father divorced, mother married a rich guy and takes her teenage daughter to live with her and the rich stepfather also has a son same age as stepsister. Bad boy step brother is heavily into illegal car racing, young, parties, fighting etc. Hot stepsister and hot stepbrother fall in love, (not blood relatives either) heavy love scenes, parties. fight club scenes. Even the stepsister' s father figure is the same, a burned out race car driver who taught his daughter how to race, pretty much the same storyline.
And the rest of this story is from "Fast and Furious" major competition and lots of car races, etc. So..,at least 80% of the story is cut and pasted from above movies.
I also found the story development pretty slow and boring in some places. I give it a 8 based on the perfect casting, great chemistry between ML and FL. I loved most of the wardrobe and styles of both male and female characters except the FL wedding dress in the end that was pretty ugly. Great job production crew and all the actors. Loved the music

Exhausting, sad, chaotic, confusing storyline

First of all: Let me pay my respect and tribute to Alan Yu (Yu Meng Long) as it was wonderful to see him in this drama which sadly, probably was his last performance/appearance. I have been devastated by the tragic end of such beautiful, young, talented, very much beloved actor/individual. Rest in peace Alan❤️

As for the show, I watched this show mainly because I am a big fan of Bai Lu and Joseph Zeng. Having seen pretty much all of Bai Lu C dramas, I must say her character in this drama is not my favorite. Bai Lu is a very talented, beautiful young actress and her forte is her unique facial expressions that bring the likeability to each and all characters she plays. So her being cast in this drama as a cold, unhappy, angry, frozen faced FL is just not impressive or even likeable most of the time. This drama is good if you like stabbings, beatings, blood, killings, hate, grudge, revenge over and over with very, very little lukewarm romance thrown in a few times here and there
For me, the storyline was very confusing like someone just cut and pasted the scenes together without rhime and rhythm. The ML gets stabbed over and over at least 15 times and then walks away as the story cuts to another scene like nothing happened. There is complete chaos as the scenes simply don't fit together and even though, eventually there are explanations in later scenes, some of which makes no sense at all, and by then, I was sooo exhausted by the chaos and long winded dialogs that I stopped caring and fast forwarded a lot just to end the misery.

Good stuff: beautiful visuals, gorgeous scenery and set designs along with absolutely gorgeous outfits. I also loved the music and the special effects, fights and spells. The casting was also perfect with many beautiful, talented actors. You can tell that this show was created by a lot of talented people. Thank you all for the great entertainment.

Disappointed

I was very happy to have found a good C drama with a wonderful/talented cast, exciting storyline and beautiful music and scenery. Until.....halfway through the series, it all went downhill. Way too many plots and schemes and bad guys after bad guys, bad plots, after bad plots, it became way, way too much and too confusing. Even the FL lead became unlikeable and cold/ aligning with the enemy for no reason. I honestly didn't think that the ML and FL had any chemistry to begin with and the writers have chosen to write off the little chemistry there might have been to make the FL cold and unlikable. Ending was rushed and ignored all the rest of the characters' futures or follow up stories in lieu of an ambiguous end for the lead characters. I would not watch this again, way too depressing and complicated for no reason....unless......they would make a follow up part 2 with all the couples development, coronation of new emperor, ML /FL character growth and an overall happier storyline.

Misleading Title, there is NO Romance only a full cast of unlikeable characters

My bad ..I usually check out viewers' comments before spending my precious time watching a C/drama series. Unfortunately, not this time as I was too excited to watch Wallace Chung in his new role....big mistake!
I don't know how did they convince Wallace Chung to play in this awful/trainwreck of a production. I wish he didn't play that unlikeable, gutless Mama's boy without a spine character. I have been wondering if this story was written and directed by AI as there was not even one character that was likeable or humanly relatable. The writers and director seem to have forgotten the very basics of good story telling, ie. To capture/hook your audience, an interesting storyline beginning is a must. Secondly, creating likeable characters (couples with great chemistry in romance movies) to get the viewers become emotionally invested, empathize and follow the characters throughout until the end. In this drama, I honestly couldn't find any likeable character, be as the main leads or supporting characters.
1. Vicious/Vile Mom and her whole family
2. ML /Spineless, gutless Momma's boy with very poor judgement in all areas of his life ( not likeable)
3. FL /soft whispering doormat cold as an iceberg with no feelings or sincere empathy to anyone but herself
4. "Best friend"/ vicious, jealous, parasite living off his brother too lazy to work and no skills
5. Brother of best friend- he may get 1 point for likeability for being kind and helpful but totally clueless
6. Father of FL - What father abandons his daughter and disappears for 10 years without a word when she needs him the most?
7. "Fiance" of the ML/ A calculating woman using his kid to marry a man who clearly doesn't love her, red flag ignored, i.e. there is absolutely no physical touch of any kind between the two.. don't matter to her
8. Kid/ good little actor but his character is not really likeable as he comes across as an entitled/ spoiled nosy kid that all adults around him should worship and obey
SO BASICALLY, there is not even one character that the viewer could like and truly feel for and emphasize with.
Not to mention the huge holes in the storyline, i.e. ML was frantically searching for the FL by knocking on random doors in France, when he knew very well which exact ballet institute the FL applied to and the ballet circle being small, it would have been easy to find. OR, how did MIL get away with possessing the child, where were the hospital staff, nurses, doctors, social services that is required to sign over custody not to mention if the child didn't make it, by law, this has to be disclosed to the mother. Did the FL even ask for the funeral arrangements of her baby? Huge inconsistencies. OVERALL, this is a very upsetting series, characters with robot like cold emotions, and lack of it, negligent attitudes, this is perfect as an example of an AI written, AI directed story without the nuisance of the display of real human emotions.
Waste of time, I wish I have read the reviews beforehand.

Perfect example of how a ridiculous ending can ruin the whole show

Actually, in the beginning, this was a fun show all the way to the last 7-8 episodes. Towards the end, the show became very boring and repetitive, i.e. matchmaking company doing well, successful..then something happens and people boycott and ruin them...this theme keeps repeating over and over, ad nauseam. Enough already. Instead, there should have been a story development in a new direction, for example.....we got that the ML Diety had to return to Haven and FL had to forget him. But then, 3 years later, he just dropped back in with no explanation of how and what happened, not to mention, everybody remembered him? How?
This could have been an opportunity for an interesting development in the storyline, for example: where the FL forgot his love but she kept dreaming about him, and was about to get married to the Second ML (Imperial Inspector) when ML returned just on time as he committed crimes again in Haven to be exiled again, etc more to the continuation of the story. Instead - we got the ridiculous ending of a rude, non caring, argumentative shrew of a wife who only cares about her work? Not to mention the other Diety who suffers domestic violence daily. What kind of ridiculous ending is that to a romantic comedy? Who actually thinks that people watch romantic /fantasy comedies to end up with a washed up, shrew of a wife and constant argumentative ( not to mention domestic violence) kind of relationship? HELLO.. we watch rom coms for a happy, satisfying ending as a sort of escapism for a moment or two.
Did they hire a new, clueless writer to finish the story? What a waste of the whole production!

Something is off with the romance part between the FL and ML lead

I watched this drama as it was said to be the sequel to "The Interpreter" but other than Yang Mi starring, there is absolutely no connection between them. The storyline does use some of the same cliches with Yang Mi' cold, frozen face expressions and being heartless to those loving her. Yang Mi is one of my favorite actresses but I don't think this role was her best performance. I am not sure if anyone else noticed, but it was apparent that throughout the whole series, she has been dodging physical contact, especially kissing with the ML. I have never seen so many forehead kisses, hair patting and hugging in a romantic scene that was supposed to be the lovers' hot/intimate interaction. It was obvious that Yang Mi was barely able to carry on with the romantic scenes, maybe because of the age difference between the FL & ML and she found it awkward to play lovers with a much younger actor. So, the whole "loving couple" vibe was more like a brother and big sister vibe. Thank God for Huang Ze Tao's great acting skills to have saved the romance/romantic parts of the movie.
I really liked the full cast of the very talented young actors:; and the storyline itself wasn't all that bad, except for the plot holes here and there and some things that just simply didn't add up or made any sense i.e. the FL accidentally was forced onto an International flight from China to Hawaii and she didn't know where she was being "taken" to? Seriously? With all the security and check ins at every airport, especially International airports, she just wondered onto the plane??? Or.. how does it make any sense that her friend Shan Shan being pregnant and have fallen so the FL told her to wait for her to fly back from NY to Shanghai. That's a pretty long wait!! How ridiculous. Then she blames herself and the ML for not getting there on time.? Honestly, which script writer had a brain freeze at this point.
And what was with the English dubbing? It sounded very cheap and ridiculous.
Overall, it's a watchable series that provides some entertainment but for me, I will not put this on my rewatch list. Thanks for the Crew for their hard work.

A Thought inspiring story with confusing execution

To be honest, despite of the low ratings, I watched this C Drama because of my favorite actor Liu Xue Yi. He is a very talented and likeable actor not to mention crazy handsome. My other favorite is Yao Chi an upcoming young talent who besides being a natural talent, is drop dead gorgeous. All the other actor were also great and very professional. Music and costumes were also good
Now for the storyline:
1. The concept is great, thought provoking and relevant. I think, most of us had a thought at one point in time about "what if" we made a different choice in life. Hence, this concept is truly relevant in everyday life.
2. However, the execution of the storyline was quite a mess and confusing as scenes were jumping back and forth in time and place and many times it took awhile before one was able to catch up and understand what was going on.
3. For me the whole thing was way too stressful with the constant ongoing arguments toxic relationships, especially the FL's mother in law, very unlikeable character, controlling, selfish, pretty dumb and coarse in general. 80% of the couples' problems were created by this vile woman.
4. Both FL/ML characters were or became unlikeable, ML Spineless, gutless, weak Momma's boy who's priority was totally messed up and his constant empty promises along with constant apologies made his character unappealing. FL completely weak doormat suddenly, (after moving to Shanghai) becomes this harsh, cold career woman who is completely inflexible, unforgiving and selfish. Her character in both timelines are not very likeable and hard to relate to.
5. It's hard to watch how all the surrounding people, friends, family, coworkers' opinions and unsolicited advice can in fact have a negative effect and ruin someone's relationship. Unfortunately, that's pretty close/true to life.
The ending was ok but due to the overall negative, argumentative, stressful melodrama vibe of the series, I would definitely not watch it again.

It's a No Brainer, Literally, you don't need to use your brain to watch this.

The word comes to mind is ridiculous. I was able to finally finish this drama; although, had to fast forward a lot. Continue to watch this reminds me how one can't look away from a train wreck. The story makes no sense at all as throughout the whole show, EVERYBODY, I mean everybody, even two countries are after Fan Xian trying to kill him, even his own father (the Emperor). This could have been easily done when Fan Xian was a child, but ..NO... let's wait until he grows up, let's create stupid, complicated plots to chase him, try to kill him whichever way, whomever by. Also, the ML goes from a simple country bumpkin to a genius poet and a level 9 martial artist in a matter of a year or less so all the powerful people want to willingly give over all powers to him... Seriously? And what's with the Salsa and other modern music in the fight scenes? Unhinged scene Episode 45, martial art fight between the Saintness and ML with modern music and dance, rose petals falling in the background at the Empress' birthday party... Oh and let's not forget Episode 35 big fighting scene with EVERYBODY fighting, enemies, friends, whatever and whomever, just everyone for no reason, what a chaos! And where is the romance or Joy of Life in all of this? Lots of boring Court talk, blah, blah, blah. I give 8 as the acting crew was excellent and I truly loved the music, scenery and costumes. It's kind of like a Chinese Harry Potter movie, entertaining once you turn off your brain. I just have to watch trainwreck NO 2.

It's like watching paint dry or grass grow

I only watched this C drama because of Leo Wu. Handsome, very talented young actor who pretty much carried the whole show., dragging the FL along. Unfortunately, the FL had not much to add to the quality of the story with her very bland, one dimensional acting skills. Her face was pretty much emotionless throughout the story with artificial shyness, hesitancy, behaving like a highschool girl who has never seen a boy in her life, which later turned into her cold shoulder behavior for no reason at all. Unfortunately, she has never gone through any positive character development throughout the story. There is absolutely no reason to believe that the ML has fallen deeply in love on a first glance with a mediocre looking, bland personality, forced shyness type of girl. Why? Totally unrealistic. I don't mind slow burning love stories but this movie wins the cake on no action, no conversations, bland, awkward moments and on top of being the slowest most boring movie I have recently had the missfortune to watch. The 6 point for acting is purely given for Leo Wu. Maybe if he had a different, more compatible FL to work with who had charisma and a captivating personality, it would have been a huge upgrade to the quality of the production. Also, adding some interesting, (or any) intelligent, flirty conversations might have helped the awkward, silences and situations between the ML and FL characters. I will not be watching this show again. Thanks for the effort production team!

Silly, childish, boring

I love Rom Coms, but not this one. Let's see ...a very good looking, savvy, highly disciplined, brilliant CEO suddenly has a brain freeze and offers a ludicrous amount of money to buy a company just so a plain looking, (he just met) secretary would come to work for him. Seriously? Since he supposedly has a memory loss but finds the secretary "familiar" he falls in love with someone he just met and stars pursuing her. The secretary seems to have prior dating history with him but she keeps playing hard to get. So scene after scene, the ML keeps pursuing and pursuing, the FL keeps refusing, playing hard to get, and this goes on and on and on and on...it 's extremely boring. In the maintime, scenes are filled in with 5 extremely annoying, never actually seen working co workers who gossip continuously nonstop and that's all they do. And let's not forget the Intern a very, very annoying young girl aggressively pursuing, stalking chasing a happless young doctor. How many times do we have to keep seeing this character? Nothing interesting or intelligent or even somewhat entertaining storyline here. The whole thing is flat. I also wished that even though it's not a big budget production but they should at least had a professional hair dresser as the FL hair was a terrible mess throughout the whole drama. Her hairdo was out of fashion and made her look unattractive and older
Overall, you will need to dial down on your intelligence and muster up lots of patience if you want to watch this program. 0 rewatch value for me.

Tepid

I was eagerly waiting for this sequel to Flourished Peony which I loved, loved. And now, I am pretty disappointed as instead of any character or love story development, the characters are the same, instead of any romantic development, it's just bad guys causing trouble over and over and episodes after episodes. In fact, the FL lead' s character and appearance has become very, very harsh and unlikable. I just finished episode 12 and can only hope that the remainder of the show will become more interesting and softer/romantic. Please don't disappoint your fans who/whom have eagerly been waiting for this sequel. So far, not really great.

Delightful feel good story, not to be missed

I truly loved this C drama. Fresh, heart warming storyline with beautiful, talented young actors. Fantastic chemistry between ML and FL and they looked really, really good together. I loved the whole friendship and family vibes as well. To see such enduring love is very uplifting and one can only wish to have such love in real life. The whole production is superb. I especially loved the music. Finally a drama that uplifts the spirit and gives warmth to the heart without any negativity or sadness. Many thanks to the whole crew for creating such a wonderful entertainment for us! Bravo!

One of the best Fantasy C Dramas I have seen, truly magical

I absolutely love, love this Fantasy Drama. What a wonderful story and production. It immediately engaged, captivated me within the first two episodes as the "chicken scenes" were hilarious and got me laughing. I read some reviews that said the talking chicken was not believable. Seriously? Just a reminder to those viewers that this is called a Fantasy Drama in which everything is possible, like talking chicken Coi fish as kids, etc. I watched this wonderful production to immerse myself in a beautiful fantasy world with gorgeous scenery, beautiful and talented actors, enduring romance/love, die for costumes/wardrobe and heavenly music. I only wish I could live in such heavenly place in such beautiful nature. What a wonderful unforgettable story and production. I am sure I will be rewatching this story many more times in the future. Many thanks to the hardworking crew/team for creating us such a magical experience. Bravo!

Most ridiculous nonsense ever

Total trainwreck! It appears the script has been written by high schoolers and directed by an amateur would be director. The storyline is ridiculous and complete nonsense. It supposed to be a rom com but instead it became a bad comedy in someone's nightmare. To be honest, the only reason I watched it is because Ryan Ren is one of my very favorite actors; however, unfortunately even he couldn't save this trainwreck. The FL character is a very unlikeable sociopath and compulsive liar who is ( according to the script writer geniuses) always in the right and everything is someone else's fault at all time. Let's not even talk about all the psychopathic criminals/relatives who will never get punished no matter what horrible crimes they commit. This is a perfect message to the wievers, i.e. "commit any crime you want as there will be no consequences or punishment at all" great message geniuses!!!
What a waste of time, monies and talent to throw away on this trainwreck.

Great beginning of 2026 with this wonderful C Drama

This is a wonderful very creative C Drama. The storyline is very entertaining and enjoyable. The casting is superb with all the talented actors leads and supporting. Chen Xing Xu is one of my favorite actors he is not only extremely handsome and talented but he also has a huge screen presence. He is absolutely perfect for his role as Qin Xiao Yi. I also love the very talented Lu Yu Xiao and her character as Hu Xiu. The FL/ML has wonderful chemistry throughout the show. Finally an intelligent show without the usual whiney, baby talking FL that is so typical in many C Dramas. Thank you casting agents for sparing us. Overall it's a fantastic production that definitely deserves the highest mark. Thank you production team for this wonderful series. A must rewatch!
