In the palace, Liu Zi Ye orders the princes to be barbecued alive for his amusement. Sensing trouble, the princes brace themselves. Liu Zi Ye laughs at their fear but spares them temporarily when one pretends to be mad. Meanwhile, Fen Dai alerts Zhu Que to the danger and urges her to intervene. Zhu Que realizes this is a test of the princes' abilities to protect themselves. As expected, one prince's feigned madness saves them from immediate harm.
