Left alone on a trip to Hong Kong, Tomoko, a sales woman from Japan finds herself the victim of a purse-snatching. The police arrest the man she points out, but it turns out to be the wrong person: a young Korean man named Ji Hoon. Despite his anger and humiliation, he takes her out to dinner since she has lost all her money, and in return, she agrees to model for his amateur film. What follows is a magical and romantic two days. Upon returning to their respective countries, Tomoko must return to her nine-to-five job and Ji Hoon must resume studying to join the family business rather than pursuing his dream of becoming a film director. But soon the two begin to email each other and rekindle their relationship despite the distance and obstacles between them. Marking the very first time in television history that a drama has been co-produced between Japan and South Korea, the story shows us that love has no borders.

Almost the same story line, normal girl meets and does something significant for her boss. She asks for nothing in return which causes her to catch the bosses attention and things proceed from there. There are even identical situations in these dramas. Main differences are the best friend and the female lead has a secret she's hiding from the male lead!

Main leads have met before, male lead does something nice/significant but only the female lead remembers/knows.

So I don't give away any spoilers I'll be as vague as possible:

The feuding male characters are similar in both dramas.

Male lead has a hot temper, is controlling and he has a jealousy issue.

There are probably more but I'll leave them alone =)

Female lead is not only the same actress, but the characters are suuuuuuper similar! Cheerful, optimistic, etc etc.

Supporting female is also similar: Rude and obnoxious model/actress who become likable.

The story kicks off with a chance encounter between a man and a woman sparked by their mutual love for chocolate. The catch? Both live with their own anxiety disorders. The man can’t physically touch others, while the woman can’t make eye contact, making their budding relationship both challenging and endearing. Fujiwara Sosuke is the new representative of the popular chocolate shop “Le Sauveur” and the son of a major confectionery magnate. Sosuke's germophobia, stemming from a traumatic past, complicates his new job. Lee Ha Na is a gifted chocolatier who conceals her identity from the Le Sauveur members, except for the owner, and battles her own fears of social interactions. Irene is a renowned psychologist and author who not only serves as Sosuke's primary physician but also becomes a counselor to Ha Na, helping her navigate her challenges. Despite her professional success, Irene faces her own struggles with alcoholism and romantic relationships. Takada Hiroshi is the owner of the bar “Brush,” whom Ha Na secretly harbors feelings for. He has been friends with Sosuke since their school days and has had a close relationship with the original owner of “Le Sauveur”, Ha Na’s mentor.

Both female leads undergo plastic surgery and a major appearance change. Diamond lover is more workplace/adult drama. As where Gangnam beauty is more college drama relating to image and status.

Due to her larger size, Mi Duo has always lacked confidence as her appearance has always caused her to face difficulties in her daily life. She falls in love at first sight when she sees Xiao Liang, a jewelry company president. However, seeing how there is no way they would ever match in appearance, she doesn't engage in a pursuit. A car accident forces her to go under surgery, one of which is cosmetic surgery. After the surgery, she has transformed into an ideal image of herself. Now with more confidence, Mi Duo successfully lands a job at Xiao Liang's company. She goes through success and failure in work, experiencing life very different from what she had been used to. With her friend, Lei Yi Ming, a surgeon, supporting her every step of the way, she begins to realize that appearances are just surface-level qualities and that there are more important things to strive for on the inside.
