Heard It through the Grapevine Episode 6 Reactions
LOL that ending scene was so fckin ridiculous it's actually funny!!when In Sang's parents proposed to secure a good job for Seo Bom's elder sister and give that family some luxuries, in exchange of them agreeing to move into the countryside and laying low instead of making it known to people around them that they are in-laws to the owner/CEO of Hansung, one of Korea's top law firms.
Seo Bom's parents quickly felt insulted by that, and In Sang kindly intercepted and apologized on the behalf of his parents. he said he's sorry and embarrassed by them, which made his father go crazy angry and want to smack him in front of everyone LOL. and then Seo Bom's father stopped him, and the male staffs also joined to break them. the chaos HAHAHA.
i think i have a better understanding now of what makes a black comedy tick, just from that scene LOL. it's about making viewers laugh at situations that can be seen as ridiculous or maybe even grim, even if the persons who are behaving that way do not think that.in this way, In Sang's parents especially the father is so hell-bent on being cultured, high class or sticking to formalities and good protocol and thinking that they are being sensible with what they are offering to the in-law's family (principles of negotiation and give & take). but he lost his mannerisms by wanting to beat up his son in front of everyone LOL!
so here the director is making us think, "are In Sang's parents truly as cultured as they think they are?", AND "are they really being sensible by asking the in-laws to move into a quiet countryside when offering to help the elder daughter to secure a job?"
>>>
this drama will be so interesting because it tries to pick apart the taboos of social classes in a clever way, also tries to elucidate the complexity of marriage in societies or cultures where parents usually intervene in the married couple's lives (in this case the subject used is even more magnified because they are an underage couple who hasn't earned their keep yet, LOL).
p/s i am really liking In Sang here, he's empathic and considerate towards others. and my fave actor plays a grumpy, rebellious high school kid so well i'm so proud of him HAHAHA.
p/ss the fact that this drama has 30 episodes, yasss! a lot of conflicts need to be resolved properly, so i am gonna enjoy the journey as much as i can uwuuu~
