The Promise Episode 24 Reactions
I feel like I'm watching chess. The pawns are being manoeuvred into place. Sooner or later, we're going to hit checkmate but I don't know when or where. The episode starts with Na Yeon turning up outside Se Jin's house, and gaining entry to do their dishes, still relatively unknown. The men turn up, and immediately freak out, thinking Na Yeon is going to tell the women, that she is Tae Joon's former lover and mother of his child. Na Yeon doesn't - but it doesn't prevent Se Jin from finding out. She vows "never to lose out to Na Yeon."
Na Yeon vows to cut ties with Tae Joon, because she sees herself being pathetic (that is very genre-savvy of her - I like genre-savvy characters or moments), and it's a moment of resilience and coming to terms with the past.
However, although Na Yeon plans to walk away without disrupting the future marriage of Tae Joon & Se Jin, or even force Tae Joon to have a relationship with his daughter - you sense it won't be a clean break. Something bad is going to happen to Na Yeon. Se Jin knows the truth. Kang Wan, the misplaced overprotective father of Se Jin, knows the truth.
You sense a proverbial net closing around our heroine, and it's a matter of the audience biting their fingernails and waiting for the other shoe to drop. This drama is my bias <3 If nobody else plans to do a "currently-watching" article on this, then I put my name forward.
