Pulls the heartstrings!
First off... if you are not wanting a tear jerker with almost every episode, don’t watch this show. I am not one to watch them much but for some reason I had to see what this was all about. It was not what I expected but it was a really good show.I marked “rewatch” down some because I would personally not watch it often because it is a sad heartwarming show. I do like that it teaches us that money and power is not everything. Love and family is.❤️
Storyline - well written and well acted.
The father is a jerk! I felt bad for him because, even up to the end, he still could not see past his money! Even after his entire family left him. I really REALLY wanted to beat him to death when he told the FL to take all responsibility for the contract and organ issue! He told her she was going to die anyway so just do it! I really hated him then and realized he was not going to change even in the end!
This story was kind of close to my heart in the fact that she had a brain tumor. Been there, done that, and deal with it everyday of my life. I am thankful mine was operable. So I can relate to the FL. I think she did an awesome job. And I love that the ML stuck by her no matter what anyone said! I also am thankful it was a somewhat happy ending in that they did not show her dying. They left it up to us to imagine how long they were together. It ended just right.
Acting/Cast - I have seen Kim Yong Gun in many dramas. He really pulls off his acting for a mean guy lol. He did a great job making me hate him!😂 The ML and FL did an awesome job in their roles. They had me crying half the time.
Music - was really good. Hope I can find it to listen to.
Rewatch - when I want a tear jerker, then yes! I would watch it again. It is good enough to see at least once. Just make sure you have a box of tissue handy.😉

The underlying message of this drama is that money and fame are meaningless when it comes to attaining happiness, and love is the only salvation for people.

This drama would have felt way better as a 3 hours movie I think, the story was super stretched it felt like only one event happened per episode (1h), with all that stretching the ending was unsatisfying, bad people not punished enough.
I loved the cast and how much feelings they convey with their silent eyes, especially Uee, new fan! The daughter was super cute and smart too.
All in all I think I would have rated this drama 10/10 if the manchild brother didn't exist and they could have wrapped the story in 8 episodes.

Good Storyline
Overall story line good. Started off a bit slow but later episodes were better. Typical rich family drama. I did not like the FL and ML together. Would have been much better if one of them was with a different actor. Felt FL wasn’t cast right for this show. A few episodes were emotional. First time I watched an episode with the ML. I felt he was almost a bit too old for FL. Supporting cast was ok, nothing great. Did not care for the hyung of ML. Too much of a whiner. Give it a try. You may like it!Was this review helpful to you?

I can't re-watch this because of the heavy plot. It makes my heart heavy. But overall, this drama nailed it.

Promising story but failed to live up to the idea
I just finished watching Marriage Contract, and I'm honestly not sure how I feel about it. The emotional rollercoaster this drama takes you on is both compelling and frustrating.Let’s start with the lead male. At first, I absolutely hated him. His actions seemed inhumane, making it hard to root for him. However, as the story unfolded, my feelings shifted. I found myself pitying him for the way he genuinely cared for the lead female. His complexity as a character added depth to the narrative.
Then there’s the lead female. I initially felt sympathy for her; her life was so miserable and desperate. But as the plot progressed, I started to dislike her for being so clueless and stubborn with the male lead, especially when it came to accepting his love and care. It was frustrating to watch her struggle.
By the end of the series, I was left in a state of confusion about my overall feelings. Did I like the drama? I’m still not sure. The characters had their moments of growth, but their flaws made it hard for me to fully embrace the story. If you’re ready for an emotional journey, Marriage Contract is a must-watch—but keep the tissues close!

Underrated drama with excellent story!
This is one of the most beautiful and underrated Korean drama I've ever watched. The acting from all the actors is top-notch, especially the lead actor and actress, who made me cry. Not all dramas have happy endings, but I can surely say this one does, even though some misfortune happens at the end. I love the scriptwriter's amazing work on this incredible story. Overall, it's a must-watch drama if you enjoy stories about life, struggles, happiness, and pain, with a mix of sweetness and sorrow. Was this review helpful to you?
Tear Jerker -- Deeply Moving
Lee Seo-jin is the main reason I watched this drama, and I am glad I did. There is just something about his acting that pulls me in regardless of the story or the character. He delivered a compelling performance as Ji-hoon, successfully transitioning the character from a detached, cold individual to a warm, loving partner. His subtle expressions and gradual shift in demeanor effectively showcased Ji-hoon's emotional growth. His dimples, when his character finally starts smiling, became a beloved aspect of his portrayal and, of course, his undeniable chemistry with Uee and mature romance was refreshing to watch. For me the hardest parts to stomach were Ji-hoon’s interactions with his family and I mean all of them. The father, the cunning stepmother, the weak stepbrother, and even his old lover. She was the most infuriating besides his mom, of course.Despite using some familiar tropes, Marriage Contract manages to be deeply moving and engaging because of its strong character development and exceptional acting. It's a drama focusing on the power of love, family, and resilience in facing harsh realities. It is sincere and earnest in its execution. It doesn't rely on overly dramatic twists but rather on the emotional journey of its characters. The development of the lead couple's relationship feels organic and believable, especially for characters who are a bit older and have past experiences. The standouts for me were Uee and the child actress Shin Rin-ah; their chemistry elevated the show with their compelling portrayals, making the characters feel real and relatable. The same goes for Uee, Lee Seo-jin, and Shin Rin-ah. Their believable family dynamic made the characters' emotional journey resonate deeply with me.
Marriage Contract is a story about finding happiness and meaning in life, even when facing a difficult prognosis, and the importance of cherishing every moment with loved ones. I like that beyond central romance, the drama beautifully explores different forms of family relationships, whether by blood or by bond, highlighting their importance and impact. Marriage Contract will make you laugh, cry, and give you warmth and appreciation for life's precious moments. The phenomenal chemistry between the lead couple and the adorable child actress is an undeniable highlight that makes this drama a memorable watch.

A tear-jerking drama basically about the trafficking of human organs.
After seeing "The Trunk," which revolves around a marriage contract, I recalled that I had previously watched another show titled "Marriage Contract."
In "Marriage Contract," the female lead agrees to sell her liver. I was perplexed because humans only have one liver; how could she sell it without risking her life?
Here is the response from Microsoft Copilot: Yes, it is possible to donate a part of a person's liver. The liver is unique because it can regenerate and grow back to its original size.
In living donor liver transplantation, a portion of a healthy person's liver is removed and transplanted into a recipient. Over time, both the donor's remaining liver and the recipient's new liver segment will grow to normal function levels.
In episode 1, the female lead overhears her boss asking her manager to find a liver donor for his alcoholic mother, offering a substantial amount for the liver.
Aware of her brain tumor and facing pressure from loan sharks regarding her late husband's debts, she agreed to sign a marriage contract to temporarily become a family member, allowing her to donate her liver. This arrangement would also ensure that there are funds available to support her preschool daughter in the event of her passing.
Her motherly love and sacrifices will bring viewers to tears, so be sure to have your tissues ready. The daughter is both adorable and intelligent. She even told her mother that she is a big girl now and that her mother can tell her everything.
The second male lead is so cute when he throws a tantrum in front of his parents.
The remaining episodes focus on the mother's struggles.

I really love the child.. she’s so cute and adorable. I think she’s a very talented child actor, and I couldn’t wait to see what she would do next. Main Female and Male lead did a good job portraying their character. All three of them together are very adorable, I wish they have more of it.
The music is totally forgettable. I wouldn’t really rewatch this drama because the plot is just too basic.
