NOT THE SAME WITH Yesterday Once More

Intrique to watch this because thinking Yesterday Once More (Chinese Movie) is the adaptation of this movie, so I just want to compare these 2. But silly me for not reading the summary. Because if you're reading the summary you'll know these 2 movie nowhere near the same. Don't know why MDL link this 2 together.

But anyhow....

This movie very much like the title: My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday. Story about Minamiyama Takatoshi (MT) who meet Fukuju Emi (FE) on the train & fall in love with her. Build up the courage, he decides to talk to her. No long after that they decided to date & the story rolling with one big secret FE hiding under the blanket.

What will you do if you're FE? If me, maybe I'll try to avoid meet up with MT in my young year (20ish). It's beautiful & meaningful but also one painful memory that I've had to go through.

One really interesting concept of story but really hard to swallow. I have to re-watch it a few time to understand & let it settled in my mind. But it still beautiful in the end. And the vibe is really calm & give positive vibe all over....

Overall If you want to watch something new or fresh, you can try this movie. In the end this is not a movie that I've regret watching.

Watch this movie!!

I'll admit right up front, this movie confused the heck out of me. I'm math-phobic, and time travel and space-time continuum type things relate to math, and you see my dilemma. But that's just me.

The story was beautiful and sad. I need happy endings, and unless I completely missed what was going on, this did not have a happy ending. I spent the time getting to know and love the characters, and once they knew what was going on, I could almost feel their pain in the knowledge they had gleaned. Japan knows how to do beautiful filming that is kind of "slice of life". Everyday places and everyday stories take on new and deeper meanings, and I love that.

Both actors did a wonderful job with their parts. I've only seen either of them in one other work, so I'm going to need to check out their filmography and expand on that.

Music - was there music? I wasn't paying attention to that.

Rewatch value - I'd say definitely, if for no other reason than trying to figure out the timeline.

the romance was so precious here!

What a beautiful way to tell a story about the precious time that passes between people that are in love.

I can totally understand why some would think the time logic is confusing but after exposition from the FL I pretty much got it. The acting was good. Fukushi Sota was so cute as Minamiyamai. His performance from the beginning was endearing. You could feel his love for Fukuju through the screen. Komatsu Nana was good too but I found Fukushi’s acting more enjoyable. At times it seemed like Minamiyamai liked her more than she liked him, perhaps even one sided at times. After the secret was revealed her behavior made more sense.

The ending was so abrupt. I really loved every moment the leads were together and wanted to see more of them but I am happy we got to see their timelines collide again as we know they do have a happy ending.

I def recommend this movie if you’re new to Japanese movies/shows and you're a big fan of romance or destiny-trope stuff. I was quite pleased with this and loved the romance aspect here. Am open to watching this again in the future.

A change of pace from other supernatural romance films

I would say that this was a hard movie to pull off, considering the film deals with changes in time. If not executed properly, the audience would be left baffled, unable to follow the story, and confused as to how the story progresses. However, this movie did a great job with how they explained the whole premise of their time constraint. The change in camera angle to depict whose timeline it is that we're in helps with understanding how we are supposed to view the progression of the story, be it forward in time or backwards.

Their love story, albeit bittersweet, left me wondering whether they are caught in a loop or the time they spent together only lasted within that timeframe. The film didn't have anyone dying. However, the story is comparable to other romantic films that have one of the lead actors dying. In a way, My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday showed how to spend the remaining time you have with your loved one wisely, no questions asked, no holds barred, just making memories and cherishing every single moment.

a love story that's as confusing as it is charming

This movie made me question not just my sense of time, but possibly reality itself! In "My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday," the only thing linear is the train tracks—It'll leave you with heartache, confusion, and the desperate need for a second viewing!

From the get-go, we're thrown into the world of Takatoshi and Emi, two lovebirds whose romance is more tangled than a plate of spaghetti. Love at first sight? Check. Happy days filled with giggles and sunshine? Check. A plot twist that could give Christopher Nolan a run for his money? Double-check!

The movie's atmosphere is as moody as a teenager's diary, with scenes that will have you pondering life's big questions while wondering if you left the stove on. The title alone screams, "Good luck figuring me out!"

Confused? Welcome to the club! Just when you think you've got the hang of the timeline, BAM! Another curveball that'll have you questioning whether you've accidentally stepped into a black hole. The non-linear storytelling is like a puzzle designed by Einstein on a caffeine high.

I spent half the movie wondering if I accidentally changed the channel, a second viewing might just be the golden ticket to unraveling the confusions. It's like a brain teaser wrapped in a romantic bow—just when you think you've cracked it, another layer unfolds.

"My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday" is a wild ride, a romantic movie that requires a seatbelt and maybe a flowchart. Whether you leave scratching your head or shedding a tear,, one thing's for sure—you won't forget this time-traveling tale anytime soon.

I haven't cried this hard since... The Travelling Cat Chronicles with Fukushi Sota. Or maybe Fortuna's Eye with Kamiki Ryunosuke. And just like in the latter, it hits painfully hard when the POV is switched from "his" to "hers" and you see the story enfolding backwards...

I think it's better to watch this movie completely unspoiled, without knowing what's going on. Because that way, it's all the more painful - and all the more beautiful, Takatoshi & Emi's love story.

And what a love story this is! Fukushi Sota & Komatsu Nana make a beautiful couple in this movie, their chemistry is simply awesome. If nothing else then that makes it worth watching.

Truly, when I finished it, I immediately went back and re-watched some of the highlights, now knowing what's going on. And, wow, it was truly all there, the hints. And when you know and you go back and you watch it... it breaks your heart into itty bitty pieces!

"Will I see you again?"

I interested with this film after read the synopsis, and I was like what the heck is romance limited by time. But when I watched I understand how it works, and shows potential to be a good and touching love story.

The power of this film I think was the story (of course), directing, acting & the backsound/soundtrack.

I think I wanna cry while watching this film, for real the emotion was there at every scene. Moreover when I realize/understand the story, it makes my heart breaks a little.

Glad that this film/story take Takatoshi POV so it was more structured, and can build up the emotions smoother. So when in the end it changes the POV to Emi, it was blow up the emotions that have been built from the start.

What makes it really hurt was because this is a romance film so they share a lot of happy moment together and I don't want it to end. And I think Emi side when it come to the last day was more hurt for me, you have been make a lot of happy moment but after that you can't do that again, I will cry like she did after she gets on the train for sure.

And actually I don't understand the ending, can someone try explain it to me?

I am so sad, yet emotionally fulfilled !!!

The sweet and pleasant relationship established between the two leads, helped by two wonderful central performances, is more than enough to get you engrossed in the story at hand, and when push came to shove in some of the more emotional moments, I was genuinely being pushed close to tears, something that I could never have expected after that opening scene, which is why I’m giving Tomorrow I Will Date With Yesterday’s You a 8.5 overall.

The cute thing is that Emi fukuju will cry each time that a good thing will happen. But later on you would finally decide why emi was easily moved to tears, the part which i love. & i loved how the film's title appears forty-one minutes into the movie.

P.S Takatoshi and Emi fit each other so well, it is good to see them being together. Their relationship is adorable. I do agree that the whole idea of different timelines moving is amazing, but I'm not quite sure how to make it when it comes on screen. Nana Komatsu's eyes illuminated by sunlight are enough to make anyone fall in love at first sight.

A love story spanning different worlds

The story begun as everything normal yet unexpectedly perfect but soon the truth is revealed.
The pacing of the story was just perfect. A perfect beginning, a perfect ending. Story-wise, I have no complaint.
Acting was good, Nana Komatsu particularly stood out from the rest.
Classic Japanese Cinematography and direction, totally loved it!
Also the music compositions and direction, absolutely top notch, memorable and crafted around the story!!
Great production quality as well.

If you are looking for a bittersweet romance drama movie with a twist, this is it!! Even if you aren't looking for it, watch this anyway if you have the time!!

A must watch movie

What I really liked about this movie is the plot which integrates an unexpected twist. I was so mind blown with the plot twist. This is my favorite movie along with heavenly forest.

What hooked me the most is their acting.
Acting- their acting is so great that you will really feel their emotions, even only with their eyes alone.

I have watched this movie many times and still is worthy to rewatch. Please spread this great movie...

Ps. I don't really like to watch movies with sad/heartbreaking ending before, but because of this movie, it became my favorite genre as it reminds me that "not all endings are happy, but not happy endings means it's sad, but rather the characters attained satisfaction and don't need to greed for more".

bittersweet slow burn

This has instantly become one of my favorite jmovies. Once I was able to completely grasp the time traveling concept, it became super bittersweet but it was still beautiful. The concept is so creative and well thought out, I think something about it not being a perfect happy ever after is what makes it so perfect. My heart broke after the midway point when Emi revealed to Takotoshi the truth about the future them and how the times are reversed for eachother. honestly a slow burn. Some tears were shed but I honestly knew what I was signing up for, except I didn't know how well thought out and well-executed the plotline was.

Nothing surprising from Nana's top tier acting :) Fukushi Sota was also super suited for the role so the casting was 10/10 for me. (he kind of resembled Kai from exo in the beginning lol) OST was really good as well. Overall, really recommend this movie if you're down to watch something incredibly cinematic and beautiful but sad at midnight haha.
