Cool Hero!!!

I like the premise of webtoon characters coming to life and moving between the real and webtoon worlds, and liked the animation technique used for the webtoon characters and webtoon world.

The opening scene in Ep1 was excellent and immediately established Kang Chul’s character: good-looking, charismatic, intelligent, driven and resourceful. Lee Jong Suk was well cast in the role and does a good job in conveying these traits. I also liked how Kang Chul changes after he learns the truth about himself and evolves from the 2-dimensional webtoon hero to a real flesh and blood person.

In terms of love interest, Oh Yeon Joo (Han Hyo Joo) and Kang Chul look good together. However, if the writer wanted Yeon Joo to be a wide-eyed and helpless maiden, they should've given her a different profession. Although Yeon Joo is not an accomplished surgeon in the story, her tendency to put her hands to her face while mouthing nonsense at the first sign of a problem are not traits associated with being a doctor, let alone a cardio-thoracic surgeon. I found this really annoying but I would’ve forgiven her if she had been given a different profession.

I also found the character Park Soo Bong (Lee Si Eon) really annoying, he panicked even more than Yeon Joo and all the screeching and wailing is very unattractive in a man in his thirties. Since Yeon Joo and Soo Bong shared so many scenes, it would’ve been more interesting for viewers if the two of them had different character traits; and I would’ve liked to have seen more of Soon Bong’s colleagues, Sun Mi (Ryu Hye Rin) and Yoon Hee (Yang Hye Ji).

Overall, the plot was good and the action well-paced although I got a bit confused with all the coming and going between the two worlds and the twists in Eps15&16. Nothing the rewind button couldn’t fix. The music was fair and not too heavy handed, although the romance theme reminded me of a something from Coldplay.

This was a fun show with great visual effects, writing, and acting. And the chemistry between the main leads was great (Although I've never seen the male lead have bad chemistry with anyone). But as much as I liked the show, it could be very confusing at times and it felt like it was a lot longer than 16 episodes.

While I dont want to rewatch this one, I vividly remember loving a lot of things about it, and think it was one of the best shows to come out the year it was released. Maybe if I could have wrapped my head around the multiverse idea, I would have enjoyed it even more.

I may have started watching it due to Jong Suk. He was always actor I adored and he's in most of the dramas I like. But really the drama sucked me in, and I forgot that he was the only reason I watched it. The drama was great as well as always keeping me on the edge of my seat.

OST-
It wasn't much, I guess I got too into goblin and dots ost that all other fall short. But it has some gems.

ACTING-
It's not that I adore Jong Suk, but he was awesome! His crying, confusion, realization, happiness and cockiness were great. Main actress was great too, but in my opinion falls a bit short in comparison to Jong Suk.

PLOT-
I liked the plot, the whole comic/real life crossover. It's original, and cool how story is alive. I like also how Male lead is smart enough to have realized that by now something was fishy with his world. It made me sad how either he was to be erased or his world, and also how main character replaced the main girl in the comic. The romance was nor slow nor fast. The romantic moments had me curl up in a ball everytime! Although I was a bit overwhelmed at times, I liked it very much!

Could be better

Well for one, the plot overall intrigued me. It was a good plot but lot of the times i got bored watching it. It would build up tension and action and then all of it would flop down and then you're sat there watching corny romance between the characters thats not even that interesting. I think the actresses acting was a little bit annoying but everything overall was okay. Its not one of the best kdramas I watched but its watchable. Maybe if you're multitasking and you let this play in the background it would be good.

It was great drama till ep 13
It began to be very annoying with repetitive events

It raised my temper because
Too much flashbacks and
The ML was shot too much and get killed too much
And the villain characters didn't want to die and the story was a whole mess

The events were irrelevant and Dishevelled
And after all that repetitive events they dropped many things at the end

Why the ML after being prisoned didn't go to the FL at the end while he can travel between 2 W
Just to tell her he was safe
And what happened to his money

And why he got prisoned from the beginning while he did nothing
Why didn't the writer fix that and make Han chul the killer

And they didn't tell what he is going to do in the real world and what happened to the webtoon world
Where he is going to live and work and bring money

And why at the novel he was killed and the villain guy lived
And what was that stupid sentence at the end
(We don't know what's going to happen between both leads ) -_^ REALLY!!

Although Jong suk was a brilliant actor
But he didn't choose his drama well
Till now what I watched for him wasn't good enough

BUT in spite of that I found this one cute and very interesting at the beginning and worth watching

READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

NOTE: There is really only 1 small hint of the story that I could find in this review

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I've watched many dramas over the years and this one is one of my favorites. I cried and fangirled over this multiple times and finished it in two days. In the beginning, the plot and the changing between the 2 worlds were a bit confusing and at times just didn't make sense, but i assure you it will make more sense as time goes on. There are 16 episodes but each one is about an hour so its a bit long, but if you are willing to stick around im sure you will enjoy it! I would definitely recommend this drama to friends and had a satisfied feeling at the end. Not like when it leaves off at a cliffhanger or you still want more. Its the perfect length and has an amazing ending! I could not get enough of this drama! The choices the characters make a bit strange (Like if someone were to jump off a cliff in front of you and you just stood there saying "wow" { Take note that this did not happen in the story}), but that could just be how it is written. There also tends to be a lot of the same problems (Like if a villain somehow kept coming back to life). F.F (Fast forwarding) was also a big thing for me because i got a bit bored at some points too!

Please do not come at me if you disagree, this is just my opinon.

Sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes.

XOXO,

Unbiaseduser

I JUST WANNA WATCH ONE LEE JONG SUK DRAMA WHERE I DON'T SHED AT LEAST ONE TEAR. PLEASE.

The title. Literally. While You Were Sleeping did it to me. Now W did it. Although there were tears of sadness, there were also tears of happiness. This drama reminded me also that I can't remember the last time I shed a tear of happiness. In the last episode when the FL wakes up in the hospital bed with the ML behind her... when she touches his face... the happy tears flowed. Both tears of sadness and happiness flowed.

I don't know why a stand-out moment that I remember from this drama is the fact that when the ML was injured after killing his father-figure and was driving away—the FL switched into the driver's seat because the dude was literally bleeding out, and when she moved to take him out of the driver's seat, she cradled his head, The head cradle killed me.

This show has a unique and addictive plot, with amazing cinematography and special effects.
I can't give a 10 though, for 2 reasons:

1. The first show, for me, with Lee Jong Suk. At the beginning, I simply thought that I didn't like his acting choices most of the times. However, I saw him in other shows after this one and he grew up on me a lot, as an actor, therefore I guess that the problem lies in the way he's been directed in certain scenes. The same goes for Han Hyo Joo.

2. While absolutely captivating in the beginning, the plot gets quite convoluted towards the final episodes, and not always organically. It's like writers felt the need to make it pointlessly complicated.

Even so, I recommend it because it's something really uncommon to watch.

Don’t expect romantic romance here

Took me a while to find the time and initiative to watch this series. I had it saved to watch because of Lee Jong Suk. I am more of a historical period fanatic and to watch other genre, I would have to have a good catalyst (e.g. favorite actress, cute actor, etc).

So….on we go.
The plot is interesting enough for me so I invested time to watch it. Jong Suk didn’t disappoint with his charming and beautiful face. He can act too so it’s a plus.

Romance there was an attempt for it but seemed like the Director drastically failed to satisfy the audience. It could have evolved better that could have given this series a great push up.

I just loved the story the drama told. Most of the episodes left you on a cliff-hanger. After each episode I felt like I just had to see the next one. I thought the couple was so cute. Some parts were annoying in the drama, but overall I loved watching it. About the music I don't know while I was watching I wasn't paying attention to the music.

I was extremely excited to see this drama because the story itself caught my attention for being so creative. Who wouldn't want to go from their regular normal life and instead jump into the world of their favorite comic book, web toon or drama. Where do I sign up? Of course, if Lee Jong Suk is one of the MCs even better.

First, I'd like to say their animation/webtoon team did an incredible job. As you watch the show you will really fall in love with the flawless drawings. During the special of this drama, you'll get to see how challenging it was to draw and film the transitions between both worlds. Though there were several themes to keep viewers interested. I wish there had been more character development. I don't think the support roles really had a purpose. At times, I feel they were all on standby or just chess pieces when a hole needed to be plugged in the narrative.

I do appreciate that the sparks between Kang Cheoul and Yeon Joo begun right of the first few episodes. It is so common in dramas to have viewers anxiously wait for the main leads to either kiss or just simply hold hands. This was a sweet romance that offered a break from the chaos and more tensed/life threatening scenes.

There were some parts that I personally found unnecessary. For instance, why is the father all of a sudden under the villain/murderer's control? I understand the villain took his face but do not comprehend the reason the father is just doing everything he is told. Afterwards, when Yeon Joo's father ends up in the manga world. He is once again not himself and turns into a murderer instead. Isn't there already enough villains in the drama? Also, towards the last few episodes they bring Kang Cheoul's bodyguard and friend back. But, at one point I asked myself. How long is he going to be in the car for before he reaches a destination where he can help out? He went from a state of being drugged and needing urgent care to driving aimlessly in a car and picking up phone calls. While his friend was dying and Oh Sung Moo is off murdering someone again on the tablet. These are just minor scenes so it doesn't impact the overall plot really. But, at one point I just wanted Kang Cheoul to stop dying. Again, I think the thought behind the plot was creative. But, I felt some parts did not have substance or were dragged on for too long.

Regardless, I am glad I watched this drama and do recommend you give it a try!
