What's Up? Episode 20 Reactions
This drama is hard to explain. In one word, I would describe it as realistic. Realistic in the sense that the characters felt relatable. I watched this at a time when I was sad, lost, and confused. This show was the perfect medicine. It made me more aware and a lot more hopeful that I was before.
The show's biggest strength was its characters. All of the characters were wonderfully developed, even some of the less important supporting characters. The actors were well chosen, they 're acting was phenomenal. While watching I was able to truly believe the pain and struggles the characters faced. There were several characters I wasn't fond of in the beginning, but somehow by the end, they won me over.
The story was written well. I enjoyed the friendship aspect of this show the most. The freshman class, while still being divided into different friend groups, supported and stood by each other throughout the show. It felt like they were a just a large group of friends connected by their shared interests. The student-mentor relationship demonstrated was also a highlight. The character relationships were heartwarming.
The music was great. Before I watched this, I wasn't exactly a fan of musicals, but after watching this, I've gained a new appreciation for them. The music was different from regular k-pop. Old hits, many from musicals, were utilized efficiently. To those that do like regular k-pop, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this drama. I've seen a lot of people compare this to other youth musical dramas, such as Dream High or Monster. if I could give one piece of advice, it would be that they aren't comparable. They are just too different.
This isn't a perfect show, but it was pretty good and definitely underrated.
To those who want to watch a multi-layered drama that combines depth, human relations, humor, romance, and friendship , this is it.
