Season: 1

Worried that their daughter might be suffering, Chen Jia Yu’s parents go to Beijing without telling her, planning to observe her in secret. They realize she has changed completely from the materialistic woman of old into a proper Beijing girl. They are even more upset to learn that Zhen Hao is jobless and doing food deliveries at Xingyuanzhai. Jia Yu’s mother urges Zhen Hao to find a job quickly, but to her chagrin, Zhen Hao and Jia Yu are optimistic and unconcerned. Originally intending to stay at a hotel, Jia Yu’s mother decides to stay in the Zhen family home. Left with no choice, Liu Hui Rong lets them stay in her room while she bunks in with Zhen Xin. Jia Yu has adapted well to life in Beijing. She takes her parents grocery shopping at the market and even shows them the public lavatory in the alley. Jia Yu’s mother is unaccustomed, unable to accept the environment, and does not get along with Hui Rong. They end up quarreling frequently, and Jia Yu’s parents move to a hotel after all. Meanwhile, Zhen Xin shows off the Cartier bracelet Liang Song gave her. Hui Rong thinks Liang Song is untrustworthy, but Zhen Xin doesn’t listen. Hui Rong overhears Jia Yu’s mother voicing displeasure at the Zhen family. She thinks a huge quarrel will inevitably happen sooner or later, so she decides to have a good talk with the Chens once and for all. (Source: Viu)
