Beautiful and touching story
I really like this drama very much. The love story of the main lead couple are special. True love, unselfish love, sacrifices, confident and trust of the main lead couple. I like the siblings love as well. Even they are cold towards each other because of power struggle but they care for their siblings too.All the actors and actresses acted very well especially Sun Yi and Han Dong Jun. I really like their chemistry in the drama. So natural and real. To watch this drama, you cannot skip any episode or else you will be lost. If this drama has a happy ending I believe it will be a heat.

The way story was started it was not end that way . Very nicely each episode executed . Love ,hatered ,jeolousy, misunderstanding everything was in the drama but after 40 episodes the way the story went, it brought lots of sad moments which was keep on going till the end ,not a single love story had a happy ending .When elder sister's in law brother died that make me sad then 2nd brother character suddenly become evil ,then elder brother and his wife got divorced then 2nd sister in law died then all heartbreaking story ...And ending parts was too much can't handle this much sad endings and the way it ends I didn't understand the last scene. Totally messed up story ....Till 35 episodes I like the drama then slowly slowly I loose interest with the drama .A big disappointment but if it was based on true story then story accepted but it was just a fiction so it would have some happy moment because as a viewer we were so much connected with the character and story that which make us thinking about the character though the drama was over ..About acting mr.Linkai was the best and rest did a great job. Loving might be a losing game but true love can win over anyone.
I didn't expect much when I started watching this drama but it was so my type. Leads acting was amazing and story made sense. The plot was so interesting. I was exhilarated while watching this drama. The chemistry between lead couple was so good and it looked like they don't love each other nbut the tension between them said a lot more than words could. I rewatched this drama two times. I wouldn't have written this review if the rating of this drama was high. To me it is one of the most underrated dramas. It indeed deserves more views. Those who like dramas with hate to love genre must watch it. It was a perfect romance drama but I skipped scenes related tofamily and military affairs. I wish these leads to work together in future.
It is worth watching if you like such genre.

My take will be a bit different.
I've got an issue when they try to play the lead heroes as the good guy as if their actions are justified. The second brother was the main villain to me because he's the reasons for a lot of drama over his imagined slights and should have had to pay the price for his stupid and selfish actions. But the ML was selfish and would rather risk the lives of thousands just to spare someone who wouldn't spare him. To spare someone who caused so much death. The moment he sided with his brother was the moment everyone became a villain to me. And it's like NO one really told the second brother off like he needed to be. Instead they let him continue to act like he was the one who was done wrong.
I didn't have anyone to root for towards the end because of the self sacrificing that was going on all to placate some spoiled brat.
I also don't like when characters do stupid stuff just to extend the story like not kill Mr. Fu when he had the chance.
This went on far too long. This story could have been told in 24 episodes or less.
Starting us in the middle of a 2 year marriage and not really showing us too much as to why there was so much distance and coldness between the leads. It should have started from beginning to end. The premise makes it seem like he forced her to break up with her childhood lover and did everything in his power to marry him. But that isn't what happened.
He played a part in her families Denise, but that wasn't him plotting to get her. It just so happened he fell in love at first sight and didn't realize the connection until it was too late. Even still her mom pushed her into that marriage and she was willing to do it anyway to honor her mom. So, since that was her decision, why the cold shoulder then?
But then you have the ML trying to hide his true nature at the expense of his reputation. And instead of cluing her in, he keeps her locked out of his plans as if she's too delicate or stupid to handle it. And as the series progresses she just gets used to that's just how he does things.
The ending was the most satisfying moment.

First, I don't know if they were trying to be creative but setting the start of the drama 2 years in the future and not at the chronology time is not only incredibly confusing but you have 0 connection to the characters because there was no build-up to the characters. You are not given a chance to invest in the characters so you end of just not caring or getting annoyed at the characters because you don't know or understand their motivations or backstory. Just throwing the viewers into the middle of some battle and expecting people to understand the character's personalities and dialogue as if it were in the middle of the drama was a huge mistake. I get that this type of storytelling technique can be unique and add to the drama IF done RIGHT (ex: the drama Signal), BUT they UTTERLY FAIL here.
Second, if Episode 1 is supposed to act as a pilot then they failed because it was the most mundane and boring episode where nothing happened. If I had never seen their trailers then I would not have continued to watch this. Even at Episode 5, the storytelling is all over the place, you are still not involved with the characters - they're all just getting annoying more than anything else - and you don't even know or care what they're fighting about.
Third, why are the dialogues SO boring. I just don't get it. They spend so much of the dialogue on formalities (ex: "mr. x has died. It's a shame he has died. He will be greatly honored that you will remember him. We will all remember him. He has fought by your side so long. Mr. y so have you. Oh no, please I cannot compare to mr. x. Yes, mr. x was a good man. etc. etc. etc. for 5 minutes!). Every Chinese (especially historical) dramas are so filled with these formal speaking that it's just hard to wade through it all to get to the crux. What's the point? Can we have a few witty conversations?? They need to take a page out of the Korean historical dramas. They used to be boring as sin too. Then they realized hey let's just make the dialogue more modern and witty and dispense with the formalities. The result? Shorter episodes, wittier dialogue, faster story progression. China, c'mon. You have great ideas! Let's execute on them better!
I've always been such a fan of Chinese dramas. Always waiting for the comeback of their Golden Years. But now I realize that Chinese dramas have SO far to go still. The best thing about this drama is the trailers and MVs on YouTube. Basically, it works best as a 3 minute musical montage than a full blown 50 episode drama. I'm so disappointed at this drama. Don't bother watching. Not worth the time or energy.
