News of the emperor's ill health facilitates Yan Xun's plans to attack Wei capital. A'Chu is concerned that war will kill innocent people and create instability. Yuan Chun positions herself closer to the emperor by way of the orphaned young prince. She tries to hasten her father's death because his evil schemes have wreaked havoc and killed many innocent people. Yuan Che misunderstands her intent and saves the emperor who locks her up at Ganfu Temple and allows Yuan Che to play a greater role in government affairs. Tensions rise at Yan Xun's military camp.
