Oddly Old generation Taiga drama but made in 2003

This Taiga drama feels like it's been shot in the late '80s or early '90s -- or maybe the director and producers are old generation. The music always have gloomy, somber tones. The opening theme sounds like a funeral march and visuals shows like someone died.Maybe the overall tone of Musashi Taiga Drama just expresses the historical character's personality, mentality, and way of life.
