Good Bye, My Princess (2019)

Although they aren't similar by the plot, the angst genre connects them. There was so many misunderstandings in both of the dramas, that makes you wanna kill one or another main character ... The humor was good. Sarcastic jokes too.

Massacre of one of the lead's family. Angsty love story. Enemies to lovers tropes. Memory lost. Sad ending.

These two stories have love, pain, betrayal, sadness and once you start the dramas you will travel with them, the sufferings of the characters.

Both are chinese historical dramas with enemies to lovers trope.
MLs are red flags types.
Also have some political aspects in both.

Romantic tragedies where the beginning shows you how it’s going to end. You’re rooting for fate to be changed, for these characters to be happy, but you know the pain is coming. Both are well balanced, so it is not all sad all the time.

The story of the two dramas relates to the romantic love story of a Crown Prince in similar dynasty. It also relates to revenge and conspiracy.

It's not everyday that you'll find a drama where a princess in distress juggles between two very toxic, obnoxious men- and ends up with NEITHER!

I got total deja-vu when watching Goong and I was shocked to see no one had made a comparison yet.

- both start out with arranged marriages between two young people
- both dramas have bright & happy fl at the start, paired with possessive and smug male lead.
- FL loses herself as time passes trapped inside the palace, in both dramas at one point it’s due to the ML that they’re trapped
- 2nd male lead in both dramas is persistent and constantly trying to get the fl to run away from the palace and her responsibilities, which gets her in trouble
- both have interesting palace and political drama
- goong is obviously lighter than GBMP but i noticed some parts felt a similar level of high angst and frustration while watching like how the ML has a side girlfriend for the majority of the drama, which then makes the FL untrustworthy when he eventually confesses his feelings later on in both dramas. But also in both he secretly ends up loving the female lead more than the side girlfriend (toxic ik lmao) but FL has no clue
- male lead blames FL a lot especially at the start
- in both FL hates ML for a lot of reasons towards the end
- lack of communication, misunderstandings constantly in both dramas
