This drama is somehow quite good but confusing

I started to watch it exclusively because if Zhang Bin Bin abd really love how he look in this drama alot but I don't like his character being a I'll date pursuer abd miserable puppet sort of characteristics character it annoys me a bit but I don't care that much solely about him there is also another 1 character guy I really pleasantly enjoy it's Yu Zi Han and I'm glad he is actually a 1 of the main trio guys for this drama and "for FL" but I don't care if he's for her or not I enjoy his sickly acting because I enjoy watching unfortunate fate brought male characters and I don't like to watch normal but immoral characters like Zhan Feng and female lead Dilraba is just standard cute caring woman ok Yin Xue is also fairly sTisfiying to watch in this drama regardless of idmf I ever cared to watch his dramas but in this he's awesomely angsty and pitiful that I have a lot of fun watching this drama!

Dilraba Dilmurat shines in this show

This show made me cry a few times... I loved Dilraba Dilmurat and what she did with her character. I loved Ruge's sweet nature. The use of color schemes for each character made it visually quite beautiful. I really loved Zhan Feng and Yin Xue and I'd have been 100% okay if she had ended up with either of them.

Complaints: villain scenes were extremely boring. I could tell how the scene was going to go just by the first few lines of the dialogue. I skipped or fast forwarded most of the sideplots because they were quite boring. The script writing was really quite weak in places. It also suffered pacing issues - a lot of the sideplots could be cut without affecting the main storyline much, and it's quite slow at certain points.

Yin Xue suffers from the usual issue that lovers in a romance genre face - not much of a story or personality beyond their devotion to the main character.

The last arc in the villain's palace was kinda eh. I'm shallow but that place was ugly.

The good: Vin Zhang was fantastic as Zhan Feng. He pulled off broody, angsty, troubled antihero really well. Ruge was so sweet... I love her so much... her growth was really fantastic. I felt for her, and it was really painful watching her go through a lot of suffering and loss. Her grief every time she lost someone really killed me. I also appreciate how the show doesn't hesitate to kill off beloved side characters. Also, the ending song is fantastic.

Deserves a higher MDL rating

I debated whether to even start this one because of all the strongly negative reviews, but I ended up happily surprised that the show was much better than its MDL rating implies. If you haven't watched many Cdramas and are comparing it to the top tier dramas, then yeah, it's not going to be anyone's top ten of all time. But if you've watched a number of Cdramas and enjoy the jianghu adventure genre--with good pacing, an interesting and continuously unfolding plot, and decent acting--then I can tell you this one is good. The villains can be OTT, and the chemistry between the leads is a bit lacking, but as a story it pulls you along and keeps you invested in the characters' fates. The TMOPB actors were all very good (BinBin was gorgeously pouty and Wayne Liu's character was fantastic), and the ending was good.

Spoiler Alert

So, I have mix feeling for this show. Anyway, anyone notice how the character only shared ‘kisses’ on the early episode but then they start using camera trick?

By the way, I wanted to explain my understanding on this series. I saw some people ranting on the actors and the characters but I starts doubting at first but then when I watch it, I fully understand the issue but if you skipped the series, you might not found the explanation.

My favorite is the side couple, our 3rd Miss and our Tribe Jr Sir. Some people said they don’t understand how they fall in love, but being they spent their days together while in Flaming Hills and their journey together, why not? Why she accept him even after he kills her two brothers? She did not agree with her brothers actions and she was treated as an object too eventhough they love her so much, but being them dead really help the Swords Hills to shine.

Although you’ll fill the unjustice to side characters that did do bad deeds and then turn good, I would say, Bi’er deserve Sir Ji. It’s sad there’s no love ending for Zhan Feng and Prince Yu (I’m rooting him with his bodyguard) but they waver and they hurt our FL, so yeah duh.

Our ML and FL love, people said he was forcing himself on her but fmo, he kept claiming her since he was protecting her. She was the incarnation of his old flame, thus he went to that length. They did explain it somehow towards the end.

Although he kept sacrificing himself for her, it is understandable that she once died for him, thus he will do anything to protect him during this life of her.

It is sad that Zhan Feng didn’t get her but his misunderstanding that brought her to ML.

I love the music in this drama. And I heard that Dilireba sang the ending song? Tho I’m not crazy on their same Zither song.

Acting, they all delivered. Even I love the Evil Lead because he is actually quite cute. The climax build up by episode 34 and the plot build up nicely. Tho sometimes you feels like there are things that can be change or cut but well, don’t skip the Lead plots.

I saw Dilraba Dilmurat in another Drama escaping me right now and just fell in love with this little darling. She is so cute in her acting style I am really a fan.

I did not expect to fall in love with Vic Chou and Yin Xue's love for Lie Ru Ge. His ability to love her and let her come to her own decisions was great. I don't know many people with that much patience to let the other grow. That being said it was very painful to see all he goes through waiting for her to remember him.

I really enjoyed the relationship of Lei Jing Hong and Dao Lie Xiang. That made the waiting of the Xue and Ru Ge almost barable.

I was disappointed in the ending. I think it was very selfless and I get that but being American I just am maybe to selfish and wanted to see a happy ending for the two.

The costumes were good. The sets were believable as well.

I was heart broken for Yu Zi Han and Zang Feng but glad with the mutual respect that they were left with in the end.

Overall, this drama is not all bad. There are holes in the story and poor costume design; Don't get me started on Dilraba's different shades of red costume. It's like one of the worst costume design for a period or costume drama. And her earrings, what is that? It's not even aesthetic! It's just so bad. It's one of the worst part of the drama in my opinion.

Now, the drama itself is not that bad. Like all period drama, it started out good and I was waiting for that episode for Zhang Bin Bin to appear. He's not the main male lead in this drama, but the main reason I watch this drama. After that, the middle part gets draggy and long. It started to pick up again the last 15 episodes or so. There are many side characters, and I do enjoy their character development, especially Lei Jing Hong and Dao Lie Xiang. The ending is a bit confusing to me, and I read several comments how people get the ending after watching several times. So not for me! I get confused and this is the first and last time I watch this drama. I couldn't go through and waste another 52 episodes trying to understand the ending. So, it's not a rewatch for me, ever.

The OST on the other hand is great. I could listen to it over and over again. I like the opening song and two other songs that's playing several times throughout the drama.

Interesting storyline

I think this drama overall is pretty good. It's well acted and the story moves along but the love interests don't and this bothers me. I hate seeing Feng spinning out if control which makes no sense as he becomes undefined, and that creepy woman hanging onto him is so icky. Lol. But I love BinBin so I hope for a good ending. I m not crazy about Xie as he keeps acting desparate, lies to Ge'er and does really dumb things to push the relationship. I identify w his behavior as only being selfish in what he wants. All 3 men in Ge 'ers life are jaded. Even the Prince eventually. But at least he tries. I'm trying to hold interest to finish the series at around ep35 and hope that if Ge 'er doesn't love any of them she will just get Flame back for herself... will see. I think she could bring Feng back to reality and be a better match though as he just needs to find his true purpose. Eh maybe they will kill him off too. Who knows. Lol. I did like the elders in this series. What a fine cast of older men playing fathers and heads of state etc. Very fine casting there. When you watch this many episodes in you become part of the 'family' and begin to hope for good outcomes so I hope the bad guy gets his due in the end. Lol. He is a creepy looking one. Anyway overall it's a pretty good drama, I would recommend it if you can stand BinBin in a 'bad guy' role. I m not liking that though. Ge'er is very good and I think she is well worth watching and enjoying in this drama.

No need to waste your time by watching this drama

No it's not because of the actors, or actresses of this drama that make the show bad. It gets bad because of the storyline, and the characters are so nonsensical. The male lead is described as someone who has no respect for women. The male lead is from a spiritual sect but he sets up a number of brothels. He even forced his feelings on the woman he liked just because she was very similar to the person he loved in the past. And what's even weirder is the female lead willingly accepts the main character's attitude who is mean to her. What irritated me even more was that the second male lead, and the third ultimately gave up the female lead to the misbehaving male lead (especially to women)
The only thing that touched my heart was the affection of the third male lead (Yu Yihan) for the female lead (Ru Ge). Yu Zihan was unable to hear, and walked since childhood. Ru Ge, who is his younger brother, is the source of Yu Yihan's joy. Their relationship was very close since they were children. Even the first words that Yu Yihan heard were Ru Ge's words. And the first thing Yu Yihan said was Ru Ge's name. Even when Ru Ge was reading a book, she only wanted Yu Yihan to read it to her. Yu Zihan is heartbroken when he can't do anything to save his loved one (Ru Ge) from death. Therefore, Yu Yihan had the desire to acquire the ability to hear, and walk so that he could protect those he loved from then on. Even Yu Yihan was willing to lose his hearing, his walking ability, and his ability to see one of the reasons to protect Ru Ge. The female lead might marry the third male lead if the male lead was not present. If you don't like stories about unrequited love, then don't watch this drama. Or you will be heartbroken like me.

Major disappointment

I initially watched this for a couple of supporting actors. Very happy to see them, I wasn't disappointed. HOWEVER, I ended up skipping through a huge portion of it simply because I couldn't stand the ML. Don't know if it's the character (bland and boring) or the actor (haven't seen him in anything else and really don't want to), but I couldn't get any feeling for the lead couple. I've never had such antipathy towards a couple, and I've seen dozens of them. It's worth seeing some storylines again, but not often.

Most beautiful OST

When I first watched this I only knew Vic Chou as someone from F4 fame. His initial appearance didn’t impress me; as he seemed a bit round in the face and his character Yin Xue is a bit strange and Yin Xue’s story didn’t seem to join properly with the plot’s timeline.

But wait… be patient and by the end of the drama I cried for Yin Xue (not because he died, don’t worry this is a happy ending drama) I kept rewatching the last episode to see his expression. This guy either knows he is very charming or he is quite playful by nature. So cute!

Story-wise at first it seemed like a typical jianghu drama with endless fighting to be the leader but the real story is a multi-layered story across lifetimes. Brotherhood, Insecurities. Ignorance, Selflessness, Obsession…all played out beautifully in the name of love.

Lastly the OST is so beautiful that I am so glad I know enough Chinese to read the lyrics and sing them everyday whilst driving my car 😊

I waited till the drama was completed to watch it and didn't really expected the drama to be super good ( decided to watch it because the casts were really similar to SanShengSanShi's casts) but DAMN I was wrong this drama is definitely worth watching!!! It's a super great drama. The love YinXue has for RuGe is so genuine that it touched my heart <3 Though the last few eps really confused me (thought that the entire movie was YinXue's dream HAHAHA), i rewatched the eps once more and I realised that I was hella wrong oops. But I felt like the ending could've been better. Anyways, if you're looking for a drama that will make u tear up a lot YOU GOTTA WATCH THIS. These are just my thoughts about the drama hope it helps people that are hesitating on whether to watch this drama :)

I did not have any high hopes before watching this drama due to all the reviews I read. But since I did not have anything else to do and, after just watching Eternal Love with Dilmurat and Binbin, I wanted to give it a try. I did not have any great expectations though.
And I was right.
This drama had a great potential, the characters and actors were not too bad either. I really do think that the script was written clumsily. If the main line of the drama is great, the rest is boring. I spent my time skipping moments and moments and I usually never do that !
If the dramawas lasted 25 or 30 episodes, it would be much better.

Ruge was not too bad, she was touching, loyal and sometimes clever. Dilmurat did not disapoint me. However, I wished she gained more strength at the end of the show. I felt like during several episodes, some small details were showing her power growing, I was waiting impatiently a real revelation that never happened.

Binbin, as always, has this tragic role. He may have this very handsome face but it kinda tire me. I did not personnaly like his character. I think he could have make him more charismatic.

Xin Yue was a big disappointment as well. Not because of the character himself that I found rather funny. I just, for some unknown reasons, could not stand the actor's face ? I did not..... find him as handsome as how he is considered in the show.

The "mean" character was weird...... I cannot figure out why they did hire an actor with such special face and expressions. But I kinda got used to. He wasn't the best.

I like the Third Sect leader though. Suprisingly. And Lei JingHong.

Anyway, I watched it. Do no regret it but if I go back in time, I don't know if I would still make myself watch it.

#HappyEnding. #ButWeirdAsWell
