Water, love, mystery, suspense, water, secrets, more water!

This was my first Chinese drama ever, despite everything it has a special place in my heart, it was like my first vicious, every episode I felt it amazing.

The mystery about the past of Tang Yi Bai is really good written, it makes a good plot, not forced. And once you watch an episode you want to watch more and more. Also I really loved every character and their friendship. My favorite character was Tang Yi Bai, super gentleman, sweet, so loyal and innocent, and of course Qi Rui Feng, always relax and charismatic, I liked his brother-ship with Yi Bai.

Now, the romance...

Tang Yi Bai and Yun Duo are a refreshing couple, some times it seems to be unnecessary slow their romance, however is perfect. I think it would be better to see more of Yun Duo being more romantic, because even when they were already a couple she seems cold towards Yi Bai, but it’s okay, the situation changes in the next chapters. In the other hand, I loved the obstacles settled by the siblings Lin. Of course, I hated both of their characters, but is incredible the essence it adds to the main couple

Really sweet - love the leads together ♥️

This was in my watchlist because I'm a big Tan Song Yun fan. This was so much fun and awfully sweet! I've not seen Xiong Zi Qi in anything before but they make such a cute couple, the way his face lights up when he sees her is totally adorable. The cast of supporting characters add a lot of humorous moments and some tension at times, we also have a second ship!

One of my favourite moments was realising that the leads have a duet on the soundtrack. I knew it was TSY as I recognise her lovely singing voice but I had a good feeling that Xiong Zi Qi was also singing - I love it when they do this in dramas, all the feels!

I love shows about swimming so it wasn’t any surprise when I loved this show. There was lots of drama in this story to keep me entering the whole time. I feel happy , mad and sad in a good way. I was never bored not even for a second. I thought the romance of the story was really good. Each couple had great chemistry together. The character development was good too. The acting was great. The actresses and actors did a great job. They were all beautiful people. The hair, make and outfits were every nice. I loved seeing all the practice and swimming competitions that they had. The script was well written. It really showed the the director tried his best and out his heart, passions, time and care into this story. I would recommend this show to anyone who loves sport dramas, romance and swimming.

wort it to watch !!!

I first saw Dylan's drama here and fell in love at first sight.
This drama tells the story of a swimming athlete who is suspended from a race for four years because of a problem. He came back four years later and entered a race with his best friend who had waited four years to return to the highest podium together.
But the problem of getting back to the race is not easy because the problems four years ago continue to haunt him, and many people believe the rumors more than the reality, but there is only one person who believes in him, namely an intern reporter. From here, the athlete's struggle to achieve her dream begins accompanied by the reporter who gradually becomes a good luck charm, encouragement and is also the dream of the athlete who dreams of becoming the fastest swimmer in the world.
Here we learn as long as you never give up then your dreams are right in front of your eyes. As long as you are struggling with all your might, your hard work will never fall back on you. As long as you remain steadfast to the end without giving up then you are the real winner.
Here too we learn when no one believes in us there are some people who will stand firm to support and wait for us. He was the athlete trainer from the start who was like a big brother who kept fighting until the athlete was back in the race. There are friends who are like brothers who have waited faithfully for four years to fight together to the finish line and stand on the highest podium together. As long as we are surrounded by people who still believe in us, we should not give up. Sometimes something that looks like a disaster to us but is actually behind it there is a beautiful thing waiting for us. It may seem that four years of time is wasted on others but sometimes from those four years we can learn a lot and can change the path of our destiny in the future.
really like the friendship interaction which is closer than the brothers here.
Lots of funny, tense and sad scenes in this drama.
and fell in love with the athlete's mama, the athlete's best friend, and the athlete's coach. And last all the songs in this drama are very good and meaningful. Please love and watching this drama. I think its worth itu to watch,
I spent 36 episodes in less than four days because I didn't want to stop watching them every time.

This Chinese drama is one of the few dramas that I watched where I thought that it's a must watch. I thought that this was super motivational; every time people would accuse or didn't believe Tang Yi Bai, Yun Duo would be one of the only ones who believed him. I find this drama to be super cute; even though it was a long drama, each episode hooked me in due to its music, plot line, and romance.

Seven Tan, who plays the role of Yun Duo, displays really cute actions. The look in her eyes helped make the chemistry between Tang Yi Bai and her extremely well. Yun Duo is someone who follows her morals through no matter what the situation is and no matter who was against her. She never gives up!

Dylan Xiong, who plays the role of Tang Yi Bai, became my bias (next to Zhang Han) after watching this drama. I really wished that I would find a boyfriend similar to Tang Yi Bai. He has a forgiving heart and is super understanding. Also, I liked his interactions that he had with Yun Duo when they became a couple. Also, every time he would enter the competition and he was slowly losing, the song and his never giving up spirit really moved me.

This drama taught me so many things. Always never to give up!

I wished that they would have a season 2!

My first Chinese sport drama experience

So I don't know where I should start it...
Let's start at the beggining.
At the first I didn't like the sports series because I thought they are just playing sports in it, what could be so interesting about it.
A month later one of my friend said she found a new Chinese series, watch it together. I said okay, but back then I didn’t know it was an athletic (sport) series because she didn’t say that. I was very nervous, but at the same time I was surprised because it was not that bad as I thought. - I even enjoyed it -
When Yun Duo and Yi Bai met I was really happy omo - from the time they met, I fell in love with the series - but I hated that it was so long series omg! it was really long and by the way, I already wanted to know what would happen to them in the end..so I wassss so excited.
And at the end I was grateful to my friend, but I maked her to promise to me l that she should tell me what we're gonna see before we start it. waa
Btw this drama had a cute, fun, and catch-worthy storyline! It was no that bad, I want to reccommend to everyone who love Sport dramas ^.^
And at the last thing is what I want to say I just want to say thank you for the directors and to the cast and to the stuff, thank you for working hard ❤️
~ Rea

This drama is so cute!! It reminds me of Love O2O in a way, because (though it is very different) it's sweet in a similar way and Tang Yi Bai's teammates are fun and supportive (there's a lot of bromance going on there). Tang Yi Bai and Yun Dou are very sweet, individually and together, and there are a lot of good messages about determination and working to achieve your dreams in the drama. This drama manages to stay interesting until the end, without so many of the cliche drama twists. It's very straightforward and heartwarming.

The people who really steal the show are Qi Ruifeng, Xiang Yang Yang, and Tang Yi Bai's mom. All of them were fantastic in every scene they were in. I ended up very attached to Qi Ruifeng and Xiang Yang Yang and their story line (I adore them and could rewatch their scenes pretty much forever).

The acting and cast were PHENOMENAL and I really can't wait to see all of these actors in so many more things. It does not hurt that there are a number of very attractive people throughout. Even the characters who only show up for a few episodes, like Lin Hao Yang, were amazing.

Admittedly, I didn't care as much for every story line, while most of the story was excellent and very well done, I found myself really not caring as much about the second male lead's whole deal, and the second time I watched this drama I skipped through those parts, just focusing on the swimming focused story lines, but even so overall the story is extremely worth watching. Even as a youth/sports drama, I've never watched another drama quite like it.

Honestly, this drama is just so incredibly sweet and absolutely worth watching. I hope to encounter more like it, but until then I'll probably just keep coming back and rewatching the story lines I loved.

This was a really sweet show. Nothing about it was extraordinary but every aspect of it was sweet, charming, and made you feel for the characters and what to see what happened to them.
The story wasn't massively original or innovative but it wasn't badly written. Yes their were some parts of the story that could have been condensed down and some side stories that could have maybe been cut all together, I get they had to make 36 episode and none of the side plots were bad.
The actors did a really good jobs and all the character made sense and had motivations there was nothing in the story that stood out or was annoying. All the characters where charming in their own way. Unlike in many young love focused shows no one was a massive jerk who you hated every time they were on screen. All the actors had good chemistry especially the two main leads together, as well as the main male lead with his swim team friends they had a really good dynamic.
The music was good and fit with the scenes also the ending song got stuck in my head for a really long time.

tl;dr sweet story, charming cast, fun journey nothing massive amazing but leaves you feeling good. A show that I would good back to when I just want to watch something charming if you feel down

Good for free time watch experience

the drama is really nice, the casting is perfect, the interaction between the couple together is very natural and freaking adorable, and it's nice to see their relationship and chemistry grow. If only the writers put more attention to the ending and gave us more lovey-dovey scenes because along with the drama, there are times where problems get a bit draggy (but still bearable).

overall, it's an unexpected nice teenage romance. It has nice ost, it's not too cheesy, the plot is not overly cliche~ I actually enjoyed this a lot (watched this like one year ago actually).... and that's from me who rarely finished teenage c-dramas:p

Great Romance Sports Drama

My rating: 9/10

“My Mr. Mermaid” is a charming Chinese sports romance that centers on competitive swimming and the slow-burn relationship between a dedicated swimmer and a rookie sports reporter. If you’re a fan of romances built around a specific sport, this one delivers—it’s uplifting, focuses on dreams and personal growth, and lets you pick up interesting real-world details about athletes’ careers along the way (like how young many swimmers peak and retire).

The chemistry between the lead couple, Tang Yi Bai and Yun Duo, is one of the highlights. Their connection builds gradually and feels natural, especially given her job giving her access to his world. You genuinely root for them as you watch each one start to fall for the other in sweet, believable ways. I also really enjoyed Tang Yi Bai’s friend group and how Yun Duo interacted with them—it added warmth and humor without feeling forced.

The series wraps up on a satisfying note that left me smiling rather than emotionally drained, which is a big plus for anyone who prefers lighter, more balanced stories. My daughter (in her 30s) rated it an 8.5/10, and I’d give it a 9/10. We both felt that some of the elements that bothered us were likely more tied to cultural differences in storytelling and social expectations than flaws in the script itself.

Overall, this is a solid recommendation for anyone who loves heartfelt romances, especially those with a sports backdrop. It’s entertaining, teaches you a bit about the world of swimming, and keeps the focus on connection and support. If that sounds like your vibe, it’s worth checking out!

Spoilers

While the romance between Tang Yi Bai and Yun Duo was the heart of the show for me and nearly perfect on its own, a few supporting elements frustrated me more than they probably should have, largely due to cultural lenses. In American culture, we tend to emphasize individual boundaries and consequences, so some of the forgiveness arcs felt off to me. For instance, Yun Duo’s best friend deleting her work in a sabotage attempt was something I found completely unforgivable—yet Tang Yi Bai encouraged her to forgive, and they reconciled as friends. That dynamic just didn’t sit right with me; a friend like that would make me question the friendship entirely.

Similarly, Lin Zi manipulated Yun Duo repeatedly and lied about so many things, yet the story handled her response to him inconsistently in my eyes. She never fully forgave him despite the career support he offered at times, which felt odd next to how quickly she reconciled with her friend. I personally thought neither deserved easy forgiveness, but that’s where the cultural difference in prioritizing group harmony over individual accountability really showed.

The character I struggled with most was the obsessive girl who had the unhealthy fixation on Tang Yi Bai. Her actions (including tampering with his drink and then downplaying responsibility because she “changed her mind,” plus the dramatic traffic incidents and resulting injury) came across as selfish and in need of real mental health support rather than coddling. The amount of screen time devoted to her drama and the way everyone catered to her felt like a tired trope that dragged for me. I much preferred seeing more of Tang Yi Bai’s funny and adorable mother—we got great glimpses of her energy, but I wished for more payoff with her fully seeing the couple together instead of them still hiding things at the end.

On the brighter side, I absolutely loved the second couple (Qi Rui Feng and Xiang Yang Yang). Their story was cute, compelling, and perfectly balanced—they were a joy every time they appeared, and their dynamic felt refreshing and well-matched. I found myself looking forward to their scenes far more than the heavier drama surrounding the obsessive character.

Some plot points also stretched believability for me, like the coma recovery, the brain tumor detail, and the amnesia pretense—it all felt overly convenient and highlighted how mentally unhealthy certain behaviors were without the characters addressing it directly. The “soft rejection” expectation in obsessive storylines is another clear cultural difference; in Western contexts, clarity is usually encouraged to avoid leading someone on, whereas these dramas often lean into gentler handling.

Despite those irritations, the core romance and sports elements carried the show for me. The slow build between Tang Yi Bai and Yun Duo was genuinely adorable, the friend group added fun, and the ending felt wholesome. Cultural differences explain a lot of my gripes, and I still walked away happy I watched it. It reinforced why I enjoy this genre—I got to learn about swimming careers while enjoying a sweet love story.
