This drama is just WOW. First of all i have to say: i’m not/i wasn’t really into historical dramas but this one is too good to be disliked. I really love the Actress so much and think she does a very good Job on every role she plays! I started the drama not having high expectations (because i thought i wouldn’t be able to enjoy it this much or even come this far) and these thoughts were so wrong like o-o It’s such a beautiful storyline and i just really love how innocent she is. Every episode is liked by me Aaand i didn’t skip any episodes because i didn’t want to miss anything! Even The side characters with this big storyline were really interesting for me and that’s not something that happens a lot to me ;’D I recommend this one so give it a try!❤️

Really lovely characters. I even adore the villain. It’s a show where you fall for the main characters.

I wish it were longer and so I’m excited about the sequel coming up. My only criticism is that I would like to see a little more development and epilogue at the end.

First time for me for Lun Deng and Yang Zi and I will now follow both their careers and watch other dramas with them. I’ll excited to see more of Mr. Puchi. He was so adorable.

I’m re watching it now immediately after seeing it the first time that is how amazing it is.

What can I say? I love this series that I have re watched it 3 times already. The comedic scenes are awesome but I missed some of the great scenes trying to read through the translation.
The tragedies surprised me and was brilliantly done and delivered.
I love Yang Zi and Deng Lun's chemistry. They are good friends in RL and it shows in their character's interactions. I am not sure if ad libs are allowed in Chinese series, as I would have a reaction to a scene where I feel the character should have said something but was not voiced. Could be the translation as it seems to change every time I watch it.
I loved the songs as well even before knowing that Yang Zi and Deng Lun sang their version of it. I can't speak Chinese so I just hum to them.
One thing I'd like to comment on are the kissing scenes. I guess they need to be tame for Chinese standards but just touching lips don't convey passion for me. Lovers should have more passion than what is considered a prolonged "hello" and "good-bye" kiss. The female characters should be able to reciprocate that passion to their male counterparts.
Need to book another few days to rewatch it again for the 4th time.

Remove Either of the 3 Actors or Characters, this show wouldn't be as EPIC as it Is.

To their Credit.
One of the BEST and Real CGI.

**Yangzi pulled off JM with a Nuance very less actors have. Otherwise JM comes across as Stupid. I blame the editors for cutting off her emotional Crying scenes, one should have a look at BTS to know instead of blaming her the weakest, when infact she was the Strongest in understanding JM's arc. HATS off to her.

** Denglun's Portrayl of XF made him Live a Life beyond the original Novel HSALF, which is commendable, he was equal parts adorable and Powerful. I just wish the screewriters showed his PROUD Part MORE. And His Emotional Scenes, If not Him I do not know who could have made us Realize that XF was not a Brat but A man who Lived Cried Laughed and Died for LOVE!!
His Body Language is a very very powerful tool to potray how Xufeng Felt. This man had NO Dialoges unlike the SML but he made a Very Silent character LIVE Through ages and in everyone's memory.!!! HATS OFFFF.

**LeoLuo being the least popular of the 3 stood on his Own, Man the way he lived RY is what made XF/JM especially XF epic. HE made us Love and Loathe RY. And the way he switched to YY character for 10 mn it was Commendable. He was a Great Opposition to Denglun's XF who himself is a very vERY Strong Actor.

+Illogical Plots.+
1.XF and everyone knew SH had Fire Magic , why did no one Suspect Her of using LJ early on?
2. JM did not get Love but She acted without Reasoning, Plain Dumb.
3. XF/JM's Baby is a waterbird not IcePhoenix?

#Spoilerish for those who are confused.

1.a) JM loved XF before The Mortal World Arc, She felt Pain starting Right From When he saved Her from Qiongqi then Their First Kiss, She almost even Fainted when XF was asked to Leave Flower Relam and Told her Camoflauge Self that they Will NEVER MEET. So for those who say Fox Fairy/Moon God Tipped the scales on XF's side by tying Saint and King Yi with Red thread of Fate are Misinformed.JM even with the Pellet Loved Phoenix enough that even after Powerful Insertion and Repair It Cracked not once but Twice!!

1.b) Phoenix Tree Sprouted because JM consumed ZONGZI filled with XF's Spiritual Energy, it dies when either one does , it sprouts back when Both are Alive.

1.c) JM had no feelings for RY whatsoever beyond acquaintance or PITY from like day 1, her best friend or close friend was Puchi Jun and any womanly feeling or emotion was always towards Phoenix, so to say she would have been happy and in love with RY eventually nope she couldn't. She was a Cold Hearted Body, only a Warmth fire could melt here.

2. It is Wrong to Blame RY for XF's Murder because it was JM's Recklessness and Impulsiveness that Killed Him.He manipulated she Acted.RY had a 20% chances of winning that day, Had JM not stabbed XF , RY would have been Killed or lost his Powers at Liuli Jinguo's Mercy.

3.XF will always be a better man than RY HE Loves Openly He Kills Openly Unlike RY who manipulates then Plays Dumb just to be a Pitful Surviver.

3.1 XF was holding his hand while he stared the wedding gown of JM after her death, because that's was the place rabbit JM bit him. XF just wanted a semblance to remember that JM did come and really did LOVE him. It was his eternal Hell and Heaven at one place. AGAIN Body Language DL rocks there.

3.2 XF punishment for RY was live a life holding the Heavens like he wanted. RY's point always has been he was victimized and got nothing, Heaven was something he Won , so XF refused to take it away, RY may still not get the point , but no matter how much of a devil drama XF was he would not have killed RY.

3.3 XF never returned to Snatch JM back, she killed him said she never loved him, So he gave a free pass , it was JM who kept coming back , it wrong to blame him there for coveting the Fake Queen Of heaven when she herself had no feelings for thr King of Heaven.

4.For RY those who actually Love him are taken for granted whether its his Own Mother, Brother or Assistant, as Power,Pity or Obligation. He never understands Love hence He keeps on Miscalculating the Love Between Phoenix and His Grapes. That was his Eternal Doom.

5.RY was never as Powerful as XF no matter what he did, hence he either made JM ellimanate him, CUT OFF his Diety Status, never attacked him in Heavens but challenged him when he was a Mortal and Also Consumes the Evil Qiongqi to Kill Him.NEVER EVER was he more Physically or Magically Stronger than XF.

6. XF needed a Reality Check , because he literally walked on Heavenly Air, He took his Parents as the Law however Corrupt they were.RY was right to show Him the Mirror. Tiandi and Tianhou deserved that.

7. Tuyao was not Always a Villian, she became overly possesive of her Power after Her Legitimate Husband started Wandering around Women for Pleasure and Power. The Lady gave up her Love , Tribe and Sacrificed her Dignity for Taiwei and He just did not care, she bit back and Made Havoc in everyone's Life.

8. HOW is XF Taiwei's Son when he is more Like Lianchao Puzzles me. I think the writer left it up to imagination.

9.Tangyue is not Half Immortal Half Mortal, He is a Water Bird Bailu, He is entirely Immortal because JM got the Spiritual Power given again by XF at the end of the Love Doom which made her IMmortal Shuishen again then he was born.

10.JM was the only character who never had Free Will uptil episode 50, others Loved hated manipulated with their entire head and heart in right place, that is why she acts the way she did. But that does not explain why 2 evidences made her End her Love into Ashes.

11. Moon God and Puchi Jun are the Most Loveable Character in this Universe . Period.

12. Mozun and Frost Flower Mutually Cultivated in Yujiang Place that scene was blurred out ,ONE HAS to Listen to JM's Monologue to understand the Level of Intimacy she compares SH with, She already saw XF SH kiss once , the intimacy here indicated Physical Intimacy.

13. When XF threw the Great Phoenix Feather ala Fengling at JM as an attack at the Jiu Yung Cave, it acts as a Shield on Her because Fengling is A part of XF , it senses his Real Intentions and Love so It protected JM from the attack, throughout the show it Keeps on Growing in Size sensing the danger equivalency. Hence XF's dialog Even You Betrayed me.

14. Mozun Sprout Blood when JM destroyes the Frost Petal is because it got integrated in His soul, That Petal has His essence attached to it, The destruction made him bleed.

15. The most pitful end was probably faced by Liuying, she never got her husband back for resurrection. Hope she got a HEA somewhere.

Who would ever think that I, a Christian woman, would root for the Demon World? BUT I DID! I loved everyone scene of this movie, oops, I lied, except for the stabbing of Xu Feng by Jin Mi. I feel in awe over these two main actors and actresses, Deng Lun and Yang Zi. Their chemistry was really over the top! I did research on these two and saw that they have been acting together since childhood. I know that I'm going to have a really hard time watching Deng Lun and Yang Zi play other lead roles where they are not a couple. I will apologize for that beforehand. The romance scene felt so realistic. It was hard to separate acting from reality. No disrespect! Sometimes the eyes can see more than what it is. The storyline was a 10 for sure. The song that was sung by Deng Lun and Yang Zi was too cute! I loved all the Back Stage scenes... you can tell those two knew each other for a long time. FATE or Destined... who knows. The fans can see it but not sure if the DL or YZ see it. I recommend everyone to watch it. Thank you to the cast and crew for making what should be a 10 rating everywhere. (just saying) BTW I watch it 11 times so far.

One of the best Chinese dramas i've ever watch, since first episode i was hooked and that never happened before.
I'm not lying if i say that stoped watching other dramas because my expectations now are high, beside i found them boring. It feels empty now that's ended. I don't know what to watch?vgbfbfbfhfffbhnghfnbhngnhhgnnhgnhgnvdfdfvd

Another classic

If you like Eternal Love, then you will definitely love Ashes of Love.

Series seem long but it keeps you engaged and the story tell the hardship that Jinmi and Xufeng faces. Lots of ups and downs but loves conquer all. There’s crying, laughter and deep emotions.

The FL and ML have such great chemistry and you can feel the struggles they go through. FL is strong and not child-like (thank goodness), she persevered through her struggles. ML was kind, gentle and so sweet, never give up even when he tries to be cruel.

Music and cinematography was very good.

Overall, I wished they make more dramas like this and Eternal Love instead of child-like FL that act dumb trying to be cute.

I don't understand the logic of this story

It can be called rant.

1. The FL is kind of dump that didn't even know male and female?
i mean, for real? she befriend with snake and life with carrot, and no one told her the differences? how did those flower teach her? those flower said she is precious flower goddess daughter and heiress but NO ONE teach her anything. until the point she need to beg someone else power. Atleast teach her that good woman didn't HOOK UP with her fiancee brother.
And did she really love ML? she can't love ya know. she even personally killed him too. and the stupid thing is that everyone blame 2ml instead which so stupid. i though every one is blind in this drama.

2. The ML is innocent heart but hook up with his future sister-in-law even become demon?.

and the worst thing is that all cast think he is right and even critisize the real partner by saying he is cruel and cold blooded. The ML exactly know that his brother can't breakup the engagement even if he wanted but he keep plestering him like bear child. Instead of come to his father ( he did & failed) & water god . Offering exchange the throne that wasn't even his.
oh they loved each other, they need to be together, wth with matchmaking
meh, back then, marriage is count on parent not by self.
plus he then betray his co-patriot by turning his back against heaven which give him privillige like no one else. i am curios how many soldier died because his so called, heart of child.

but well. if you want to watch idol drama for wasting time. its good enough to watch. at least you can look pretty face

Decided to watch because of the high rating, as well as my love of Ten Miles, as it has similar themes. Cast is beautiful, costumes are fire, acting is ok as well. The story fell flat for me though.

I loved RY’s character for the first 20 eps, but I dropped it when I saw the direction they were taking him in.

XF is manipulative AF towards JM, yet we only get sinister vibes when RY decides to do something for himself for once by letting Water Immortal overhear their convo. I’m sure, based on reviews I read after I dropped it, that RY wld end up doing some devious shit, and I wasn’t here for that. Cause XF is an asshole, but he’s the ‘good guy’ so his behavior is of course excused.

XF has convinced himself that JM is in love with him, even though she stated several times that she’s likes him, as well as his brother, and his servants, as friends. She also doesn’t even recognize gender differences, but XF conveniently forgets that little fact when he fish kisses her by force, or has his brother’s fiancée spend the entire night taking care of him!

JM on the other hand, is just too much. If someone’s just sat her down and explained to her the roles of men and women, and the expected behaviors of soon to be married couples, the first 1/3 of the show wouldn’t have happened at all

I do regret not seeing more of the demon girl tho. I absolutely loved her character when she was around. She’s looks like she cld have been a good match for either of the brothers tbh.

Alas, that’s the sacrifice I’m willing to make

Nincompoop warning: may cause indigestion.

I am posting this as a warning not to unwittingly get sucked into watching this show. I picked it up after the almost overwhelming number of (misleading) rave reviews about it. This is not another Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, it is in no way comparable on every possible level and it is not enjoyable to watch at all. The plot may well be somewhat interesting and my overall impression of the story line is that it is decent. I am willing to give all Chinese drama 10-12 episodes to engage me. With this one, sadly I could barely even bring myself to watch no 10. The main problem is the lead actress alienated me from the get go with her portrayal of Jinmi as a silly, naive, mischievous, noisy and thoroughly obnoxious young girl. It was not at all adorable or charming, just dumb and annoying. I could have ignored it if it was just one or two episodes but it went on endlessly and there was so, so much of it and none of it added to the storyline. It was quite obvious from the beginning that there is a love triangle in the plot. But she made the character so not lovable that it was just not credible that the two rather superb male leads would fall for such a complete and utter nincompoop. It made the unfolding story-line of two half-brothers who were very close but starting to fall out over their rivalry for this silly, shallow and irritating girl just seem not at all believable. I would however, have readily bought into the two of them fighting each other not to have to marry her she was so obnoxious!

It is my pet peeve that Chinese drama likes to portray female characters in this most unflattering light. But one has to believe that the actress has some artistic input and this one really completely got it wrong by over-acting. Maybe it would have been ok if she "grew up" after one or two episodes and became actually likable. Very quickly,, I lost patience and had to fast forward or mute her every time she opened her mouth. In fact I put this actress whom I have never watched before on my NO list- I will not watch this super low talent actress again. I decided to abandon it after I started to hope she would quickly come to a tragic end and both princes would find happiness with someone (anyone) else.

Dramas nowadays avoid portraying these terrible female stereotypes. I guess if you don't understand the language and are just reading subtitles it could be less obnoxious. Thankfully MANY other hit C-dramas have started to significantly dial down these outdated female stereotypes or have eliminated them altogether. It is why shows like Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, Nirvana in Fire and Princess Weiyoung are in a different class altogether from Ashes of Love. However, the reviews I have seen are not pointing out how difficult this one is to get into and is unfairly putting this show in the same league of many much superior dramas. The story line itself sounds promising but exectution was terrible. Probably best to just read the book and pass on the show.

I’m halfway through this, and I have a lot of thoughts, good and bad.

STORY
I really like the concept and I find myself sucked it, but that may just be because I’m a a slut for drama. I like it, but DEAR LORD is it slow. At the point I’m at, I’m skipping through most everything just to get to some actual development, but I think I’ll be satisfied once it picks up again.

ACTING
Den Lun (Xufeng) is great. I love him, I’ve loved him for a while. The reason my acting score is kind of low is because of Yang Zi (Jin Mi). I don’t know if this is her or the role, but she doesn’t do much except stare and look halfway shocked for the most part.

MUSIC
Not bad, but it doesn’t catch my attention.

REWATCH VALUE
After I finish this, I might rewatch certain scenes, but it’s way too slow for me to really rewatch.

OVERALL
I’m a sucker for sappy romances, so this is right up my alley. The story is cute and love struck looks so good on Xufeng. My only complaint is the fact that you could probably shorten this to 50 episodes and lose nothing.

i felt bored at some points because the side caracthers were a little annoying but i absolutely LOVED the politics & the messy family drama between the emperor and his sons, it was sooo good! xx
