Ting Ye is easily angered by Man Niang but Ming Lan is able to calm and reason with him. They are not able to get Chang'er's location from Man Niang, so Rong'er tries, but this leads to dire circumstances. It becomes clear that Madam Gu is working with the Bai family to take down Ting Ye. They release Man Niang in hopes that she will eventually lead them to Chang'er, but she instead causes more trouble.
