First things first: the story. From the first episode, it honestly grasps your attention and curiosity right away. Questions begin to flood you about Ji An's story, Dong Hoon's life, and generally the interpersonal relationships among everyone living in Hoogye. The entire drama ultimately leaves you desperate for a coalition of loving friends and family that will truly support and help you whenever you need it. And, although I'm quite the romantic and a large inkling of me wanted to see some romantic action, there were no drastic plot changes in the name of love. It was realistic, and that's just another central reason as to why I enjoyed My Mister so, so much. After just completing Goblin, I didn't feel good. The story seemed off, and I realize why now: because it was completely unrealistic, and not just because the main characters had magical powers. It was because the story really didn't make sense. It pulled the laws and realities of what is reasonable too far and made the relationships created across 20 episodes seem very fake. For My Mister, the relationships are real, run deep, and do not betray what real life can look like.
The acting was PHENOMENAL. Every actor/actress played their roles diligently, and I, never for a second while watching, did I question whether that was their real personality or one they took on. There was one scene with Ki and Sang Hoon, where Sang Hoon was unimpressed with magic tricks and Ki Hoon exasperatedly asked, "Why do you cry when you watch TV shows then? It's all just acting." My Mister, surely one of the best magic tricks I have ever seen, took my breath away. I think basically all of the characters that I originally found annoying grew on me by the end, which is really rare for me and TV shows lol. However, I was IN. LOVE. with IU throughout the whole show, and her relationships with her grandma, Kwang II, Ki Beom (only fault: I wish they expanded more on this relationship), Jung-Hee and duh Dong Hoon made me love those characters and their acting even more. I loved Dong Hoon's relationship with Team 3 and even the CEOs. I loved the acting in My Mister!
I didn't even question that the music would pull my heartstrings when IU is the main lead. The OST is gorgeous and the song choices for specific scenes and people fit very well. I don't know if I can say much more than that for the soundtrack, but just like everything else with My Mister, it was thoughtful and well done.
Overall, I really recommend that you watch this show, whether it's for specific actors, an enticing and unique story, or just to see a glimpse of what real humanity looks like. I guarantee this: you will feel good inside after watching. If you don't, my sincerest apologies lol that I took away 16x80 minutes of your life, but that's highly unlikely. It's a uplifting drama with great actors, great music, and a fantastic plot.

Let's Be Happy!
Every once in a while, a series comes along, or perhaps even a movie, that is so heartfelt and thought-provoking that you just want to sit with it after you've finished it. This is one of those series.Perhaps one of the most profound truths, that is too often missed, overlooked, or simply forgotten is that true happiness can only come from one place: from within. People futilely look for such happiness in all of the wrong places. They may find brief moments of joy, or perhaps in a distraction, but ultimately find that all such counterfeits are fleeting.
Happiness is only ever something you can be. It’s an impossibility to “do” happiness. In other words, whenever you believe that something outside of yourself (work, relationships, money, sex, etc.) can bring you happiness, it’s like constantly chasing an elusive shadow that you can never catch. Happiness is literally a choice, just as unhappiness is also a choice. Eckhart Tolle wisely stated, “It’s never the situation that makes you unhappy, but merely your perception of the situation. If you want to change your experience, change your perception.”
“My Mister” is an absolutely brilliant and poignant series about a group of people who are clearly living unhappy lives. It reminded me a little of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” in which George Bailey has no idea of the wonderful life he’s had, despite not necessarily getting to do all of the things he’s dreamed of, or the hardships he's had to endure.
Park Dong Hun is a general manager at a firm where he’s a structural engineer. Right from the start, we realize that he’s not a very happy man. He’s in a loveless marriage, and the only bit of joy he seems to find is in spending time drinking with his two brothers, both of whom are unemployed as the series begins. However, Park Dong Hun does have one noble aspect to his character. He’s essentially a good man who will always do his best to do right by others. However, despite this, he’s also prone to being a bit of a doormat, allowing others to use and abuse him.
Lee Ji-An is a temporary worker at Park Dong Hun’s company. She’s a young woman in severe debt, no thanks to her mother, who borrowed a tremendous amount of money, and after she died, Ji-An assumed the responsibility for paying it off. She came from an abusive family, in which she had no choice but to kill her step-father in defense of her grandmother, a sweet woman whom Ji-An looks after and cares for. As the series begins, she is a woman simply looking out for herself, even resorting to stealing and extortion in order to survive, sometimes working 2-3 jobs. She is a miserable young woman who rarely ever smiles, and never bothers with even a “Thank You” if an act of kindness or help comes her way. In fact, the one time she does say, "Thank You," it's powerful because we know how much she means it.
Park Dong Hun has two immediate problems. His wife is cheating on him with the CEO of his company, and he gets pulled right into the middle of the office politics, when the members of the board are in a battle to get rid of the new CEO. An envelope, mistakenly sent to him with bribe money, gets him into trouble. JI-An gets involved when he attempts to hide the money, and she initially steals it. To Park Dong Hun’s surprise, she attempts to help him, even when the CEO hires her to help him get Park Dong Hun fired.
What transpires is an unwitting and unlikely relationship between Park Dong Hun and Lee Ji-An as both struggle to uncover what is going on at the company. Lee Ji-An has assistance from a young man who’s a master at computers and wire-tapping, and she uses these things to get information. After all, especially in this day and age, information is power, and Ji-An knows it. She quickly discovers that Park Dong Hun’s wife is having an affair, but she attempts to help Park Dong Hun save face. Actually, it’s even more than that. She tries to spare him the pain.
It doesn’t take long before it becomes clear that Lee Ji-An likes Park Dong Hun. Perhaps it’s because he is the very first person in her life to treat her as a human being, often doing things to try and help her, including helping Lee Ji-An get her destitute grandmother into a facility. Too often, people underestimate what an act of kindness can do for someone else. Park Dong Hun doesn’t even realize the powerful ally he has in his corner, doing all she can to protect him from the wrath of the CEO and those plotting his downfall.
Park Dong Hun and Lee Ji-An have something in common, despite their age difference: they both have a very low self-esteem. Even once Park Dong Hun confronts his wife about the affair, it’s clear that nothing will change because there’s simply no love between them. They run through the same, exact routine every day. There are no loving or even kind words exchanged between them. They’re simply roommates playing a part for the sake of his family and their son. In short, it can hardly be called a “marriage.” It’s more of a relationship of convenience. In short, due to both of their situations, they’re simply no longer compatible.
Lee Ji-An, on the other hand, firmly believes that she’s eternally trapped in the life she’s living. Most prisons exist out of our own making, and Lee Ji-An doesn’t believe she’s worthy of doing anything else. Her only lifeline; her only hope for possibly a better future, lies with Park Dong Hun. “You’re the only person who has ever been nice to me,” she says, and they frequently talk about how pitiful they are. It’s interesting in life how easily people find others who are of the same mindset or have the same feelings of self-worth, or lack thereof. It’s the simple law of magnetism. What you put out, you attract. Happy people tend to attract others who are happy, and unhappy people attract others who are miserable.
The comic relief of the series comes in the form of Park Dong Hun’s two brothers, who often act more like the two stooges! These two guys are so hilarious sometimes that I found myself laughing as soon as a scene cut to them. They bicker and squabble, and they can’t seem to turn a corner in their little “midget van” without rolling it over…literally! Park Gi-Hun is the youngest brother, a former movie director, and a bit temperamental, who shares a cleaning service with the oldest brother, Park Sang—Hun, a man who wears his emotions on his sleeve, but constantly complains about never having any money. His wife doesn’t even want to have anything to do with him, and both brothers are living with their mother, who frequently chews them out for their lack of success. In short, Park Dong Hun is the sole light of pride with their mother, but he’s also the sole reason for her constant worrying and stress, hoping that he’s happy.
Throughout the entire series, there is only a single person who understands that happiness begins with you, and that’s Park Dong-Hun’s best friend, Gyum Deok, who became a Buddhist monk, even leaving his wife to pursue his only goal: to be happy. He is also the only one who knows what to do when he's faced with a challenge. He meditates, thus re-centering himself. Everyone has a different path, and part of that path is about also following your passion and finding your gift. Gyum Deok often provides little pearls of wisdom for Park Dong-Hun, who is often struggling just to stay afloat. But, it’s not enough to simply “get by” in life, however that looks. And by the time the series ends, we get two genuine moments: Park Dong-Hun smiling—really smiling—when he’s finally learned how to be happy and enjoy his work. And Lee Ji-An, who realizes that a person can change and make great strides in this world. Perhaps, she finally understands that the only “shackles,” the only thing that truly holds a person back, isn’t other people’s perceptions of us, but the delusions of such thinking that exists only within our own minds.
There are a number of sweet and tender moments throughout the series. My personal favorite was when Park Sang-Hun rallied and paid for flowers, food, and calling everyone to be at Lee J-An’s grandmother's funeral. If you can’t find something to do for yourself, find something to do for someone else. He spends months saving up his money, and without even having to think about it, he makes sure that the funeral for Lee Ji-An’s grandmother is done properly. However, the last words of wisdom from Lee Ji-An’s grandmother are simple, regarding all of the kind things that Park Dong Hun has done for both Lee Ji-An and her grandmother. “Make sure to pay him back. And the way to pay him back is to be happy.” What’s ironic is that this is the most powerful way to demonstrate gratitude.
IU does a great job as Lee Ji-An. She rarely ever smiles, effectively showing us how miserable Lee Ji-An is, but she went even deeper than that. She showed us a character who truly lives without hope, which I don’t think is nearly as easy to do as people might think. And then Lee Sun Kyun effectively gives us Park Dong Hun, who feels trapped in an unhappy life. At one point, when Park Dong Hun stands at the Han River, and we already know what’s going on in his mind. This was a powerful moment, because as Lee Ji-An is listening to him through the wiretap, she also knows what’s going through his mind.
Among the most powerful relationships are those that bring two people together for true healing to take place. Park Dong Hun and Lee Ji-An could have easily gone the other way, and effectively destroyed each other, but instead, they find a way to help and be there for each other, which in turn helps them help themselves. And the only reason the latter occurs is because deep down, despite their situations, both are essentially good people. While it appeared that Lee Ji-An had feelings for Park Dong Hun, it’s really more about her seeing someone else who values her. The relationship between the two was done extremely well. No physical contact or other moments were needed to realize how much they actually do love each other. Love doesn’t always imply a romantic component, and that is why the love they share is so powerful and compelling. This is especially evident in the very last scene of the series.
I cannot overstate how incredible this series is, and it’s already among some of my all-time favorites. I can see why so many people are enamored with it. If nothing else, it should serve as a reminder to find happiness within yourself first. Be happy!

This film was, compared to his previous ones, more deep and you will learn to hope and how to be a proper adult in the midst of hardship in life and what it means to be a real hero. He has a special way to resolve struggle and obstacles and deliver you to perfect climax and resolution. I highly recommend it and I hope the subtitle will be able to deliver the subtle yet strong message, and the beauty of this film.

Despite all those rom com, thriller, Sci fi kdramas, THE BEST OF THE BEST KDRAMA....
MY MISTER was the best of the best for my entire kdrama list, i've already finished 130 kdramas but for some reason they can't be compared to this drama,I don't like the affair scene in the drama but the story was too great and also the Main character in this drama,
the sadness, the affection towards the mister from her, all of them ..
I didn't watch this as a romance , they should ended up together at the end, it's like i love that drama,
I mostly like rom com where the Male lead s ended up together at the end with a fantasy end, but when i watching this i diidn't feel that way,
The Characters in that drama and the Actors who gave life to that characters was too perfect, I think that's why i was too attract to this drama,
Since the begging till the Episode 6 or 7 we don't here so much talk from female lead character, she looks like a cold character with too much difficulties, but actually she isn't like that,
At the End of the drama I felt too happy that she gained all the things that she should get, I was really happy about the ending part of her character, it makes my eyes filled with tears not for sad but for the happy..
In a coner of my mind wish her to be with MISTER but the ending is too happy that it can let it side easily..
I really don't wanna talk about the other character cause it'll remind the whole series of the drama then i'll remind the those happy moments as well as the Sad moments, i don't want that ..
so any way this was the VERY first Drama that I felt like the best of the best,
don't think it's because they are talking about the reality of the life, NO that can be a little little reason but it's not the actual case..
It's the story line and the Acting....
HOPE YOU ALL GET TO WATCH THIS DRAMA IF YOU DIDN'T WATCH IT YET...

A Slow-Burner... But a Good One At That!
I have heard so much raves about My Mister on social media, with many people hailing it as one of the best K-drama series of all time. Since, it was on Netflix, I had to watch it. I was surprised by the tone and atmosphere of this series, which was unlike any of the K-dramas that I've seen thus far. It's a different kind of Kdrama. One that is more depressing , dark and melancholy. Engaging and touching, this series was very good though it is a slow-burner I must say. It does take patience to watch this series, but you do get rewarded. I love that the story is bout friendship not love. I love that the two leads develop a deep friendship rather than love, which we have seen so many time before. On a side note, this series reminded me of Parasite with the idea of poor but intelligent individuals conning wealthy people for money. Acting, production and story were all quite good though there were a few questionable moments, especially during the first few episodes. For Episode 1, why didn't Dong Hoon put the money in his bag which was right under his desk. Why would he go through the trouble of getting a folder to cover the package and putting it in the drawer. Even when he believed that there was the possibility that Lee Ji Ahn saw his hide the package, why wouldn't he just put it in his bag right then? Even when Lee Ji Ahn asked him for dinner, he could have still put the package into his bag (even if she was lording over him which I assumed that she was). If she asks what the package is, he could easily lie and say that it's nothing. Even angle-wise, I'm not sure that Lee Ji Ahn would be able to see Dong Hoon open the package since he did have a barrier to his left which could have easily covered this act. And why would the guy in charge of the electricity room help her? And she didn't even give him a cut of the money. Of course, I'm being nit picky.
I felt that there were too many coincidences in the first few episodes. Such as in Episode 3, how did the brother know that the waiters at that club wore that uniform when it seemed like he was there for the first time. And there's no way that Ji Ahn orchestrated that hit-and-run as she would have to time exactly when he was wake up at the hotel, etc. Too many factors to take into account.
All in all though, it was a great K-drama series. Not the best K-drama that I've seen, but definitely one of the best. *Fighting*

This is the best gift you can give to yourself
I loved this story so deeply, it melted my heart completely. I loved every single caracter. For once there is a story that talk about profund love not in a romantic way, just lost people that need someone who belives in them and been there where in needs. Just kindness, compassion and trusting, first for ourselves, against the hardness of life. This is a gift for everybody, reminding us that everyone needs a second chance, that nothing is set on a stone and that is possible to love and be loved in very significant way, even if the one who give it to us is not related neither by blood nor from long time friendship or age.Was this review helpful to you?
A piece of art.
This is my favorite K-drama because it is perfect in all senses: acting, OST, story, characters..... I cried so many times watching this series. It is a hidden gemstone.Main actors, IU and the amazing late actor Lee Sun Kyun (R.I.P), shone and showed they were perfect for their roles. Each one of the supporting actors made many positive contributions with their side stories to the growth and development of the drama and in the end, you fall in love with all of them, as a whole big family full of love and emotional support.
The OST made me dive into the story even deeper. It is so touching! And after LSK death, it all makes even more sense to me.
It is a masterpiece that everyone into emotional dramas should watch. You won't regret about it! 10/10

An unforgettable masterpiece.
I usually watch only thriller and action but decided to give this drama a go because I've read so much praise about it.And now after finishing it I can say My Mister is the easiest 10/10 I have ever given. No other show, western or Korean, has affected me emotionally like My Mister has.
It is an absolutely beautiful story of two depressed and troubled people who heal and save each other.
My Mister is depressing and sad at some points, but most importantly it is hopeful. My Mister shows how important it is to be kind to others and how important it is to have caring people around you.
My Mister (나의 아저씨) deserves the perfect rating of 10/10 and it is a must-watch show for everyone.

This drama hit a nerve(or should i say several nerves?)
The way my heart is breaking after realizing i've felt the exact same things that each of these characters felt.No i haven’t been through the hardships they have been, but all the emotions they've gone through are very familiar to me.I'm a very boring person like dong-hoon is portrayed as,I keep everything to myself and don't share anything with my family.Like ji-ahn I'm not sociable at all and people try to avoid me.Like sang hoon i feel like I'm only eating and shitting and accomplishing nothing (they made it sound funny but it's very heart-breaking).Like gi-hoon i lose motivation for something i love if it doesn’t work out.Like yoon hee I feel like an outcast to people i care for.Like yoo ra I feel like I'm not good enough and try to give up every chance i get.Like jeong-hee it's hard for me to leave bed in the morning and carry the day out.So I know the rollercoaster of emotions i went through while watching this drama.
I'm glad for people who didn’t find it relatable and rather boring.Stay happy like this forever.I hope i can get myself out of this miserable pit like the characters did in the end.
Giving 7 to rewatch value because it will take a lot of courage for me to give it a rewatch.

Best Drama of all time!
The first is the story. The story of this drama the story is well made. The second is Acting/casting. I like the Cast of the show especially IU, why? Because the way she portrayed her character is so good and I also liked all the cast the way they portrayed their characters is not only good but GREAT! The Third is Music. Boy The music really fits the drama especially the song "Rainbow" that song is the emotional moments of the drama. The Fourth is The Rewatch value. I gonna say this, I gonna admit it gets a bit boring in later episodes but when you try to understand the episode then you will enjoy it I watched this a lot of times already, and it's not boring at all. The Fifth is The Overall. Overall the show is just so great the writers of this show should be given o much credit because the way the flow of the drama is the flow is slow but I think a slower flow is better for this drama I personally hated slow-paced dramas but for some reason in this drama, I liked it But recommend this drama I personally enjoyed it and I hope you guys enjoy it too.Was this review helpful to you?

My favorite scenes which was really heartwarming (and sorrowful at the same time)
👨🏻👨🏻👨🏻Ep 7 56.20
Ep 8 05.00
Ep 12 30.10 51.50 01.14.40
Ep 13 10.45
Ep 15 01.17.55
Ep 16 07.20
A series that tell people's "failure" which would made us think twice about failure definition itself. At the start the story bonding up the viewers to each of the characters so the viewers would sympathise them, even for the loan shark (played awesome by Jang Ki Yong--strangely, I truly loved him in this role). My heart was painful by watching what they're dealing with and started to understanding every choices each character takes. Eventho the ending gave us "a happy ending" vibes (and I feel happy for that), it can't stop me from thinking this. Life's a marathon, not a sprint. As long as we're living in this world, there is always problems coming out to our face asking for a solution. But all we need is living our sucks life and find our comfort. Just like the Ahjussi's last dialog, "Ji An, have you found your comfort?"
