FOR ANYONE THAT WANTS TO FEEL LOVED, WATCH THIS SHOW
this is something I should've done long time ago, after rewatching it again I got the feeling that I have to share my feelings for this show, I wont say my life was hard, but at the time I watched this show, I was in a situation no one should be in, and could relate to this show a lot, therefore whenever I rewatch it hits hard on how did I manage all what I've been through, back when you first watched this show, it gave me the warmest hug ever, and after all this time when i rewatched it again it still gave me a hug that is not less warm to what I've got on the first time, this show is "PURE GOLD"Was this review helpful to you?
The Depiction Of Life's Many Realities Was Very Accurate
I loved it honestly though the music dissapointed meMy favourite were the 3 brothers I just loved them all round the represented different types of emotions that the other couldn't express for example the younger one was the anger and frustration of the 3 their anger and frustration got expressed through him... The oldest brother was the happiness and hope of the 3 he expressed it for his younger brothers the middle one expressed sadness and empathy something that the older brother and the youngest barely expressed much as they'd just laugh off their problems.
Do joon young was a character that we had everything about but at the same time we had nothing about him the fleshing out of his character leaves one unsatisfied feels like there could have been more but he just ended up feeling like a side character and not the main antagonist same thing happened with Kwang II the loan shark guy
Now probably something that made a few people angry
"why didn't he divorce her" they captured the married life perfectly and him forgiving her for cheating is something very common amongst married couples what's most important is that everyone sits down and have the very much needed conversations and everyone reflect their roles in the union i actually smiled a bit seeing how they didn't go with the she cheated they got divorced instead they seemed to work things through with him even sending her to school so she can learn English (that was funny)
I could go on the whole day but this seems like it's enough
Ohhh and i absolutely the fact that their relationship didn't turn in to a romantic one that was beautiful
9/10 for me the missing 1 is because of the music

Finding Quiet Hope in Everyday Pain
My Mister is a quiet, heavy drama that takes its time to settle into your bones. In the beginning, it felt overwhelmingly sad. Every character was carrying something painful, and the slow pacing only deepened the sense of gloom. It hit close to home at times, enough that I initially watched it on 1.5x just to get through the weight of it.But midway through, my perspective shifted. What stood out wasn’t just the suffering, but the resilience. Every character was dealing with hardship, yet they continued to live, work, and show up for the people around them. They found small moments of warmth, shared meals, quiet conversations, and simple acts of care. The drama slowly transforms from something depressing into something deeply human.
By the final episodes, I was emotionally invested. The ending was beautiful, understated, and quietly devastating. I cried, though I’m still not entirely sure why. Maybe it was for the characters, maybe for myself, or maybe for the realization that life can be both unbearably hard and gently kind at the same time.
The bond between Lee Ji-an and Park Dong-hoon is the heart of the drama. It isn’t romance, but something deeper and rarer. A connection built on understanding, empathy, and silent support. Both actors delivered phenomenal performances, bringing immense depth to their characters.
My Mister is heavy, but also comforting. Painful, yet hopeful. It’s a drama that stays with you, and one I know I’ll rewatch, this time slowly, fully present.

Human relationships are life savers
I just finished this masterpice. To be honest I had some doubts about it and my main reason to watch it was IU.I wish i had watched this before; the story overall is so beautiful and heartwarming. It truly points out how the relationships we build in our life can drawn us or save us.
Every character develops in such a beautiful way. It can seems slow at the begining and probably it´s not made for everyone tastes, but you should give it a try. Every day life and the difficulties that comes with it can make really wonderful stories.

The A-Typical KDRAMA that is worth the watch
So I'll start by saying I've watched this drama several times now. I even got my wife to watch this drama even though she was reluctant because she was not a fan of the main character. She ended up also loving this drama. What I liked initially about this drama is there was no rich, handsome CEO or young, spoiled son of a billionaire driving expensive cars and wearing expensive clothes. It was refreshing to see something about a middle aged, hard working office worker who happens to get caught up in some struggles. Someone that didn't have a hidden talent for fighting 10 people at once or endless riches behind him. Everything just seemed more normal with an intriguing story line.
I never knew who this actor was, nor did I really know who IU was. I was just amazed because I thought IU fit the role perfectly and did a fantastic job. I only found out later that IU was a singer and maybe she is not great in some other roles but for this role I thought she played the part perfectly and my wife was initially surprised that I thought she was an excellent actor. Well, that was until she finished this series with me.
In any case - I don't write reviews often but this is something that will appeal to those that are sick of some of the typical cliches that fill kdramas. The acting is wonderful with some heartbreaking moments that will burn into your memory forever.

More than the sum of its parts...feels like I'm better off than I was when I started it
The writing, acting, and directing are all so strong...but the show is more than just the sum of those parts. It isn't a feel-good show by any stretch - it shows some dark events and explores some tough themes - but it unfolds in a way that leaves you feeling like you came through the other side better off than you were when you started. The themes of platonic love, family bonds, and neighborhood ties are woven together nicely. Was this review helpful to you?
This drama is a perfect fall and winter drama when you want to feel
I have now rewatched this drama 3 times and I can say I will never get bored of this story. So many lines stick with me and Lee Jin character will forever be my favorite character IU has played. Really lovely story that not hard to understand a legit story about life. The hardships the connections everything is shown in this drama. I really wish dramas like this were more popular in Korea so they could make more of them. This drama really was only pulled off because of the emotion the actors have but in. I feel sometimes dramas now would include some sad stories but the story itself would be emotional not the portrayal of the actors. I recommend this drama to everyone who might feel alone or is going through hardships. Very healingWas this review helpful to you?
Heartwrenching at certain points
I honestly have to say that Jang Ki Yong totally stole the show for me. From his first scene, I knew that he and Ji-an would have some sort of history, and indeed he turned out to be the most layered and gray character. He had one of the best development arcs I'd ever seen, and the acting was top-notch.Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the development between the leads as well, but it just didn't captivate me the same way, save for a few scenes that were actually really touching.
I wish I could rate this higher but it actually took me so long to get through this drama, and even mid-way it was hard to find the motivation to keep going. I think part of this was the amount of time dedicated to the side characters — while some did grow on me, especially when they interacted with Ji-an in later episodes, for most of it I didn't care much for many of their scenes and it just very disjointed from the main storyline.

I could not like the main couple
Like the OST, cinematography, Dong Hoon actor acting, supporting cast.Dislike: Ji An acting... Like there is only one expression on her face the whole time.
I tried very hard to like the Dong Hoon and Ji An but just simply couldn't sympathize, especially Dong Hoon.
Dong Hoon married his wife, had a kid, was content with having his wife be the breadwinner yet be depress the whole f**king time because someone he hated got the big gig. What did he do to get out of that??? None, until someone threatened him. What does that say about him as a person?
He spent every evening after work hanging out with his buddies, his brothers, or his mom. What about his wife? His excuse was that she wasn't home. Well, apparently, they had mismatched schedule. What did he do about that? None... until his wife gave up and seek emotional solace somewhere else; then he felt bad. Should have seen that coming.
His mother resented his wife because she was more successful than him, even though her salary gave her the financial support she and her boys needed. His wife knew this but still tried. His wife tried to establish their family away from the extended family but he wouldn't hear of it.
So, is it his wife's fault only that they have problem? Where is the acknowledgement that it takes 2 to make or break a couple? I wish she divorced him and found some measure of happiness.
Ji An was the annoying female tsundere the whole time. Her poor background permitted her to do whatever she can to solve her and her people problem, regardless of the impact on others?
Like I said, I tried to like them but nahhh...

Can't deny how good it is
So to be honest I have dropped this drama at ep13, not because it was bad but because personally, it made me quite depressed thinking about life and I may pick it up again another time.My mister is one of those dramas you either love or hate, and even if you hate it it's not because it's not good but because it doesn't fit your genre style well. If your a hopeless romantic or into high action this may bore you. But if you love deep meanings or genres that reflect everyday life with character depth then it would be a perfect fit.
I love that the ML isn't this perfect guy who has life all figured out but he is a normal working man with a crazy family, struggles and hardships and he makes mistakes but is so good compared to those around him. The FL takes no crap and fights for herself but also allows herself to open up to him. There's no romance and if there was it would have ruined it.
Just people finding friendships and learning that life sucks but it's a little easier with others around you.
I am not gonna say much more about the rest of it. I wouldn't re-watch because It's one of those dramas you carry in your memories.

Once in a Blue Kdrama Moon
Not often do you come across a series you acknowledge as a technical masterpiece in terms of it’s quality, buuut stopped in personally acknowledging it as a masterpiece in your perspective. This drama has almost everything a gritty, dark tone lover can ask for, the cast is stellar. You’re left with no room of preference of any actor replacing any of the cast since they execute their roles flawlessly.
The subtle sub genres they sprinkle over each episode makes you not want to mainly see this show for its romantic elements, it’s overly dramatic moments/characters, it’s severely dark themes. It has you see it for every thing it has to offer, combined under one word, Phenomenal.
Alas, with such great quality all around, I can’t help but to be taken out of the pool of “Masterpiece!!! One of its kind!!!” viewers because of one huge turd in the pool, known as believability.
Now don’t get me wrong, the series for the most part is definitely beyond believable, buuut there lies a certain character(with a HUGE impact on the story btw) that has an upbringing.. that doesn’t align with their current actions. Can you guess who? I’m sure most can and have.
This “specific” character has gone through hell with the FL, even once used to be the FL’s protector, or more so comforter? BUT the main person(his father) both of them opposed and were traumatized the most by in their past, is killed by the FL as someone finally decided to defend themselves. For the sake of the plot, forget this character having to live in this hell hole everyday, forget being there to witness the shit his father has been putting others through constantly due to others’ misfortune. Forget once trying to be the one bonfire warming the FL in this cold cruel world they’re living in. SHE KILLED YOUR BELOVED FATHER!! TORMENT HER FOR THE REST OF HER MISERABLE LIFE AND SHOW HER THE PAIN YOU’RE SUDDENLY GOING THROUGH FROM LOSING HIM. Take over your father’s path that you hated seeing hurt others. You don’t need believable reasoning, you don’t need consistency behind your actions, hell let’s even begin to humanize you well over half way in the story.
This singular aspect may have not been as much of a flaw as it has been for me, hell for whatever reason one has it may not have been a flaw at all for some as well. But the lack of this character’s development believability ruined what could’ve been a masterpiece for me as well. A shame really, but overall , no one should miss out on this series because of this, and will always be an easy recommendation coming from my mouth anytime somebody needs something that fits.
