This kind of story is not new to me. But for a Korean movie, this is definitely unusual.

Love all of the cast but I didn't expect Park Sung Woong, a veteran in drama to accept this kind of film but honestly he did very well, very very very very well. Next actor, worthy to be acknowledged is Oh Seung Hoon, he may be a fresh image for me, but definitely his acting is that of a professional. I can see how perfectly he portrayed a character and I definitely will look forward for more of his dramas and films.

I agree with the majority that the film was rushed. There could have been a concrete proof of the development of characters but ,nevertheless, I was able to enjoy it. The intense scenes are definitely something to look forward (If no one told you yet, then let your imagination work. think and watch to understand what intense I am referring to xD). Knowing that it is from Korea, hopefully, more dramas and movies with BL can be aired or shown.

It was totally different that what i had expected and I must say that I loved it!
This movie is bit more mature and heavy but I enjoyed that. It is nice to see how there is more and more movies and dramas about gay relationships, especially in South Korea where homosexuality is not totally exepted yet.

STORY-The story was really interesting it was nothing like what I have ever seen before, it was hard to tell what was going to happen next. There were moments where it wasn't quite clear if they are playing their characters in the play or just being themselves but I think that is what is so cool about the movie.
The story was a bit rushed because the movie was only 1h 22min long, it would have been better if the movie was around 2h.

ACTING/CAST- In my opinion the acting in this movie was great, the actors fit their roles really well. Although the agap between the main leads was 18 years it didn't disturb me at all, so don't worry the interactions between the actors weren't cringy or uncomfortable to watch at all.
For a rookie actor Oh Seung Hoon did a great job, this was his first movie but you really can't tell based on his acting.
Park Sung Woong's acting was also great as expected from a veteran actor.

MUSIC- The music compimented the story very nicely and I think it played a big role in this movie.

ENDING- What I like about this movie is that the whole story wasn't predictable, it was really hard to tell what was going to happen in the end and that's something that doesn't happen often with romantic movies.
I didn't like the ending but when i think about it it went well with the story.

All in all I really recommend watching this movie if you want something different from those sweet, cute romcom movies.

It's a Psychological Thriller People!

On reading the bad reviews, I think some people missed the theme of this movie. It wasn't just about same sex attraction, it was a psychological thriller, about when one man takes his role too much to heart - i.e. "Method" acting.
I was already a fan of Park Sung Woong, but now I am head over heals, because of this film!
And, Oh Seung-hoon - fabulous.
I was holding my breath in the last scene! Wonderful writing. Great acting!
As one of the 'good' MDL reviewers said - both actors were very brave to take on these roles. Their raw emotions were on show. The vulnerable "Singer" became the alpha, by taking his role on stage *off* the stage.
Yes, I would watch it again, but after watching a few fluffy romcoms first - I need to calm down a bit....

Method, in my opinion was one of those movies that have two storylines happening at the same time. It might be a bit confusing and at times rushed, as you're watching it but the revelation comes at the ending. I'll explain what I mean:

Story - 9.5/10
For the storyline, as I was saying about having two different series of events happening at the same time, Method does an amazing job with combining the two worlds. As you are watching, you see it as a forbidden romance between two male actors that doesn't end well. However, on the other hand, it is about a play. Similar to Hamlet where there is a play within a play, Method shows how the actors of the on stage play 'Unchain', take on their role completely. While forming a bond between each other, they diverse themselves into their characters and truly become method actors. While I'm not saying that their attraction was completely untrue, their roles in the play (that were at the time influencing their mindset) did deeply affect it. Many watchers mention that they didn't really enjoy this movie because of how Korea constantly has unhappy endings for their gay couples, but I don't think that this was just a cop out for queerbaiting. I think that the writers and directors wanted to show a sinister twist to an affair between actors. The actors in question ust happened to be both males. When you watch the movie with this perspective, I think that Method did a great job.

Acting/Cast - 10/10
For the cast, I have nothing to say but compliments. I think that the actors did a wonderful job at showcasing their chemistry on screen as well as portraying their emotions incredibly for the storyline. I was pleased to see Park Sung Woong play Jae Ha because he is a relatively known actor. He took on the challenge of this role and I think that he pulled it off perfectly. I was able to see his internal struggle between the temptation of Oh Seung Hoon, the actor who plays Young Woo, and his commitment to Yoon Seung Ah, the actress who plays Hee Won. As for Oh Seung Hoon, despite being a rookie actor, I could not imagine Young Woo being played by anyone else. He was phenomenal at showing an idol overcome with passion and desire for his co-star that led him to losing a part of himself and his sanity completely. For the acting, I say well done.

Music - 9.0/10
Music is never a big concern for me when it comes to the storyline as long as it somewhat fits the mood of the scene. The music of this movie never took away from the scene and even added a suspenseful and sinister vibe to many moments with the violin undertone so I was pleasantly surprised.

Rewatch Value - 8.0/10
I can't say with my whole heart that Method is my favourite movie to watch over and over again, so I gave it an 8 out of 10. I would say however, that it is a fairly light movie, in the sense that you don't necessarily need to sit down and think about all the hidden eggs and metaphors as well as the meaning of life after watching it lol.

An Unraveling of Identity and Obsession on Stage and Off

What drew me into Method wasn’t the promise of a romantic slow burn. It was the casting. The film centers around Yongwoo, a member of a popular boy group, and Jaeha, a seasoned stage veteran with decades of gravitas under his belt. It’s a curious pairing at first glance. Youth and idol fame clashing with age and theatrical prestige. That tension alone was reason enough to watch. What I didn’t expect was to be pulled into a psychological drama that defies genre expectations and left me questioning where the character ended and the performance began.

One of the most immediate things that sets Method apart is its chemistry. It didn’t feel rushed, superficial, or shoehorned in for fanservice. It crafts an almost unsettling tension. Every glance, every line read in rehearsal feels loaded. At times tender, at others unnerving. The chemistry between Yongwoo and Jaeha is electric, but not in a romanticized way. It’s raw, uncomfortable, and, most crucially, earned.

The dynamic between the two characters is built on an intentional imbalance. Jaeha doesn’t take Yongwoo seriously.. and why should he? Yongwoo enters the world of theater as a detached idol with no passion for the play they're rehearsing. Jaeha is a man who has bled for his craft, and he sees Yongwoo as little more than a shallow pretty face. That perception begins to shift as Yongwoo becomes entranced. Not just by Jaeha as a person, but by Jaeha’s unwavering devotion to acting. The first screenplay read-through scene is burned into my memory.

It’s reductive to call Method just a BL. If anything, it weaponizes the genre’s conventions to lure viewers in, only to dismantle them scene by scene. This isn’t a love story. It’s a tragic character study about obsession, artistic dissolution, and the dangers of identity blurring between role and reality.

Jaeha doesn’t fall in love, he falls into his character. Walter consumes him. He withers under the weight of his own method acting, and in doing so, drags Yongwoo down with him. But Yongwoo’s downfall is more chaotic. He doesn’t become someone else; he loses himself in Jaeha. His affection metastasizes into fixation. It culminates in a harrowing moment where he breaks into Jaeha’s home and stands silently over him and his wife as they sleep. There's no romantic justification, no tragic poetry.. just a haunting display of emotional possession.

There’s no love here, only consumption. The kind that gnaws away at your sense of self until all that’s left is the performance.

What makes Method remarkable is its refusal to play to expectations. It’s not romantic, but it is intimate. It’s not erotic, but it simmers with tension. And above all, it’s an exploration of what happens when the line between who we are and who we pretend to be collapses entirely.

I just got done watching this drama, and I’m asking myself—What did I just watch? I cant call it a BL movie, because I don’t really think that’s what it was. It was more about method actors going way beyond the characters they were portraying in their play. They crossed the line and really started to have feelings for each other, like they did in their play. Or did they? It really kept you guessing right until the end. Even when it ended and the credits were running, you still didn’t know if they were really acting, or they really had feelings for each other. The acting was excellent and very believable. It kept me interested from beginning to end.

Just finished this movie and... what did I just watch it???

I just watch an excellent movie!

Yes, it's involved on homosexuality BUT, and it is a big but, even if it's not your cup-of-tea or you're too squeamish for related subject, give a go and do not scape this movie...

The acting is simply amazing! The scene where Yeong Woo drop his first tear is touching and venerable at the same time... and the surprise (and torment) when Jae Ha realises that what he's feeling is way of chart, is centred on his eyes... beautiful. Super acting really.

At first, I just watched it because of Sung Woong (that caught my attention on 'Remember') but right on the beginning of the movie I liked his character and demeanour so the rest was just fun ... Meanwhile, Seung Hoon woo me with his acting and it was the cherry of the cake!

How to describe this movie? Lightness and sensuality... just pay some special attention and you'll feel the connection... well I did ;-) !

Also, more than a possibility of a homosexual context movie, for me, it was more like 'the hammer on the nail!' kind of relationship... the kind that when you open your eyes wide... it's too late... no coming back!

I don’t know where to start, this movie is a lot.
I actually think it was genius, how the story line goes by seeing the characters’ feeling, it was more than just “romantic story” it was an art honestly, I enjoyed every second of it.

I like the actors so much, how they express their feeling, the way they act.

the ending leaves you confused, wanting to know more about it. I usually hate open ending, but it’s better than bad ending, so no complaining.

I’ll definitely recommend it to the ones who loves lgbtq movies & interesting storyline

10/10 loved it.

how far can you go with method acting?

What a movie. Even days after watching it I’m still thinking about it. When I tell you my eyes were GLUED to the screen from start to finish they were. The big question was, was it really all an act, or was did real feelings cause the lines between the actor and idol to getting blurry? I think this film is interpretational and leaves you to draw your own conclusion on what was really going on. The movie wasn’t necessarily romantic but rather than implementing a romantic theme it relies more on the performance of the actors to draw you into the events. I found the movie unpredictable as to when the climax happened I was so eager to see what would happen next. Since the film was about to actors in a play, many parts of the movie felt like you were watching a movie in a movie which was really great. I get that this movie can be a little controversial given the subject matter but damn does it need more recognition!
The acting is phenomenal, especially from Oh Seung Hoon. That dude needs to be in more films and the ones with the veteran actors because he’s that good! He did an amazing job as Yeong-Woo. Ngl I thought he was cast because they needed a cute guy to play an idol but damn he did not need to go that hard acting. He channeled the character so genuinely and not once did he come off as awkward or out of place. Actually, both actors were purposeful and very natural in the more intimate scenes. The kissing scenes were so sensual and felt so real. They were so convincing that you would think they were romantically involved in real life!

Personally, I think Yeon-Woo did develop feelings for his co-star as he discovered his liking for acting through the play, however, there were moments where he would tease and toy with Jaeha which makes me think that a part of his behavior was an act, but not completely. The last scene with him gave me a sense that he liked Jaeha, or did he dread returning to the repetitive and restrictive life of an idol? It was clear from the beginning of the movie that he was tired of his life, so that is maybe why he seemingly enjoyed working on the play so much. He didn’t care much for it at first but after Jaeha prompted him to get into character I think he began to feel a form of freedom and self-expression that he never felt before. So I could argue that his time spent with Jaeha didn’t awaken romantic feelings in him but ignited his newfound passion for acting. But then again those steamy kisses and overt sexual tension were hard to overlook. As for Jaeha, I think for the most part it was merely method acting, but that scene in the shed made me think he started to fall for his acting partner. In his last scene, he seemed satisfied with both his and Young-Woo’s performances and walked away with no visible sign of regret or longing. These are the reasons that I doubt that it was all just acting.
Overall this movie is just excellent all around. 9.5/10. The only reason I’m not giving this a full ten is that I’m unsure about the ending. It wasn’t bad but it left me wanting more.

Such a great movie, it's one of my favourites. The actors are just perfect for this movie and extraordinary skilled. Although there is quite a big age gap between the two main actors they fit together just so nicely, their chemistry is lovely. I believe in Korea gay themed movies are quite rare, therefore it's really nice this movie exists and it hopefully helps producing more (positive) awareness for LGBT+, especially in Korea. In my opinion the creators of this movie did a fantastic job. The script is extremely well written and the plot is very well thought through. This movie really left me speechless. It is definitely re-watch worthy.

I’m not sure but here’s my take

I don’t think the boy was in love and I don’t think either man was gay. The boy didn’t want to be in the play to begin with. Then the man embarrassed him in front of everyone and wanted him replaced. The boy learned about the man’s method acting and decided to show the man how he could do the same thing and how well he could act. All the things he did seemed to tie in with his character. The hanging went a little far but he knew he wouldn’t die and really scared the man. The man got played. Unfortunately, the man, although he loved his wife, did fall for the boy somewhere along the way. Mid-life crisis I guess. Very clever story.

Suspenseful...

I've heard a lot about Method with many people recommending it as a "must-watch" for BL films. Though the story did feel rushed and was a tad too melodramatic at times, especially in its thrilling last act, I absolutely was enthralled with this story of art imitating life and the lines that blurs the two distinctions. The acting of the two leads were great and really pulled me into this forbidden love story. There were a few unresolved moments that were questionable though such as why Young Woo's demeanor changed so quickly from being reluctant to participate in the play to going the extra mile and who the stranger was who broke into Jaeha's house, who I'm guessing was Young Woo but what happened after the statue fell down? Did Jaeha's wife call the police? Did Young Woo appear? How did he appear? Did he do anything to the wife? This major plot point was kinda skimmed over to amp up the tension in the last act. And let's be honest, if Jaeha truly thought that Young Woo killed his wife, he wouldn't continue to act on stage but rather rushing to his house to save her. All in all, an entertaining and suspenseful story that is unique in the world of BL. Anyone looking to see something different, I highly recommend watching this film!
