Good series, very entertaining. I recommend watching it.
It's a series that I didn't expect. All the actors did a great job. The costumes are beautiful. The story is fun and fast-paced. The songs are very beautiful. You won't be disappointed. This is a series that I didn't expect. All the actors did a great job. The costumes are beautiful. The story is fun and fast-paced. The songs are very beautiful.
The male lead, Ren Jialun, showed his emotions through his eyes and his smile. The exciting fight scenes were well done. He was cool. The female lead was able to act in accordance with the role and the other actors very well. This series has all the emotions: funny, exciting, sad. I was impressed after watching it. I watched it 3 times.

needed more in end.
Honestly, for the first time, I liked the villain roles. The bad guy was so bad, I could feel the creeps from the screen. I felt bad for any female near him. I couldn't bring myself to hate him. He was my favourite character out of all. While there was a happy ending. I needed to see more! No wedding or other conclusion. So many things left at the conclusion. So one star out because of semi-happy ending for me. The drama though is pretty awesome. Love the strong female leads who actually know kungfu and how to fight.

The Power of Women
This is truly an epic tale. It deserves all the praise it has received. It's beautifully shot, perfectly cast, wonderfully written.Firstly, I cannot think of.a better or more standout cast. Allen Ren is perfect as the serious, stoic, upright yet broody Lu Yi and Seven Tan really has her moment shining so brightly as Yuan Jin Xia. They complement each other perfectly. Like other viewers commented, the villain Han Dong with his glass eye was so sinister, even I as the viewer was terrified of him. This is a lengthy drama and I don't think a moment within the 55 episodes was wasted. You can tell all the cast work hard at developing their characters.
This show is really about the Power of Women. I feel Under the Power's English and Chinese name (锦衣之下) does not do justice to this truly powerful epic. Maybe it should be called In The Power of Women. It's all about the women in this drama. Yuan Jin Xia as a woman constable set aside all pre-conceived notions of women and kicked aside all traditions to serve as a female constable. Even the fact that her mother adopted her and raised her as a single parent was admirable. And then you have Shangguan Xi who is the leader of a famous gang and even Dr Lin Ling who saves the day with her knowledge of poisons. Not forgetting the standout emotional epic battle scene which was led BY women. The truly memorable character which should have had a bigger part was the General's wife who fought to protect Hangzhou. Like seriously - one of the few epic battle scenes were led by WOMEN? That is some serious female power!
The women really shine in this show. Don't get me wrong, the men shine too, it's just that this show really lets the women have their moment. I really love how the men are so confident in their own masculinity or just confident in themselves that they are so happy and willing to let the women shine. Yang Yue is the perfect example. He is happy to be the assistant to Yuan Jin Xia, oftentimes letting her take the lead in solving crimes and then later on being the content companion of Shangguan Xi - stepping aside to let the girls fight - but always their to help and to assist and to cook delicious meals. This show allows men to show emotion - shows them cry, shows them have deep feelings of unrequited love / or reciprocated love. It shows them head over heels in love.
This show is truly a gem. I cannot recommend this show more. It's just EPIC. If you are considering whether to watch this show or not - just start. You will not regret it. One of the best shows I've watched. Hands down.

My Favorite C-Drama
I finished binge watching this series a few days ago and I must say this is by far one of my favorites if not my favorite Cdrama ever. The story/plot is pretty interesting, and it's enough to keep you watching throughout the series. But what I love the most about this series is the chemistry and romance between Lu Yi and Jin Xia. Like their chemistry and relationship is pretty unique. Usually in other dramas it's a standard to have the cliche 'misunderstanding' last for a chunk of the drama, or have it so that there's multiple misunderstandings throughout the entire series. But in this series I felt like the misunderstands were kept at a minimum and towards the end of the series. The majority of the series is them trying to solve their investigations and them getting to know one another, and by them doing that you get to see their relationship grow stronger and you can really tell that they care deeply for each other. Was this review helpful to you?

Just Like Sherlock Holmes
I like the story in this drama and especially the female lead. She is strong and what ever happens she keeps her determination on being who she is. You follow the story as a Sherlock Holmes detective movie. The male lead is serious and the female lead is witty and funny but very observant. The female lead breaks away the walls that the male lead has place on himself and she makes him smile, laugh and even fall in love. Each case the leads characters get closer emotionally and the story becomes bigger. Each case is connected in some way. There are many characters, some are easy to follow and some you forget about them. The bad guy is bad but cute. There many couples in the story that you like following just as much as the lead couple. But I felt the drama is to long and I was not happy with the ending when they leave the last 3 minutes to see the Main couple happy. The actors did a great job in their performance. It is a great drama to watch. Was this review helpful to you?

WHY SO GOOD?!
It took me hours to find this awesome series! If you're looking for a duo WHO WORK SIDE BY SIDE IN CHILL MANNER. Then, try this one.
Prod: eye capture scene were the best! The transition was awesome to!
So, I would like to put some notes whenever I want while watching because I'm afraid that there wholesome characters might change as the the eps progress.
Stopping to ep 8: Ghad! One of the best FL when it comes to diverse temper and personality. Not your damsel in distress, she dresses like a man but never denies that she's a woman. She points out clues and reveals threads (using her beloved tool!) to solve each cases. Indeed, it's wholesome from the start because she was an officer with wit, strength, quirkiness, and temper! She is treated fairly and does not point her gender to her capabilities. LOVE FOOD and money! I love her already!
Unexpectedly, ML is competing with FL's complex personality. With his cruel and cold behavior, you can see how deep his vengeance and thirst for revenge and anger even without emphasizing it. His calm demeanor yet dangerous portrays, tells me that this is a bomb. I'm curious how he will turn out.
For the progress of their rs. I like that ML does not give a f to what FL does. (IN a good way). I mean, he let her do her job. Well, maybe because they are still not that attached to each other and the fondness is just blooming, but I kinda respect and like the ML because of that.
Then the 2nd character. I hoped that her best friend but he was not. Why did I wish that? because this is my 1st series in watching cdrama that 2nd character annoyed me much. I'm always rooting for 2nd character and wishing that the writer would not wreck them as their love story with the FL was ill-fated. This 2nd character was gutless and baka. For the first eps, he takes advantage of attachments and feelings and his reasons for everything are lame and flop. But I'm not angry though. If the 2nd character is nah, then I'm free from having sympathy with them and just focus on the main leads!
EP 9- talking about maggots while eating was the best ahahaha
So... I forgot to continue taking notes HAHAHA BECAUSE I enjoyed it a lot!
AT the end, I did not become annoyed with 2nd character. On the contrary, I fond to like him because he realized his idiocy and I realized it's not his fault that he's a dumbass. I liked his rs towards the lead at the end. Side characters were the best too. I loved how her brother has happy ending with well deserved sister yieee.
OVERALL, I like that the ending was so good! like all was resolved! My annoyance towards the villain was well spent. They end up together without angsty feeling that why if I want to revisit series, I'll put this on my list. FL the best personality ever! Well, because she was consistent! Love money, food, and good at fighting! Well, the ML was consistent too because he never changed his demeanor even after falling in love. That's the reality here! He was nice up to start, he just don't have someone he cares about not until Jun Xia!
Ghad, I really love this series!

Rare worthy drama; CP with great rapport & chemistry
You can be put off by the length of drama ( i try to stick to Cdramas less thn 40episodes) BUTThese are why you should give this drama a try:
1. Leads that have something special in terms of character: ML, Lu Yi is someone not just cool but ice cold when it comes to criminal, ruthless and unfeeling as req by his job. He doesn't spare much attention to other things but work to be done, criminals and spies to be caught and justice fulfilled. He's a skilled martial artist but he isn't invincible. He is intelligent and cunning but careful and meticulous. FL is daring, has good tracking skills, is bold but can sweet talk and change her tune to save her own hide. She's also a skilled martial artist as trained by her master and can defend herself. She has an infectious personality and like her name last word means Summer) exuded warmth.
2. Story/plot: The first few episodes developed very well. In very few scenes we got the gist of the main characters. It was vy engaging. And although the Male and Female leads started on the wrong foot, their negative interactions were magnetic. The cases and how ML-FL goes abt solving them adds mystery and intrigue and also becomes the mechanisms that lets the leads understand and overcome their initial misconceptions abt each other. Ep 1 to 45: the story was fantastic, rarely boring. I even like the secondary love story although that arc had some repetitive elements but the 2characters was worthy of your time to see to their own happy ending
3. The love story: Its rare that an investigation, historical C drama can develop such a moving and deep love story. Rarer still that ML and FL are on the same wavelength. Their every interaction was like pilling stone upon stone..until it becomes a strong fort of its own
With each passing case and time working along each other: trust, bond and understanding was built. ML begins to find sth else other than work and crime thats interesting. He begins to have reason for good mood and his smirk turns to fleeting smile. His eyes usually cold and shrewd becomes warm when he looks at the FL. FL comes to understand him. Admires ML's intelligence, sense of justice and finds theres that someone that she could rely on. He would have her back. As the story progresses, the depth and lengths they each go to protect one another (in dangerous situation, in sickness and death) shows how devoted they are to each other. Despite my description, their interactions are sometimes really cute and funny and sweet. You have to watch it to get what i mean
4. The acting: Perfection for the scoring and I couldn't deduct. Tan Song Yun was always likable as an actress but this her role as Yuan Jin Xia was the best yet. She gave life, warmth and depth to her character. Ren Jia Lun was new to me but oh boy did they made an excellent casting in him..he made Lu Yi outstanding. I'm calling this duo Big Eye Couple. And they put their eyes to beautiful use. They were so good with the eye gazing.. so much emotion conveyed even when little or no words were spoken. That chemistry that they could develop from just glancing at each other or smiling at each other or conveying fear was hands down amazing.. it made so many scenes moving and oh so unforgettable. Han Dong was a brilliant antagonist, he was really fleshed out and not your typical puppet villain.. he was scary in intensity, in his cunning and psychotic personality.
Why i deduct little on the score.
Ep 46 to 54: I didn't like the final arc of the story. I felt birth secret thing that was revealed and the repercussion from it detracted the beauty of the story. It was there for heart wrenching and sad reasons. Yet It took away the precious beautiful thing between the leads. Ep 55 was a rewarding episode. That mooncake scene was brilliantly written and delivered beautifully. It concluded well but perhaps a bit rushed.. given the hardships they faced (and viewers had to bear) last 8 episodes it would have been nice if we were given a bigger reward.
Rewatch: I already missed the leads. I love how FL is very open with her affections for ML and openly admires and admits her admiration for him. Given how cold he was in the beginning, his first confession was really moving. And later on how he surprises her when he doesn't mince his words to convey how important she is to him. So worth rewatching.

MC is cold but caring. ML is bubbly and smart. There's barely any kiss but the chemistry between the two of them are very good. The ML is a good-looking man, the MC is cute and pretty. Because of this, I have become a fan of the two main leads.
The story is nothing too outstanding but the main characters bought life to this seemingly plain plotline.
When everything was going well, of course, something bad will happen to either the MC or the ML towards the end (which is completely unnecessary). Tbh, I skipped the last episodes and just watched the final ep. Ren Jialun is indeed too handsome ahah.
I seriously love this.

Slow burn love story with amazing leads
Just finished watching this last week. A drama with happy ending, beautiful locations, stunning clothing, variable story lines, and mixed of characters/personalities. The embroided gown/uniform was just stunning!! A period/historical/fantasy/romance /love triangle heaven for C-drama lovers. Some spoilers coming next! I wasn't very keen with Lu Yi character at the beginning. He was just a sour resting face guy who wears a stunning embroided gown. He was ruthless, a bit of a snob and thinks very highly of himself. BUT, later on, when he started to smile more and confesses his love to Jin Xia, you can't help falling in love with him too. He is so handsome when he smiles! Jin Xia, on the other hand, was a happy go lucky, ass kicking, albeit a little bit childish and annoying at the beginning, somehow turn into a helpless young woman towards the end, again a bit annoying. It would have been great if her character could be strong all the way throughout the drama. But, happy ending nonetheless (sigh!!)
Couldn't really get into Xie Xioa character at all. He gets to clingy and almost cringe worthy when he was declaring his love to Jin Xia. This guy cannot take no for an answer. Da Yang's romance was watchable and I am glad for a happy ending for them too.
Now, lets talk about the baddie, the one and only Yan Shi Fan. My goodness, he is a nasty piece of work, but with his one green eyes and devil may care demeanour, you can help but love him too (maybe it is just me). His acting was spotless and you can feel the fear in your heart when he flicked his fan.......A tall and handsome bad boy, what more can you asked for.
The opening and ending songs were so good and stuck in your head long after the drama ended. I like it that much, they are both in my playlist now. Really touching songs and Allen Ren singing voice is so haunting and soothing. I like the ending so much, I even re-watched Episode 55 again.
Highly recommended and a must watch C-drama. As for re-watchable - definitely a few re-watchable episodes.

One of the reasons I am hooked of this drama was the character and relationship development.
I love how romances was more on the emotions based on how they look in each other and exchanging their dialouges. I am not more into skinship likes lot of kissing.
Especially in Male Lead's character when he Falls in love he became warm but not changing who he is and still be able to express his love thru saving and sacrifing.
And the romance between characters has it's foundation so I love how we see them from the start as nothing-enemies-friends-attraction-lovers.
