Grand Prince Episode 1 Reactions
pros of the episode (and show so far):
-Yoon Shi-yoon as Lee Whi, Prince Eun Sung
-his friendship with his two "bodyguards" -- not really sure if that's what they are, but they were his friends and I love the chemistry between the three of them and I think there's a love line between the two friends so I'm kind of delighted to see how that plays out (if that's indeed what's in the cards for them)
There are no huge cons, it's just that the rest of the show for me just left me feeling "meh". If you've watched a lot of historical dramas this was pretty much just your standard, setting the backstory between the relationships (lee whi's with his older brother and pretty much everyone around them). A good portion of the episode was spent in a flashback to help give you an idea of how the dyanmic between the two brothers began and while I think it was helpful I'm also kind of tired in childhood flashbacks in dramas, but that's just a personal preference.
If you're interested in this for the romance---you do get to see a heartwarming scene between the female + male lead but not much screen time with them to be honest. However, you still get shown exactly how much they mean to each other and how dedicated they are to each other--although that's clearly going to be tested so I see a lot of separation and anxiety in their future.
All in all an average episode for me personally and I can see myself watching this as a time pass or out of curiosity to see if things pick up in the next few episode but definitely not sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens. However--if you're interested in the show definitely recommend you give it a go and check it out for yourself :)
