Low budget, and a little clunky at times.The story has high sci-fi aspirations, but doesn't really pull it off coherently, but the characters, their growth and bonding all make it worth while.

The absolute best part of this series are the two main lead actors..(Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan).. Zhu Yilong and Bai Yu. The way they portray these characters is incredible. My favorite Shen Wei, portrayed by ZHu Yilong... Zhu Yilong has the most expressive eyes ive ever seen. the stares that are shared between Shen Wei and Yunlan tells a different story. One of love and commitment. Just brilliant. I definitely recommend reading the novel first and then watching the series, since the stories differ. Then ride novel again so you can put faces to the characters :)...it’ll definitely heighten the experience. The show itself could use some work vfx wise but overall the telling and expressions and acting of the leads and main cast, especially carry the series.

The show dives straight into action without much explaining. Now I'm waiting for more profound introduction of characters. And I'd like to know what happened between the two mail protagonists in the past. Seems like there's no romance but I'm very okay with that one.
