Bi Cheng withdraws his employment as State Preceptor of Li and then tries to communicate with the Grand Princess but is rebuffed. There's an attempt to assassinate the Emperor, and the assassin's weapons point to the Li state. Wu Yi recommends a martial arts contest to replace the current Elite Guard for his failure to protect the Emperor. Wu Yi nominates Ji Ye to represent the Li state, but the warrior chosen by the Grand Princess to represent the Yin Empire mysteriously departs in fear upon seeing Tian Zhan.
