Legend of Fei

有翡 ‧ Drama ‧ 2020 - 2021
While watching this I started to make a list comparing Legend of Fei's A'Fei/Xie Yun to Di Feisheng/Li Lianhua AS A JOKE and then it got TOO REAL and I had to stop lol. (Although in some ways she's more Fang Duobing than Di Feisheng.)

I can't explain in detail because spoilers, but: dao-wielding rough young woman from outlaw fortress background ventures into jianghu for the first time and encounters a jokey, rude, pretty man who's a bit mysterious and seems not to have any martial arts. Caveat: LoF is not nearly as well made as MLC. It's riddled with bad editing and dropped storylines and low production values, and the writing is nowhere near as thoughtful. It's pretty fun, though.

MLs have hidden royal identity
(One has forgotten and Other is hiding)

Cheerful MLs
Strong Fighter FLs

People trying to capture/kill MLs

FL has a brother, kinda silly at first then becomes mature.

A lot to do with poison/medicine/curse

Same actress as FL. Her character goes through many hardships and a lot of growth. Both are slower paced dramas with similar tone and setting.

In the last years of the Tang Dynasty, a military governor and warlord named Chu Kui are out in the countryside when he happens to come across a boy who has been raised by wolves. The warlord decides to take the boy in, adopt him, and name him Chu You Wen. Chu Kui then proceeds to launch an ultimately successful coup, usurping the Tang monarch and installing himself as the first Emperor of the Yang Dynasty. The new Emperor names Chu You Wen as a royal prince.
At court, Chu You Wen forms a bond with a woman named Ma Zhai Xing, the daughter of a government official.
Despite his lofty status at court, Chu You Wen is motivated by a strong sense of justice that was instilled in him during his years of living in the wild. He and Ma Zhai Xing begin to form a romantic bond. And with her support, he plans to temper his adoptive father’s unpopular and overly strict reforms – and battles to foil a series of dastardly plans hatched by his scheming foster brothers.

Both are-Historical, Romance, Wuxia, Fantasy

Both have really badass female leads and smart male leads. They also depict the characters growing and supporting one another as they experience adventures in the jianghu.

Both dramas are centered around martial arts and have elements of mystery and action as well as some romance. Also, they both have male leads that appear at times to be weaker than the females. If you like martial arts and mystery dramas, but are looking for something a bit shorter than Legend of Fei, Ancient Detective is a good option, because it's interesting, of a similar production quality to Legend of Fei, and could serve as a good in-between show to watch while waiting for the rest of Legend of Fei to premiere.

it‘s not similar in the main story, since it’s and investigation drama and not about martial arts
…but there are similarities in terms of the main characters
- ml is puppylike, but also smart and kunning (and his identity is unknown)
- fl is domineering and tough

A tale of love and adventure between an immortal fox and an artisan goddess. An eternal love that will face enemies in heaven and on earth.

Both are wuxia dramas with an chronically ill or poisoned, highly intelligent ML and a strong-spirited and talented at fighting FL. Both have beautiful cinematography, revolve around sects, have a large cast of characters, and have slower pacing.

Both are wuxia/historical dramas in which the ML was poisoned when young and not expected to live long but was saved by another who "hid/locked" the poison in him. As a result, he can't use martial arts and is physically weaker than the FL, yet very intelligent, fighting with brains instead of brawn. The MLs eventually unlock their poison for the FL (either to save her or her loved one), and attempt to leave her afterwards, but the FLs find out what they've done and tenaciously attempt to save the MLs. Both plots involve a dethroned emperor's heir who is either the ML or the ML is pretending to be him. Both dramas are slow paced but beautifully filmed with a very similar tone and a large cast of characters, as well as supporting couples.

Both MLs suffer from a "cold poison" and can't use their force because it will trigger it, but when the FL is in danger the MLs do so anyway to save her.
