Story of Yanxi Palace

- FL was in love with somebody else first before falling for the Emperor;

Both stories is about inner palace schemes, consorts and the inner struggle of the palace there is love, friendship, schemes, hatred, betrayal and great acting from all veteran hong kong actors one of them is Charmaine sheh (consort Xian) one of my favorite dramas growing up and it's still just as good costume design, story and production!

both are historical, Royal Feast is set in Ming dynasty which was just before Story of Yanxi Palace which is set in the Qing dynasty. both feature same main leads - Xu Kai and Wu Jinyan

In both dramas:
*FL & ML use strategies to overcome the hardships thrown at them by their enemies to get rid of them.
*The love hate relationship between the FL & ML lead them down a path of love.
*The FL has a strong devoted 2nd ML that starts as a love interest front runner (A difference - Story of Yanxi palace does leave you with the question of who the FL really loved for real, which to this day I still ponder on.....)

in term of king and servant romance both drama continue. the female leads of both drama are tight lipped to confess their love for king until the end . both became kings heart and consorts.

If u enjoy this and u like Concubine Queen dramas this is the drama for you. Yanxi palace is about a maid who rises to the position of a Queen she competes with a fearsome harem over the Kings Affections the main character is a strong independent badasss she is too clever not ur average female lead. The similarities in these dramas is about the harem the politics and otherwise are very much different

Similar to Wei Ying Lou, palace maid Ling Yun enters the palace to get revenge. Even though their motives are different, their methods of getting revenge is the same. If you’re looking for similar show but in short form Hou Gong Ling Yun Chu An is a great substitute
