The imperial court ministers anger the Emperor by pleading with him to officially recognize the Crown Prince, Ding Quan, with the Capping Ceremony. While mourning the death of his mother in a Buddhist temple, Ding Quan rushes back to the capital to protect the ministers, but he is punished by the Emperor.
