My ID Is Gangnam Beauty

내 아이디는 강남미인 ‧ Drama ‧ 2018
Woo Ri the Virgin and My ID is Gangnam Beauty share several similarities despite their different plots: both feature a strong heroine who seeks to assert herself in the face of societal expectations, whether around purity or physical appearance. These series offer social criticism of cultural norms in South Korea, while blending humor, emotion, and sincere romance with respectful partners. They also place a strong emphasis on family, which strongly influences the characters' choices. In short, they are two stories centered around identity, resilience, and self-love.

Both female leads undergo plastic surgery and a major appearance change. Diamond lover is more workplace/adult drama. As where Gangnam beauty is more college drama relating to image and status.

If you enjoy light dramas with cuteness that makes you squeal while watching, you might also enjoy this. Mi Rae and Kyung Suk's romance is cute and heart-warming. Yun Seo and Jung Rok are adorable, as well as Attorney Choi and Dan. Both shows are chock-full of giggles and heart-tugs.

Both have depictions of serious social issues women face in society
Both have Indifferent/cold ML who has a soft spot for FL
ML and FL know each other from their past and are reunited
Both are incredibly well made and enjoyable

In a way Im just using it as an excuse to shove Hit the Top down peoples throats.
But I also think whilst them both being very different they have a similiar feel to them, both are in their own way, dealing with being in your early 20s and I could very easily relate to both dramas.

Also obviously Cha Eun Woo as Do Kyung Suk is in it, playing as MJ.

This series tells the story of Kang Mi Rae, a girl once bullied for her looks. As a result, she became insecure, cautious around people and withdrawn. However, Mi Rae decides she wants a fresh start away from bullying and gets plastic surgery to transform her face. When she begins university, she meets Do Kyung Suk from their middle school days, who sees people for what they are on the inside and not the outside; he then becomes attracted to Kang Mi Rae.
As Mi Rae begins to get teased once more and labeled "Gangnam Beauty", the cold, aloof but kind inside Kyung Suk becomes the one person that stands up for her and in the process, Mi Rae begins to recover her lost confidence and discovers that true beauty is not on the outside.

Both deals with relationships, family problems and friendship. They have similar vibe and you can easily understand characters because they have problems like we, ordinary people have. Also I feel like they are both healing dramas, if you know what i mean:-).

Bullied at school because of her plain and dull appearance, Reina stops attending classes. However, a fateful encounter with makeup dramatically changes her life—after starting from zero, learning techniques, and putting in hard work, she undergoes a complete transformation into a goddess who turns heads wherever she goes! She planns to start a perfect new life at her new school! …Or so she thought. By sheer coincidence, her "top secret" is discovered by Kanda Shun—a cool, mysterious classmate with the top grades in their year. In exchange for keeping her secret, he forces her into an unexpected master-servant relationship!? As Reina grows closer to Shun, another classmate, Haruka Igarashi—who shares a certain "past" with Shun—also starts to take an interest in her.

Both are centered on university life, with an antagonist who seems kind and friendly but she is just jealous and wants to steal her friend's boyfriend

In both dramas the female leads are not satisfied with their looks so they want to go through a tranformation, also the male leads help them to be more confident.

- college setting
- MLs have a similar feel. They are both attractive, smart, cold people but they like the FL first and a lot.
- there is SFL lead that chases the male ML but he dislikes and mistrusts her and makes it very clear (I actually think that the SFL in professional single is more creepy because of the way she follows the ML even after he makes it very, very clear he does not like her even a little; as even just a human or friend. She feels like a stalker to me at times).
